He passed away yesterday at 66, just 9 days after being diagnosed with cancer.

Sad. One of the original American chefs who were book smart, humble, and actually loved to cook even though it broke down his body too soon.

I was impressed that the local news, which I don't watch but can hear from the blaring TV, did lovely tributes today. It was such a creative transforming time and he was in the thick of it. Mayor Garcetti  tweeted
