I am definitely going to make this. It reminds me a bit of Cornish Pasty, which I love! I have some leaf lard in the freezer too.

see the KAF recipe here.

I made Chicken and Apple Stuffing Casserole Sunday. Boy howdy it was good! The only thing about it I didn't like was the chicken tenderloins...they just dried out. Next time I will replace them with thighs or with l'il Smokies because the rest of the dish was very, very good and the whole house smelled like Thanksgiving. I will definitely make this again. No pic because it really wasn't pretty, it looked like someone (or something) sat in it.

Ah yes. I have the extra dry canister for the Vitamix....I was sure I needed it when I got it 15 (?) years ago. Still haven't used it. -
My most recent must-have is this, a three-in one slow cooker that will also sear. I love slow cookers and now own four of them. One of my favorite things is enjoying the cocktail hour while my dinner cooks itself.

A twenty ounce box of Velveeta blocks is $8.40 at my nearby grocery store. Ahh. Velveeta is my new guilty pleasure. (no snickering.)

When my friend and I go on a grocery binge we take our own bags. However, it is not uncommon for us to leave them in the trunk when we go inside.

I saw this handy little item on a recent episode of ATK It now lives in my kitchen.

Spotted this recipe this morning. Looks pretty good and I'm gonna try it.

Yeah. I have the 14 cupper Cuisinart and it's really kind of big for me the way I cook now. I may have to replace it with that 7-cup myself.

It may not look important, but this is the best tool I've purchased in a long time: For $6.99 USD it was a steal and it replaced about half a dozen other lesser spatulas in my kitchen. Really sturdy and super handy for any number of tasks. Spatula

Dinner last night was Coq Au Vin, kind of an old-timey meal. Recipe from Cooks Illustrated. Sorry no pic.

Yeah, funny how that happens. Like a 5-pound bag of C&H sugar is now 4-pounds.

My previous home had lots of steps everywhere. Although I'd never fallen there (except once on the icy driveway). New house in a 55+ community has NO steps anywhere. Everything is wheelchair accessible. However, I did manage a couple of falls in the last months; only because the chemotherapy I had left me with neuropathy in my feet which caused me to have a lack of equilibrium. Always a price to pay.

Hey, been there and done that a few years ago. Nothing broken except my pride. Bent my glasses and felt stupid; a few too many martinis. But I didn't have to go the ER. I had thought I'd learned but did it again last year. Now I'm a little more restrained.

Tonight's dinner will be Cooks Country Minestrone with homemade breadsticks ala Olive Garden.

Me? Old Vine Zinfandel. It's pretty much my go-to everyday red winde. We used to do the Willamette Valley wine tours and brought home cases of Bogle wines.

Was it this? Clickety

Cooks Illustrated has consistently top rated the Cuisinart. I have a slightly different model Cuisinart 14 cup that I've been using for more than 15 years and it's been great as well. Top-rated model.

Last night’s dinner was Bangers and Mash, Not much to look at but boy it was tasty.

How long has that been?
