A new whisky created in India that conforms exactly to Scotch whisky requirements!

The home of whisky is preparing to experience its first dram from India, it emerged today.

Amrut Distilleries has won European trade clearance to export Amrut single malt whisky into the UK.

Tasters described the whisky, named after the Sanskrit word for “drink of the Gods”, as akin to a soft Speyside.

Mr Sinclair said the whisky is made using traditional methods, although the added humidity of a tropical climate means the spirit matures for a shorter period.
