Food in poetry .. your favorite?

Challenge:  What other foods have inspired poems as much as the blackberry?

An excellent question. One of my favorites is the Robert Hass poem "Meditation at Lagunitas," which includes possibly the best lines of poetry ever written:

because there is in this world no one thing

to which the bramble of blackberry corresponds,

a word is elegy to what it signifies.

The entire poem is available in several locations online, including here:

Pam: That is beautiful. Thank you.

The following link directs you to a poem with shared sensibilities that is about buying peaches at a fruitstand. However, click on the biography of Li-Young Lee to find two other poems, "Eating Together" and "Persimmons".

"From Blossoms".

"Viciousness in the kitchen.

The potatoes hiss." --Sylvia Plath
