Quite the storied neighbourhood. And it’s still within reach of many eat-in or take-out food options I take it from your many and varied postings in the dinner thread.
-
These are sold as shoestring frozen fries. They would’ve benefitted from a little longer in the air fryer (or a higher temperature). But sprinkled with a little of TJ‘s umami flavouring they were quite good. 360°F for 10 minutes. No added oil.

Thank you! Every once in a while I manage to redeem myself. 🙂

I seem to recall when I used to make a lot of Indian dishes that a very few of them would call for black cumin. I’m guessing this would be the Wild mountain variety.
-
Wild Mountain cumin has such a wonderful ring to it in a way that Tame Moutain cumin just doesn’t. 😂 marketing. Marketing. Marketing.

Looks like you chose your apartment wisely!

Trust us! -
Is there only one setting? If so do you know the temperature of that setting? Thanks.
-
Wow! Thank you.

Thanks. i’m guessing without access to an outdoor grill a little smokiness occasionally is acceptable. I had no illusions whatsoever that it would work on induction!
-
I’m not quite sure what you are saying. Will the sausages, pepper and onions be done using the air fryer function and then the hatch peppers using the grill function?
-
Like @FauxPasI have induction but my curiosity is such that I must ask about smoke. I know you live in an apartment so I am guessing you must have some powerful range hood.

Although I am aware that there are posts about hard boiled eggs in the air fryer the very idea struck me as foolishness. No one even mentioned perhaps poking a hole in the egg before attempting this. But since I had committed to pushing the limits I decided in for a penny in for a pound. I did not poke a hole in it! The thought of an exploded egg in there made me extremely anxious but damn it worked just fine! 250°F for 16 minutes (straight from the refrigerator) large size supermarket egg, peeled under cold water. Easy peasy.

Yesterday. Another pork chop with some frozen whole leaf spinach which was cooked in the microwave. I had intended to be a little more experimental but I must’ve been extremely hungry. Today was frozen chicken nuggets. This is the first time I have tried them. I was not impressed and neither was my four-legged roomie. He who lives for a bite of chicken turned his nose up at them. Don’t think this had anything to do with the method of prep. Will try another brand next time. 400°F for 10 minutes.

A perfect way to refuel while on vacation. -
I also came across this recipe but at the very thought of tuna and passion fruit I had to retire to my bed with a G&T and some gravol.
-
I was so curious I launched a major research effort including the infamous Pickle Barrel where I have eaten many times in the past. But not tuna that’s for damn sure.
-
Thank you. This is extremely helpful. Were the chicken tenders frozen?
-
Yes. Almost like Hickory sticks.

Not the most exciting lunch and not the greatest photographs we managed to fit in lunch between Covid swabs and Covid vaccines so that’s not bad. I, of course, was neither swabbing nor vaccinating. From Hello Iris restaurant in Hamilton, Kerry’s chicken strips with honey mustard dipping sauce. My crispy chicken on a bun. No leftovers!

No photograph but in the interest of learning just how versatile the air fryer could be I attempted to reheat some frozen cabbage rolls. I placed them in a disposable aluminum dish which I covered with tinfoil and put them in the air fryer at 350° for 20 minutes. After this time they were barely even thawed. I gave them another 20 minutes and they were still far from heated through. At this point I removed the foil and put them in the CSO on steam bake 325°F for 15 minutes they were great. (I would normally do these in the CSO for 20 minutes and they would be perfect.)

A sophisticated choice for the little one but not in the least surprising!
