Lovely dry scallops (from Whole Foods) with the side of rice/mixed greens. Scallops were oh so sweet.

Tuna steak with polenta made with addition of fresh corn. Pesto was made yesterday (by hand) and lost some of its color but none of the flavor.

Try Brie or camambert, the texture is similar. It will not have that lovely stinky aroma though...

Good morning @Anna N and @Kerry Beal. We are enjoying sunrise in Maryland as well. Following your adventures with envy. The one thing I used to dislike about taking call was the unpredictable nature of the beast. You think you are done and going home, imagining what's for dinner when your phone/pager rings again. Hope today will be better for Kerry.

Local tomatoes on feta and roasted red peppers purée, basil from my neighbors garden. Wild led salmon and roasted potatoes.

Cold or hot borscht runs in my veins. Sour cream powers my brain. You can take a person out of Russia but you can not take borscht out of her or him. Very timely post since my son and I have just spent six days in Moscow making arrangements for my father's caregiving. Beets rock!

Bumping up this old post. Flying Austrian airlines Moscow Vienna Washington. Business class, compliments of frequent flyer miles. Food was not bad. They also have a chef but I am not sure what exactly he does since everything is pre cooked. Coffee in lounge Breakfast Lunch Pre landing meal

Country ham cooked in large amount of water in instant pot since I did not have time to soak it to reduce the amount of salt. High pressure 15 minutes. I like the texture, it is softer than usual pan seared. Fried egg.

We left Moscow very early this morning, connecting in Vienna on the way to Washington DC. Moscow is a very pleasant city to visit, my son loves going there. I on the other hand, prefer to travel to other places. Growing up there was tough. Also I now go mostly to take care of my father and that is depressing as well. To be honest, every time I leave, there is a little voice in my head saying: now they are going to stop you at the customs control. I am sure my fears are unfounded but stil... Moscow is beautiful, safe, with plenty of historic and cultural things to explore. Exchange rate is good if you posess dollars or euros. I highly recommend it if you have time and means to go.

Last night in Moscow. We splurged on black caviar. Also bought a bottle of Georgian wine. Both, my son and I decided that we prefer much cheaper salmon roe. What can I say, we have pedestrian tastes.

Beer was good according to my son. Salmon roe is indeed sold by weight. About 10 US dollars for 100 grams of better quality roe. Prices outside of central Moscow are probably cheaper.

@liuzhou I graduated from medical school in Moscow in 1991. The textbooks were largely terrible and professor's answer to questions was often "because I said so". Even on this trip we heard that gynecologist's answer to a young lady's fertility problems was "if you really wanted to have a baby, you would be able to get pregnant". I almost exploded hearing that.

Couches were very comfortable. Those are are indeed mulberries. i loved the peas idea as well, they were beautiful and delicious I plan to serve goat cheese stuffed sugar snap peas as appetizers. I will probably open the pods like a book and pipe goat cheese on top.

One fancy dinner for my son and me at White Rabbit, one of Conde Nast 50 best restaurants in the world. We had tasting menu. full menu here http://whiterabbitmoscow.ru/images/menu/dishes-en.pdf the view The chef and I The food after dinner inner we were presented with ceramic noses molded after chef's nose scented with tomato leaves, black bread, chocolate and something else. We picked our favorits (bread and tomato) and were presented with two small bottles of perfume.
