So, I know a good number of the French restaurants around town will be running specials either on Bastille Day (the 14th) or this weekend before: anyone have any recommendations, based on past years? Or for Philly Bastille Day activities in general?

Check these links:

Bastille Day at the London Grill is always fun. Owner Terry Berch dresses up as Marie Antoinette and throws Tastykakes/Twinkies down from the ramparts of the penitentiary and is then "beheaded"to the delight of the crowd.

The White Dog Cafe also has a history of celebrating Bastille Day with a block party.

Just avoid Patou, which I've come to the conclusion after eating there a number of times, that they serve average food (at best). Went there last year for their Bastille Day deal, and while sipping wine on the sidewalk while watching the city go by on a lovely evening was quite enjoyable, the service and food were not. Wonder if Caribou Cafe has anything?
