URGENT! Great Cheap Eats DC?

I will be speeding in and out of DC tomorrow (9/20) and would appreciate recs on great cheap eats in the vacinity of the Library of Congress and DC China Town. Good lunch and dinner fare for under $15, solo dining and ethnic are preferred. I could care less about decor or service, but am more interested in great/ inexpensive food that is good on the run.

Well, the Library and Chinatown aren't exactly in the same 'hood, and a good dinner for under $15 is pretty much unobtainable in DC, so I'd go for Full Kee, 509 H St. NW, in Chinatown. Don't waste your time on anything that sounds familiar, get the weird stuff: oyster hot pot, jelly fish, pork belly and the like. If you're willing to go up from that budget, Sonoma, at 223 Pennsylvania Ave. SE is, I hear, pretty good at footsteps from the LOC.

i work at LC and I'm kind of tired of the places around here, but if you don't mind a little walk, on Pennsylvania and 6th, there's a Turkish place with a fairly good lunch buffet. I think it's called Aatish. Also, across from the Eastern Market, there's an inexpensive Mexican/Salvadoran mostly carryout, but with a few tables, Tortilla Cafe. Their quesadillas and flautas (which are fat, like egg rolls) are pretty good.

Chinatown Express near 6th and H. You can eat a plate of stir fried hand-pulled noodles with a choice of meat and a platter of dumplings fo under 15 bucks. Pretty decent eats - nowhere near New York's quality but definitely better than the Chinese American "Danny's" food.

Also, I think Aatish is Pakistani, not Turkish but I do know people who like it.

Market Lunch at Eastern Market is a good spot for cheap and tasty breakfast and lunch in a less-than-formal atmosphere.

on 2nd next to the lc there is Pete's Diner and Le Bon Cafe which can be decent.

They are close and meet the budget restraints.

Further down penn towards Eastern Market, I agree with the recommendations of Aatish. In Eastern Market its self there is Market Lunch which has the "areas best crab cakes" they are quite good. You can also get sandwiches, tamales, chicken and other stuff in the market.

Best cheap lunch in Chinatown for my money is at Capital-Q. Great sausage, pork and brisket. The smoked potatoes, baked beans and mac and cheese will all put a smile on your face and a bulge in your belly.

Everytime I've been to Full Kee (admittedly only thrice) the place has been empty except for myself and it's kind of creeped me out.

I ended up going to Full Kee where I had a very pleasant Oyster Hotpot that came to just unter $18 including tip. I will go again if I have the occasion to be in Chinatown, DC.
