    Dinner 2021

Tonight's dinner will be Cooks Country Minestrone with homemade breadsticks ala Olive Garden.
  2. Me? Old Vine Zinfandel. It's pretty much my go-to everyday red winde. We used to do the Willamette Valley wine tours and brought home cases of Bogle wines.
  3. Was it this? Clickety
  4. Cooks Illustrated has consistently top rated the Cuisinart. I have a slightly different model Cuisinart 14 cup that I've been using for more than 15 years and it's been great as well. Top-rated model.

    Dinner 2021

Last night’s dinner was Bangers and Mash, Not much to look at but boy it was tasty.
  6. How long has that been?
  7. Are you leaving us to wonder where you're headed? And congratulations on the Blue Star!
  8. I think grocery prices are shocking everyone these days. I do my shopping online for curbside pickup and scroll though most every day to add items for my weekly order. Every time I look the prices have jumped. Example: a pint container of grape tomatoes is now $3.58. Crazy. And meat prices are over the top even though this is beef country. Unfortunately those costs never seem to come back down.
  9. What's the 'favorite beer'?
  10. I use the big ice balls for my cocktails. I put some regular ice in the glass first followed by vodka from the freezer, the the ice balls. Drink gets cold faster withe addition of the ice cubes.
  11. Please tell us more about this "simple but spectacular" recipe.
  12. Brilliant!

    AGA Ranges

I looked into this after hearing it mentioned on the Great British Baking Competition. It appears they are mega expensive and were formerly owned primarily by the British gentry. They're quite unusual looking:
  17. I’m reading these ranges may be coming to the US soon.Anyone had experience with them?

Speaking of cauliflower, I made Ina Garten's Cauliflower Gratin the other day. If you love cauliflower you must make it, it is just delicious. Gratin

    Dinner 2021

I've cooked it and it's good...tastes to me a bit like turnips.
  22. I have the same knife, it's great. Recently I acquired this one. For it's price of $10.74 it was a real bargain, super sharp and it can go in the d/w.
  23. there are a lot of induction owners in this forum, maybe they will comment.
  24. Sometimes cheapest isn't the best idea. (I get it though, it's the OP's choice)
  25. I went from a GE dual fuel gas range to a GE Cafe Induction slide-in range. I absolutely love it and would never go back. Now I'm just a home cook so I don't need super duper hot burners. What I didn't like about the gas range was: 1. Open flame. 2. Indoor pollution 3. Excessive heat it produced. 4. Difficulty in cleaning the cooktop. My induction burners boil water faster than anything I've ever seen. Burners are plenty hot and it is a dream to keep clean. Here's the one I got. Granted, it was a little pricey but there are induction models more in keeping with your price range.
