Had a late lunch so very simple salad was perfect for dinner. Tomato, cucumber and scallions with a purchased dressing (Wafu).

Chawanmushi (Japanese steamed savoury custard) with far too many inclusions! But it provided me much fodder for my newly launched kitchen notebook.

May have been lunch. Might be dinner. In any case it is leftoverJapanese curry combined with leftover steamed vegetables.

This perhaps?

Summer Chicken Salad based on a recipe from Japan: The Cookbook by Nancy Singleton Hachisu. (I failed to take a photo before beginning to toss it. It is plated as a sort of layered salad.) The egg-yolk based dressing needs work on my part.

Didn’t seem especially thin to me! I judged it to be a bit gloopy (that’s a highly technical term).😂

Love my Chicago Metallic sheet pans. I never use them bare. They are lined with silpat or parchment or aluminum foil and parchment. Never dream of putting them in the dishwasher. Only one ever warped. It was used to hold ice cubes when I was baking bread. I tossed them into the pan when the oven was at 550°F. Not too surprised that it warped.

Very sad rendition of rolled omelet with nori. It is time to replace my no longer non-stick pan. Not an excuse but a reasonable explanation.

Japanese curry made with rotisserie chicken. I used an S&B brand “hot” curry roux that was an impulse buy. This was my second attempt at using such a product. The previous time I really hated it. I believe I used a different brand and a different flavour. This was quite palatable and I can see why it would be a comfort food in Japan.

I believe it was the fall of 2010. I had been up to Freer Point with my husband a few times and I had visited Kerry at the townhouse. It was not until 2010 that I actually stayed up there with her.

First meal at home after five weeks away and a long drive back from Manitoulin Island. Store bought rotisserie chicken with two sides – – steamed vegetables and roasted root vegetables. While I find it encouraging that one can get sides that are not macaroni salad, coleslaw or potato salad salad,? these vegetables were desperately in need of seasoning! But I was hungry and these did the trick for tonight.

And you thought she was going to give you the cold shoulder.

After McDonald’s we drove straight through! Was home shortly after three o’clock. Thanks to all of you for your kind words and I hope we were able to entertain you at least a little bit!

I will be feeling no pain tonight. After two glasses of wine and an aged negroni you had all better hope I can make it to bed under my own steam. Because Kerry doesn’t have anything left in terms of strength to carry me she has done all the packing. Well most of it she just reminded me. There are still things coming out of the woodwork need to be packed.

Dinner tonight was catch as catch can. Kerry had some cottage cheese and I had some leftover steak and kimchi. And the packing continues.

Sounds like a plan.

Indeed it is a freezer that keeps on giving. Glad you have enjoyed our visit. Time will tell regarding the return. No matter how good the KA was it would not serve as nourishment for the day. I managed to cobble together a slice of bread from the magical freezer, the last remaining kumato and an egg. By no means the prettiest plate but it was tasty.

Good morning. It is 17°C and cloudy. We won’t get much above 23° for our last full day. Kerry found a real treat in the freezer: I don’t usually like sweets this early in the morning but I’ll always make an exception for a kouign-amann (courtesy of @Alleguede.

Is yours out of warranty?

Can’t wait for us to catch up! Thanks.

Hmm. Well I’m not going to start following so I guess I lose. But thanks for enlightening me.
