Young Chefs in the Triangle (NC)

Andrea Weigl, the new food editor of the Raleigh News & Observer, has a nice story in today's paper about a handful of young chefs and restaurateurs who have made a big impression on the local dining scene.

The Triangle's next generation of chefs and restaurateurs has arrived. They are Mountain Dew swillers and air-brushed trucker hat wearers. Their chefs whites look like bowling shirts. They work 70 hours a week and still find time to play in metal bands. They are between 28 and 38 years old, ages when mere home ownership could be an accomplishment. Yet they run enterprises that take in hundreds of thousands of dollars and cavalierly joke about watching them burn to the ground.

Jujube, Rue Cler, Piedmont, J. Betzki's, 18 Seaboard, and Riviera are all discussed.
