A copy of this book is on its way to me as I found it last week very cheaply on a used book site. May take a while. It’s coming from the UK.

Beautiful. Far beyond what I would even dream of attempting but I do enjoy it vicariously. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you. It was very tasty. For the beef I used the only beef I had in the house which was a small skirt steak. The more I study Japanese cuisine the more I realize that, like any other cuisine, it is both evolving and amoebic.

Might be the T-fal. No it’s not the same pan but it does have a metal handle. Edited to revise my assumption.

Knives on acid are doubly dangerous.

I’ve taken this book and put it on my wish list. Then very shortly after removed it from my wish list. I have rinsed and repeated many times. Let’s face it. I am delusional to ever think I could live with a minimalist kitchen.

Thanks. If I had not been quite so tired last night I would’ve remembered this.

I doubt it’s sophisticated enough to do anything but white rice.

But you see this was an excuse to buy a new toy and at the same time have a small gift for my granddaughter. I’m devious that way.

Washed five times. Left to dry for close to 40 minutes. It’s a habit.

Me neither. I have a Zo which cooks rice perfectly every time without any sticking and I only need to rinse the inner bowl to get every last grain of rice out of it.

I put it through its paces and came out with a C minus. Nothing wrong with the rice BUT there was some sticking and the tiniest bit of scorching on the bottom. It is very small and the base is flat so it is not that easy to clean. I’ll give it a few more chances but I can see my granddaughter becoming quite frustrated if it is this difficult to clean.

But come on. It’s not nearly as sexy as an electric lunchbox now is it? 😂

We found it in a shop on Central Parkway, West in Mississauga. They have the best stuff in terms of what’s the latest in kitchen gadgets particularly electronic ones. This was $30 plus tax. It comes with a one-year warranty and if anything happens the store will take care of the warranty service. As you can see they have many branches around the GTA.

Today @Kerry Beal and I finally made it to the Asian grocery store to stock up on various ingredients (mostly for me). Kerry wanted to have lunch at a place she remembered we enjoyed a while back. This place. But it appears to of gone out of business. She did pop next-door to the Filipino Store and grabbed us each does a bag of decent Chicharrones. But all was not lost as we ended up having lunch at Kenzo ramen house. Gyoza. King Ramen for Kerry. Tonkotsu Ramen for me. Certainly took the edge off our disappointment that other restaurant had disappeared.

Today @Kerry Beal and I spent some time in one of our local Asian grocery stores looking at food and kitchen toys. These safety instructions were on the packaging for a knife. We also could not resist a photograph of these although we did resist the purchase of same.

Over here @JoNorvelleWalkerwas asking about rice cookers able to handle small amounts of rice. Today @Kerry Beal and I found this: Note that the included rice measuring cup is much smaller than what one usually finds in a rice cooker. Those are millilitres on the right-hand side. My granddaughter loves rice so I thought this might be perfect for her. I will have to put it through its paces before it changes hands though.

Thank you so much for the edification. I have had apple butter once and scrapple once. I hope to never repeat either experience.

Thanks for sharing this. Resonated on many levels.

I have nothing to add to my comments in the link above. I never did try cooking the I froze.

I thought something similar. I think some of the bread I find in my supermarket is way older than this.

I have often wondered what purpose these seafood blends might serve. I see them occasionally in the freezer cases in the supermarket. They are definitely not TJ‘s but I will file this away for future reference.
