@Kim Shook My grandma was so much better looking than this. She would be smiling as I try, as she did, to overcome challenges. You would recognize by my extraordinary good looks that we swam in the same gene pool!

@liuzhou No no no. Everyone knows that the knife needs to be moved further to the right to make room for the phone. Anything else suggests an old fashioned, mannerly attention to one’s dining companion(s) and an interest in the food being served.

The man is extremely well read and well educated. Knows better about all of these things. Trying for humour. Exaggeration is a mark of humour. But it’s a little like the timing needed for stand-up comedy. It needs to be handled deftly. Where was his editor I wonder.

Thanks. My heart always beats a little faster when I see anything that uses canned sardines. They are cheap, convenient, tasty and nutritious. Doesn’t get much better than that.

Even though I am a huge fan of kitchen toys, both large and small, I have trouble getting my head around using a slicer when making one single sandwich. But of course I recognize that such decisions are personal choices. Thanks for sharing your experience with this “toy”. I would have been jealous at one time in my life.

Second attempt on the shoestring fries. This time 10 minutes at 400°F. Definitely better. Might still add a couple of minutes next time.
