  1. I'll try to find out today...
  2. For the moment, seems the staff has all remained the same. There is a change in the air, but noone knows what it is. And it is sure that Benoit Guichard is retiring soon...

    L'Ami Louis

I have, but, if you've been there before, you know it's the place that NEVER changes. Same staff. Same foie gras, steak/poulet roti, pyramidal pomme frites, and selection of fruit for dessert. Same huge bill. Same American tourist-trap (at times).
  4. Sorry! I didn't go because the reservation was given to my by someone else, however , as the restaurant didn't answer their phones, I couldn't make the switch!! I'll be going very soon, however, and a few of my friends and clients have given Senderens excellent reviews. A few pictures may be found on this blog, for those who are interested: Food Hack
  5. I recently ate there, and spent two hours after my lunch drinking with M. Bouchet himself. He really is happy to be out of the Michelin rat-race, and has even sent registered letters to all of the top guides telling them he doesn't want his establishment mentionned. He recently had the Michelin inspectors who said "Dominique, you making it difficult for us, are you a bistro or a gastro", and he told them to get lost! I had a great time, and he really knows what his strong points are, and doesn(t care about the critics...
  6. ...and I'll be eating there today for lunch!
  7. I spoke to the Jamin people a couple of months ago as soon as I heard the rumour. They confirmed that Jamin was indeed for sale, but said that Del Burgo talks too much, and always throws around ideas, then drops them. Time will tell.
  8. I enjoyed the article, but was pretty surprised that the only Parisian chef they mentionned was Gilles Choukron. Angl' Opera is a less than stellar concept, and he hasn't done much since he was in Chartres, except the Café des Delices (now closed).
  9. Wow! I have eaten there on many occasions , and simply do not agree with you. On every occasion the food was good, and interesting, and service friendly, although sometimes slow. Seems you have a big axe to grind...
  10. It said "1966", and my post has mysteriously disappeared!!

    Bistro Look

l'Ami Louis is certainly the standard 1980's look and Apple still loves it 80's look? AMI LOUIS?!?
  12. Steingarten discovered him in 1966?! He is ahead of his time!!!

  14. Cityvox is crap. I would never use them, as their writers don't know anything about Paris...

    Detourbe?

  16. John, where did François Simon write that?
  17. Strange, isn't it? KFC has a few outlets in Paris, and they all do a phenomenal business all the time...but only recently, after about 10 years , have they started expanding a little into the suburbs.
  18. "The Most Complete Restaurant Guide for Montreal".......
  19. I reckon Taco Bell would make a fortune in Paris. Imagine that, cheap, fake Mexican fast-food, the same quality as most of the current "Mexicans" in Paris, at a fraction of the price!!
  20. Forget it, there's not even anything equivalent to a Taco Bell in Paris. I once ate at Susan's Place, apparently the winner of Best Chili in Europe, and it was disgusting. Oh, and Susan is Polish.
  21. Wow, the Express is really on top of things! The Bistro Romain! Quel secret!
  22. Yvan, formerly of La Grande Cascade is running the place now. The project will be unvealed offically to the world in September...
