Bistro 190 got a drubbing in Hardens (not that it's the bible or anything) and I haven't heard anything positive about the place recently. Anyone been? I went a very long time ago when AWT still owned it and hated it. But that's hardly relevent now I suppose. Just thought I'd tell you.

I haven't been to the restaurant in ages and didn't even know AWT wasn't involved anymore. But when I went it was okay. Sort of B quality French bistro food. If I had to go to RAH, I would eat elsewhere. It's easy enough to eat in Mayfair at a place like Tamarind or Al Hamra and jump in a cab for the 5 minute ride to RAH. You can even go through the park and there wil be absolutely no traffic. Same if you ate up on Queensway or Westbourne Grove. It's a stright shot in a taxi.

Yep: I'd say Queensway (Mandarin Kitchen). You're also close to Isola (where I've never been, but it looks fun).

Edit: eejit.

I think Ibla (top of Marylebone High Street) would be pushing it a bit from the RAH.

Second the idea of Launceston Place. Haven't been there for ages but it's the kind of restaurant that never really changes. Very comfortable, very comforting. A nice walk from the RAH.

Your also quite handy for the newly refurbed Fifth Floor and dare I suggest it Racine on the Old Brompton Road.

If Racine, why not a Cafe Rouge!! I think there is one on Church St

Shame on you Andy

Or why not Garfinkel's? Or maybe Aberdeen Steak House?

Simon mentioned Launceston Place and that is an okay suggestion but if you are going to go that route, I would opt for Kensington Place (same owners) and take the short cab ride to RAH. It's a livelier place to eat. Launceston is on the dull side.

I liked Arcadia at 35 Kensington High St.

I find it impossible to pass the RAH without attempting to recreate the fight on the steps from the Ipcress file.

Co-opt a passing tourist - they'll thank you in the end.
