  1. To me these meals look so much more appetizing than the previous mining meals.
  2. My sleep was troubled. In my dream I was asked to contribute a dish to a potluck dinner. I was searching through boxes and boxes of bags of Rancho Gordo beans. I finally selected midnight black beans, but they never got cooked because I couldn't find a pot. It was not a happy dream.
  3. The tocsin sounds. I have received the fatal notice. Of the beans, beans, beans -- To the tolling of the beans, Of the beans, beans, beans, beans -- Beans, beans, beans -- To the moaning and the groaning of the beans.
  4. Onion rings as well.
  5. And now amazon has given notice that Amazon Prime Now is ending, at least in my area, at the end of the month. Whole Foods ordering as been folded into amazon.com. When I tried to use amazon.com to order from Whole Foods I ran into a problem they require you to give a number that can accept accept text messages. Why can't an intergalactic space ship company just make it easier to buy their stuff?

    Dinner 2021

No idea what that is but it's beautiful.
  7. Similar happened here. When I first logged into the amazon app on my iPad some while ago, my son got a notice that someone had logged into his amazon account. He immediately told amazon it wasn't him. They froze my account. We once had used my son's cellphone number trying to set up my late lamented and sorely missed, now non-functional Echo Connect device. How Jeff returned from space in less than two pieces I will never know.
  8. So too are my beans.
  9. Today's Wall Street Journal has a timely article about a French fry robot. It bolts to the ceiling so does not take up precious counter space.
  10. Safer, I certainly agree.
  11. I took one for the team. My store-bought frozen fries tonight were "air fried" in the APO, 20 percent steam, 204C for 16 minutes. Quite tasty, no leftovers. The question remains: why do this? Deep fried frozen potatoes are better and quicker, and just as easy.
  12. I should clarify that my Whole Foods in-store experiences were pre-amazon.
  13. I've been in Whole Foods twice. Once a friend took me. I bought a feather duster and bulk chocolate. I love the feather duster. The bulk chocolate was vile. I went once with my granddaughter. We circumnavigated the store a couple times but did not purchase anything.
  14. Where I live in New Jersey we used to have Amazon Fresh. Delivered by the US post office, I believe from Philadelphia. Most grocery selection was nondescript but there was interesting meat and seafood available from third party vendors. Even Australian meat pies. (no toes.) Then amazon got a new corporate manager who did away with Amazon Fresh outside the metropolitan areas where amazon delivered Amazon Fresh directly in their own trucks, as opposed to delivery through the post office. Then we were offered Whole Foods delivery from Amazon Prime Now. Much better produce selection, better meat selection, and disappointing seafood. Disappointing seafood selection, not disappointing seafood quality. I can't believe Whole Foods does not sell clams. A few years ago our local government fully approved construction of a new Whole Foods market within walking distance of where I live. They have yet to break ground. Bezos is too preoccupied with Elon Musk. Surely Musk can figure out how to successfully sell mollusks.
  15. I started reading yesterday.
  16. The three times I've visited Niagara falls we ate in Canada. Perhaps if you say 'eh' convincingly enough they will let you in. How well can you swim? Roy Andersson's most recent film, About Endlessness, has a dinner scene near the end that mentions visiting Niagara falls. How delicious to hear Niagara falls pronounced in Swedish.
  17. I should hazard a powder monkey is someone who transports blasting powder, as opposed to baking powder.
  18. (I suspect as above.) Alas, if he sent a natural sharpening stone, I never use it.
  19. Plus it gives me an idea for plating.
  20. Pleased to report after some weeks of tomato products the MEPAL bowl cleaned up easily in the sink with but a little drop of Dawn. No stain, no odors. No need to use the dishwasher. I did misspeak: I believe my color is Nordic Blue, not Nordic Green.
  21. So do we, but it's half a mile away.
  22. For stock, I would agree. I'm not so sure chili would be favored by a thin steel pot. I foresee a future of burnt bottoms and much Bar Keepers Friend.
  23. Not just any t-shirt.
  24. What you need is a Zojirushi!
