  1. A bit messy to eat but tasty nevertheless. Tomato and cheese sandwich with one of the tomatoes that arrived with the corn that I had yesterday.
  2. I don't think you can do anything different. You need to turn it off and back on again in order to adjust the heat level as far as I have learned.
  3. There is hardly a better medium to grow nasties than stock! It is simply not worth taking a chance.
  4. Yes! That is a cabin. Not as so many of them seem to be these days, a transplanted McMansion. We had a similar place, built not much later than this one. In Ontario, of course.
  5. Oh no! Whew. At least the Crystal sauce is still there.
  6. Two overcooked poached eggs on homemade toast spread with muhammara. (So far I have found nothing that improves poached eggs on buttered toast.)
  7. Toast (made from homemade milk and honey bread) in the Cuisinart. Darkness level 4. Today or tomorrow I will attempt to make a sugar-free ( flour, salt, water and yeast) bread and toast it for the sake of comparison.
  8. Thanks for the feedback. I was certainly not advocating for it. Just making others aware of its existence.
  9. Milk and honey bread for the Thermomix. I chose this particular bread to discover how it toasts in the Cuisinart steam oven. Between the sugars in the milk and the honey it should toast well. Not sure I will do it tonight but will certainly do it in the morning.
  10. Breakfast as it was always meant to be before somebody thought that any kind of cereal would actually hit the spot.
  11. No I haven't I only discovered it today but I did notice that it has some recipes from someone I trust: Barbara Schieving of the Pressure Cooking Today site.

    Air Fryers

Mine has moved on to a better home where it is much appreciated. My bachelor son is loving it.
  13. Well it is my cookbook library (Kindle), my recipe file (now in OneNote), my Joule controller, my unit converter (Imperial to metric and others), my calculator, my Googler for new recipes; explanations of ingredients; incredible inspiration, etc. etc. and perhaps most of all my connection to everyone on eG. Is it a kitchen product?
  14. To those of you who are addicted to your Instant Pot and your smart phone there is now an app for the Instant Pot. Don't know if it is available for an android but if you are an iPhone user then you can just search for Instant Pot in the App Store. It is basically a database of recipes.
  15. A friend dropped by with some fresh tomatoes and some fresh corn. I had managed to miss lunch and was hangry. Real food fast. Using the no muss, no fuss microwave method I was ready to dig into this within six minutes. Unfortunately it was still too hot so I had to wait an extra two minutes. Click I cheat by cutting off the end of the corn before microwaving it.
  16. Finally got around to making muhammara so breakfast this morning was toast with cream cheese and the muhammara.
  17. I was given a duck breast a few days ago and it is in the sous vide now - 58°C for 45 minutes before being seared in a cast-iron pan.
  18. I am quite convinced that the amount of sugar in the bread is the primary factor that determines how well it toasts. Simple breads (flour, water, yeast, salt) do not do well in any toaster that I have found. But those breads I tend to brush with olive oil and pan toast. Different strokes for different folks or different breads.
  19. Glad you raised the issue of various breads and how they respond to being toasted. It is definitely hit and miss initially. I think it does the best job on a simple white sandwich bread, dare I say Wonder Bread, or something similar. Other breads will toast but you do need to figure out the best setting.
  20. IPhone, Instant Pot, Joule, induction range, Thermomix 31, Breville smart oven, Cuisinart steam oven… Wouldn't want to live without any one of them but if I had to give up anything it would not be my iPhone.
  21. Thought I would try my hand at making some almond butter in the Thermomix this morning. Then I managed to empty two jars of jam which is always a good thing! I hate accumulations of jars with a tablespoon or so of stuff in them. Don't think I will become any better fan of almond butter than I am of peanut butter but I'm happy I tried it.

    Dinner 2017 (Part 6)

Yes. I was getting worried about you and logged onto your website and determined that you were probably still in the land of the living.
  23. Yep. Prime and .com. No such deal on the Canadian site without prime. Can't say what it is with prime. Thank you for sharing anyway.

    Dinner 2017 (Part 6)

I have had one for ages but never have found it worked well on either tomatoes or peaches. Not sure what brand I have.
