  1. OK this is not a reflection on you at all but these are not what I think of as shoestring fries.
  2. It, along with the canned food, leaves me shaking my head. We hold some cuisines in such high regard only to discover that they serve food from cans and mix wine with cola. And more, can elevate such things. I am speaking with admiration not derision!
  3. Wonderful post although I do not think that is where I first learned of this place. But I was delighted to read of yet another open-faced sandwich: “Ask for montaditos (mounted bread) and you're liable to end up with these...”
  4. You mentioned a fantastic line of tinned products and I remember reading some time ago about a tapas bar where the offerings were only tinned goods. I remember being impressed but I no longer recall where I read it.
  5. Tougher than say, for instance, microwave instructions? Many leave you to work it out yourself stating that their instructions are good for a X000W model. In the end I think the best they can offer you is a starting point.
  6. I read somewhere that some products were including Air fryer instructions but I have yet to come across any. “Illustrating the popularity of the air fryer, some frozen foods now have instructions for using this appliance right on the package, and I think we will see more of this in the months to come. Meanwhile, for a general rule of thumb, set the air fryer at 400°F and start checking smaller items at around eight minutes, larger items around 10 minutes, and give the basket a nice shimmy and shake halfway through the cooking to redistribute the food, and give it a chance to brown and crisp up evenly.” From here.
  7. Well I now know more about frozen, vacuum-packed fish and botulism than I ever thought I wanted to know thanks to you!
  8. The town looks as though it belongs to another century which I guess it does! What an experience for the little one. And such a breakfast!
  9. I do still have my A4 box but it does not get a lot of use. It’s a matter of endurance. It’s enduring but I’m not doing quite that well!😂
  10. My goal was to produce a protein, a carb and a vegetable as easily as possible. This was not a complete success but gave me a roadmap forward. I placed the beans which had been tossed in some oil, and the hash brown patty in the bottom of the basket. I put a rack over them and added the frozen burger. The hashbrowns were perfectly cooked and I was satisfied with the green beans but the burger was overcooked and as tough as shoe leather. Cooking temperature was 380°F and cooking time was 15 minutes. My next iteration will involve adding the burger to the rack later in the cooking cycle.
  11. Does this help? I am no food scientist but it sounds quite reasonable. Click.
  12. This cannot help but be a great diversion! Thanks for taking on the job of amusing us!

    "English" foods (?)

Absolutely. Depending on my mood I will do it one way or the other. Sometimes it might depend on what I am going to add to the toasted sides

Or perhaps it was a tartine?

    "English" foods (?)

“But the texture of a crumpet is quite different from that of an English muffin. Crumpets are chewy for starters, not crispy. (Though if toasted nicely, they can get a crispy edge to the top.) English muffins have a sourdough flavor that lingers at the back of your tongue and is often rolled in cornmeal before baking for their signature grainy texture. Crumpets tend to be softer, and milder in flavor.” Click

I can’t imagine why one would think that English muffins are like crumpets. Would be tricky making an Egg McMuffin with crumpets.
  17. Because putting hot food in your refrigerator raises the temperature in there. I think it’s a matter of common sense. It’s OK as long as it’s something relatively small. I do it quite frequently even though I know better.
  18. Thanks very much for sharing this It seemed to be one of the more honest reviews that I have watched. I was definitely not impressed with the Insta air fryer. A lifetime ago I might have wished for the Ninja but in the end I’m glad I have the Cosori.
  19. I must say that this was rather good. A frozen burger and some sliced mushrooms all cooked together at 380°F for about 15 minutes. I sprayed the mushrooms with some oil but did nothing to the burger. But before I removed everything for service I dropped some butter in there and did a quick toss.
  20. Here’s the thing. In order for things to cook all the way through and brown properly they need to be spread out. If you only want 4 french fries at a time like @Shelby, the smaller unit would work fine but if you wanted a decent serving the larger unit will do the job.
  21. I am not sure that anyone would be lucky enough to have all of these and hence do a comparison. I have the Cosoori (the first one that you linked to). I am not 100% sure that I understand your question. There is a removable basket and a drawer. Between the removable (perforated) basket and the drawer is the space where oil collects so your food is not sitting in a pool of oil. You cannot use the basket without the drawer or vice versa. At least that is the situation with the unit that I have and with the previous unit that I had. The fan and the heating element are housed above the drawer in what one might consider the lid I suppose.
  22. I, too, wondered about the grill marks but after watching a couple of videos I now understand why they appear the way they do. The grill “ribs” form a circular pattern on the grill. There is no possibility of getting the usual diamond pattern that I can see.
  23. I do like sausages and I don’t think I have cooked them in the air fryer yet. Thanks I will add them to my next shopping list.
