  1. @thurbers No harm, no foul. I tend not to post "healthy" cookbooks (or genre stuff like Paleo or Keto or Vegan or Vegetarian, etc). The Giada & newer Bittman cookbooks fall under that category, IMHO (that was a trend just a short while ago...chefs were all writing "healthy" cooking cookbooks. Bobby Flay's "healthy" cookbook is currently on sale, too, I believe), so I didn't post them. I figure if someone has a special interest regarding Kindle cookbooks, they can go to Amazon's web site and locate the books for themselves.
  2. As I noted in my post, there are three Magnolia Kindle cookbooks currently on sale. I noted that some reviewers of those books complained they were basically the same book with some recipe swap-outs. Buyer Beware, I guess.
  3. Wow. Talk about a fire sale! Here are a lot of TV chef books but there are some gold nuggets amongst them. Some non-TV chef books, as well. The "Look Inside" feature doesn't work for a lot of the books...must be a publisher thing. I know she's persona non grata to some but a lot of her cookbooks are on sale: "Paula Deen's Southern Cooking Bible: The New Classic Guide to Delicious Dishes with More Than 300 Recipes" Kindle Edition $.99US "Paula Deen's The Deen Family Cookbook" Kindle Edition $.99US "Paula Deen Celebrates!: Best Dishes and Best Wishes for the Best Times of Your Life" Kindle Edition $.99US Paula Deen's "The Lady & Sons Just Desserts: More than 120 Sweet Temptations from Savannah's Favorite Restaurant" Kindle Edition $.99US "Paula Deen & Friends: Living It Up, Southern Style" Kindle Edition $.99US A different kind of TV chef: Carla Hall's "Cooking with Love: Comfort Food that Hugs You" Kindle Edition $.99US Another TV chef: Rachael Ray's "My Year in Meals" Kindle Edition $.99US Rachael Ray's "Everyone Is Italian on Sunday" Kindle Edition $.99US Rachael Ray's "Week in a Day" Kindle Edition $.99US The TV theme continues: Buddy Valastro's "Baking with the Cake Boss: 100 of Buddy's Best Recipes and Decorating Secrets" Kindle Edition $.99US Graham Elliot's "Cooking Like a Master Chef: 100 Recipes to Make the Everyday" Extraordinary Kindle Edition $.99US Previously on sale a year ago: "Sara Moulton's Everyday Family Dinners" Kindle Edition $.99US Non -TV authors: "Callie's Biscuits and Southern Traditions: Heirloom Recipes from Our Family Kitchen" Kindle Edition $.99US From the maker/inventor of the Cronut Dominique Ansel's "Dominique Ansel: The Secret Recipes" Kindle Edition $.99US Use the "Look Inside" feature to see list of recipes and some intriguing food photography. Tamar Adler's "An Everlasting Meal: Cooking with Economy and Grace" Kindle Edition $1.99US Part memoir, part cookbook, Molly Wizenberg's "A Homemade Life: Stories and Recipes from My Kitchen Table" Kindle Edition $.99US From Harlem's "Melba" restaurant, Melba Wilson's "Melba's American Comfort: 100 Recipes from My Heart to Your Kitchen" Kindle Edition $.99US There are three versions of cookbooks with recipes from Magnolia (the bakery, not the HGTV-related one). Here's one: "The Complete Magnolia Bakery Cookbook: Recipes from the World-Famous Bakery and Allysa Torey's Home Kitchen" Kindle Edition $1.99US James Beard Award-winning chef Cory Schreiber teams up with Julie Richardson, owner of Portland’s Baker & Spice for "Rustic Fruit Desserts: Crumbles, Buckles, Cobblers, Pandowdies, and More" Kindle Edition $2.99US These two are NOT sale-priced but the prices are much lower than normal. I don't know if the prices will be further reduced. I am posting these in case anyone is interested: Lidia Matticchio Bastianich's "Lidia's Mastering the Art of Italian Cuisine: Everything You Need to Know to Be a Great Italian Cook" Kindle Edition $6.99US "Williams-Sonoma The Best of Thanksgiving: Recipes and inspration for a festive holiday meal" Kindle Edition $5.12US I am a US Prime member and the price you see may vary.
  4. Thank you for posting this!
  5. I discovered two more of Grace Young's cookbook on sale for the Kindle: Grace Young's "Stir-Frying to the Sky's Edge: The Ultimate Guide to Mastery, with Authentic Recipes and Stories" Kindle Edition $.99US Grace Young's "The Wisdom of the Chinese Kitchen: Classic Family Recipes for Celebration and Healing" Kindle Edition $.99US I believe you can use the "Look Inside" feature on both of these books for a list of the recipes. I am a US Prime member and the price you see may vary.
  6. @cdh thanks for posting these. I bought the Ruhlman, the McGee and Grace Young books. It's like Prime Day all over again.
  7. I fell down an Amazon rabbit hole this morning: "Michael Symon's 5 in 5 for Every Season: 165 Quick Dinners, Sides, Holiday Dishes, and More" Kindle Edition $1.99US Different than his other "5x5" cookbook in that it emphasizes seasonal vegetables and fruits. 8. I thought I would post this here instead of starting a new discussion. "Feds: Backyard chickens sicken people in 44 states"
  9. "Pepperidge Farm Issues A Recall Of Goldfish Crackers Due To Salmonella Fears" Click on "a complete list of products" in the article for a link to their web site listing the products being recalled.
  10. Two sale items...One from my BookBub email this morning: "The Indian Family Kitchen: Classic Dishes for a New Generation" Kindle Edition $1.99US And this was one sale back in May but given the currant heat wave, I thought I'd re-post it: "Paletas: Authentic Recipes for Mexican Ice Pops, Shaved Ice & Aguas Frescas" Kindle Edition $1.99US I am a US Prime member and the price you see may vary. edited to add one other book. This is NOT a bargain-basement-priced ecookbook. That being said, this is the lowest price I've seen for it since I've been watching it on Amazon so I am posting it: "The Epicurious Cookbook: More Than 250 of Our Best-Loved Four-Fork Recipes for Weeknights, Weekends & Special Occasions" Kindle Edition $5.99US
  11. Ritz Crackers has announced a recall of their Ritz-Bits-type filled sandwich crackers. "Ritz Cracker products Recalled Over Salmonella Fears" And here's a list of all of the recalled products: "Mondelēz Global LLC Conducts Voluntary Recall" It's a PDF file so you can download to your own computer if need be.
  12. I am reviving this ancient discussion to post a link to an article concerning a new Chick-fil-A venture: "Chick-fil-A is taking on Blue Apron in an unprecedented move for a fast-food chain" "Meal kit service"? You already sell this, Chick-fil-A...it's called a drive-thru bag.
  13. From this afternoon: "Manresa: An Edible Reflection" Kindle Edition $2.99US I am a US Prime member and the price you see may vary.
  14. Amazon Prime Day is over but the sales still go on for some items: Instant Pot DUO Plus 60, 6 Qt 9-in-1 Multi- Use Programmable Pressure Cooker, Slow Cooker, Rice Cooker, Yogurt Maker, Egg Cooker, Sauté, Steamer, Warmer, and Sterilizer $99.95 US Which is $20 less than what I paid for it just before last Christmas for my oldest brother, The Idiot.
  15. Very cool! I wasn't aware they had non-knife utensils available, as well. My mom had the CutCo kinfe set so the handles look very familiar to me. Are you aware if there were any more utensils offered by CutCo??
  16. One sale item from my BookBub email this morning led me to the other two that I found: "Preserving Summer's Bounty: A Quick And Easy Guide To Freezing, Canning, Preserving, And Drying What You Grow (Rodale Garden Book)" Kindle Edition $1.99US Yossy Arefi's "Sweeter off the Vine: Fruit Desserts for Every Season" Kindle Edition $1.99US Nigel Slater's "Eat: The Little Book of Fast Food" Kindle Edition $1.99US I am a US Prime member and the price you see may vary.
  17. In case anyone is interested: Instant Pot Ultra 8 Qt 10-in-1 Multi- Use $119.95US The Mashable web site says this is the same price as it was on Black Friday.
  18. @Shelby Prime Day ends tonight (Tuesday, July 17) at Midnight, P.S.T. or 3 A.M. East Coast time.
  19. I'm biding my time. I'll look over the future Lightning Deals for the rest of the night but will likely wait until tomorrow to see what piques my interest.
  20. I also forgot to mention that my sister-in-law cooks on her patio. She had to use her electric deep fryer and didn't want to heat up the kitchen (or fill it with the fumes of fried food) so she set it up on a table in her backyard patio, which I thought was brilliant.
  21. This has been on sale before. The author is a host on one of those Food TV shows. Amy Thielen's "The New Midwestern Table: 200 Heartland Recipes" Kindle Edition $1.99US I am a US Prime member and the price you see might vary.
  22. That Morimoto cookbook has been drifting through Amazon's Kindle ecookbooks section for some time but never with a low enough price so that I could post it in the "Crazy Good e-Book Bargains" discussion. Nice to see you with a copy of it.
  23. Or plant them later. Onions are an autumnal crop around here. Every October/November, you can smell the onions in the fields (Kern County is where Joseph Wambaugh's "The Onion Field" killings took place).
  24. It's possible the cheese that person used could have been previously frozen. Cheese that has been frozen tends to crumble when used on a grater, so perhaps it did the same with this guillotine-type cutter. The cheese in the video must have been at room temperature to be sliced so easily by the wire cutter. It's the "Oops! I forgot to take the cheese out of the refrigerator and need some slices now" moments that might test cheese wire-cutters.
  25. This. We've had triple digit weather for over a week now and I haven't turned the stove or oven on during that time. The microwave is a lifesaver when it comes to making meals when it's too hot to cook.
