  4. I used to dislike potatoes immensely. It had much more to do with the need to peel them as with anything else. That was in the days before we realized we were tossing away the best part of the potato when we peeled them all. Now I can thoroughly enjoy a potato but nothing will ever measure up to my memory of those jersey Royals.

    Thanks. For a very short period of time we were able to purchase a bock beer in the spring here in Canada but I’m guessing it didn’t catch on. I seem to recall it being being a Carlsberg offering. My husband and I were very sad when it disappeared.

    I thought at first that your spelling had gone to hell in a handbasket until I looked more closely both at the word and the beer. I read Malbec! Should have known better than to think you would serve wine with this!
  7. I too have had Jersey Royals once in my life. It was not in England but in Denmark. It was the first time I understood why people might like potatoes! But I know that recently my sister who still lives in England has complained that they are not what they used to be. Is anything?
  8. My guess would be that it ensures equal sized triangles of pizza so there is no fighting over who got the biggest piece.😀
  9. I love chicken liver but for reasons that are completely inexplicable I consider it almost a different organ meat than mammal liver. I don’t think I am too far out. I notice that people who wouldn’t dream of eating mammal liver are quite happy to eat chicken liver.
  10. Beef. My favourite is calves liver but it’s not easy to come by. Used to be in every supermarket.
  11. I am not much of a fan. My husband certainly was. But it’s not in my knowledge base. I believe we have some very reputable delis.
  12. Likely just Canadian beef. Can’t quite see us importing Egyptian liver.
  13. Well the lunch we had was certainly not the lunch we planned. I was quite sure I had found a new restaurant in Hamilton serving Peruvian food. When I suggested this to Kerry she pointed out that we had been in this restaurant previously. I foolishly argued. I should know better by now. They offered a braised lamb shank which had my mouth watering. However, when Kerry called to order it she was told it would take an hour. That would not work for us. But in her travels Kerry had noticed another new restaurant in Burlington — Karioka. We really needed @Smithyto advise us on the menu. I was drawn to the liver having enjoyed an amazing Egyptian preparation of liver at another restaurant. This was good but nowhere near as good as I had hoped. Kerry had the kibbeh and kushari. We ended up with many sauces. We needed help matching them appropriately. Calamari Kibbeh. Kushari. Liver. My plate. Please note no kibbeh and no kushari. I even made sure those leftovers left the house with Kerry.

  15. I have definitely been given scissors as part of the cutlery in Korean restaurants. in the kitchen I certainly find scissors an efficient tool for snipping chives. I also often use scissors on pizza.
  16. I was well aware of the need to acclimate wood products but this was the first I was aware of the need to do the same for laminates. Thanks.

    Air Fryers

    Of course you could! But having once owned a Phillips air fryer I am very doubtful that you could put one in there!
  19. Well I admit that I sniggered to myself when I read this. Thought sure somebody was pulling your leg! But before I opened my mouth and made a fool of myself I did a bit of research. I learned that laminate flooring has a fiberboard core. It needs time to acclimate to the humidity in the room where it will be installed. Never a dull moment on eG. I may never have a reason to use this new knowledge but I am still happy to tuck it away somewhere. Thanks!

  21. Freeze it in ice cube trays. Decant frozen cubes into Ziploc bag.
  22. And I misread the title to this post. I read it as Chinese Torture for Okra and I was all for it! So disappointed to discover my error.
