Acme California Brown Ale (North Coast Brewing)

I discovered this beer a few months ago and have been keeping my fridge stocked with it ever since. It is by far my favorite brown/nut brown/ red beer that I have tried. It is especially friendly with BLTs, fish and chips, and curries. When I invite friends over to eat I introduce them to this beer and most people seem to like it. And the label is really cool as well. I think it is currently my favorite beer. If you haven't tried it, you should. Although it may be difficult to find where you live. any other fans out there?

I haven't tried their Brown but I am a big fan of their Old Stock Ale.

ACME was an old San Francisco beer brand launched by the Olympia Brewing Company, contemporary with the original Anchor Steam.

Northcoast bought the name, and then chose to use it when they launched their more approachable line of beers.

Love the packaging and advertising for all the ACME beers.

I don't think Northcoast makes any bad beers, though, I find my taste for their higher proof offerings has faded somewhat as I have gotten older. Old Rasputin, Pranqster, and Old Stock are all great beers; but, at over 10% ABV, they will knock you for a loop, if you lose track of your consumption. I'm very fond of their Scrimshaw and Red Seal Ales. I've been in kind of a Stout/Porter mood lately, so will have to remember to give their Old #38 Stout a try again.

I just this evening had a couple bottles of the Acme IPA! Wow! Very nicely done! North Coast has a winner here!
