    Breakfast 2020!

bake them longer for based on your pic more crunch TJ's has them.
  2. @md8232 interesting on the CSO however , I feel that the magnificent strength of the CSO is simple : w experience , you put your untoasted favorite bread in there and end up w Spectacular Toast when the CSO Dings .
  3. @md8232 very fine work. a Kudos or two on th way to you I don't know about This nor That but I have opinions . back in the Day , and as soon I can either bake some Good Crumb Bread or get some at TJ's ( Whine Ill pick up soon ) in the Day , putting two ' slices ' in the CSO then dealing w The Cat , and The Coffee etc the CSO did it all for me w no fiddle and faddle I dont see the FBCO as a Toaster good , better , nor the Best.
  4. @Kerry Beal nothing wrong w being hopeful but the CSO was made for toast not the FBCO @md8232 nailed it by mentioning the FBCO might be too big. is it a time for an extension to be built into the kitchen lengthening the counters so there might be room for both the CSO and the FBCO ? as the borders are closed , you might use that to your advantage. just a thought.
  5. I love sourdough . I grew up in the Bay Area and there were always several choices later in life that were fresh and locally made. baguette style. but not everything goes perfectly w SDB full flavored cheese goes better w traditional bread I think. so does chocolate . the sourness of SDB overwhelms some of their flavors. plenty nice to have a choice.
  6. @heidih its possible. the real SPAM had a similar date I never started thus never completed my studies. the mice ate it or its SomeWhere Unknown I store a lot of stuff there.
  7. found this in the Basement Wine Cellar cave à vin I know I had three cans down there , as I was going to do an experiment : Back When : SPAM ( the real deal ) SPAM low salt ( Still real ) Walmart Brand ( above , still probably made by SPAM ) couldn't find two of them. Didn't know mice could open cans ....... but then N.B.: its well known that Real Deal SPAM lasts forever . but Walmarts take on it ?

    Dinner 2020

@gfweb do them as PinWheels : trim and sesson ( lightly ) roll up , I then use bamboo skewers 1/4 the way down , each side cut in 1/2 , either tie or club the skewers abd grill very hot until a little car on each side rest gobble up. the skirts are thicker that way , and you can get ( very ) rare in the middle and a bit of char on the outside. my favorite Boeuf
  9. @Kim Shook Penzey's granulated powders are the best. its important to keep them well sealed , as they lump up after a while. since i have a VacSealer , I put most of the 8 oz in a Vac'd bag , and keep a little out in one of those small spice containers. works well. sometimes I cut a Vac Bag in 1/2 , as this smaller bag works better. seal the new edge and then the powder. BTW I save 4 cents along the way !

    Dinner 2020

@BKEats " 6 lbs of skirt steak "" Holly C*AP ! I can taste them. I always forget : Inside vs Outside : which is better its the thinner one , but I haven't had a SS is so long it doesnt matter that I cant remember. yours look p[erfect . I used to do them as PinWheels on the grill
  11. @Kim Shook keep it . use it . its not going to make any difference to them. rememeber , they sent it to you.
  12. "" What's the "ideal" for toast? "" the toast y0u like the best. CSO , w fresh-et bread does it for me.
  13. thank you again. i believe you are correct : the FBCO might do a lot of things well , and very well its not going to do Toast well. as re : CSO
  14. @md8232 you are so on top of this ! i might have to go to E-Bay and find an old but functional https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mimeograph machine. you know the kind , smelled like benzene ? for more Kudos your Way. but ..... how do those Toasts compare to the CSO ? Ill oder more ink of the Mimeo just in case !
  15. @jimb0 no, not so much branding , advertising etc does the trick up to you , as you are roasting do a double blind or a triple blind and see for your self I did get some Poop Greens a long time ago from SweetMarias I did treat them fairly and , they were not any better then the greens I roasted at that time same for Kona ., as Kona is a very big place and low mid etc matters a lot for the Bush not for me. enjoy you roasting experiences it's in your Personal Cup
  16. @ElsieD OK it looks like a [ relative ] outstanding success as you were able to make it yourself. dont get me wrong i wouldn't mind a loaf of that for myself. toasted , sandwiched etc. crouton-ey and no , Im not being wise I do admire all that are doing these things nothing wrong w me BTW C-19 or not.
  17. Id say this ; get a bread that you might like to eat yourself , w ' good crumb ' a billion years ago , almost it seems https://www.pepperidgefarm.com/product-categories/breads-buns-rolls/ had a Toasting White . it had good crumb and was thicker than the average commercial bread. some time after getting a CSO ( ++ ) I looked for that bread , but it had been discontinued rats. get a bread that you would enjoy yourself for fun , a white bread , and a darker bread. Im pleased that you can venture out , so please follow The Rules. thanks agin for your work here """ Amazon Prime @ Prime Day discounts the FBCO by [ fill in the blank ] " one way or another this will be in my Dreams Tonight. only if I open a bottle of TJ's Rouge thinking about it , BTW P.S.: the freshest bread in the store is in the way back of the loafs try that. just saying. don't stay too long in the store , please
  18. @md8232 good points I think there is still hope for great toast from the FBCO however : there seems to be no ' native ' toast setting nor instructions for toast in the manual , which I have but have not read. Im guessing FBCO will not replace the CSO for toast , or your favorite non-CSO toaster. just s guess , not based on experience . I and sending you a few Kudos for putting the FBCO through its paces for all of us.
  19. @md8232 another way to look a this : when you open the FBCO after making ' toast' ( and it seems there my not be a toast setting , leaving you to decide the bake time and temp , which should not be an issue once you have those numbers down ) was there a puff of steam ? if it took long enough to get browning that your toast dried out consider a higher temp , shorter time ? thanks for doing all this work for me everybody here on eG that is interested
  20. the question is : crusty surface and soft inner 1/2 ? CSO accomplishes this by keeping the fresh breads steam in the sealed CSO box , so the bread does not dry out under the heat , but browns nicely.
  21. yes indeed. CSO shines brightly on toast . worth it just ask a toaster . remember , not everybody here @ eG was ecstatic about the CSO toast. but id say the ( vast ) majority were. since @md8232 is the Index and might be for quite some time one has to calibrate @md8232 toast-view. back in TheDay Im sure the FBCO would have ' fit ' in the trunks spare tire area after a flash trip to Buffalo. Those Were the Days.
  22. its : 1 ) hype 2 ) scarcity in some sort of combinations . for sure . Kona coffee from Hawaii is similarly way over priced. many ' experts ' suggest that very good to the best coffee from Guatemala is as good or better than Kona. we wont get into the discussion of Jamaican (High) Blue Mountain just now. roasting your own is a great deal of fun !
  23. Cave-Man or CowBoy cuts w Big Bone = $$$$$ profits. bone is sold @ the same rate/lbs as the meat.
  24. @jimb0 looks like a nice selection. maybe you should try some of these some day : https://modernfarmer.com/2013/10/flight-jacu-bird/ pre-sorted by the Jacu Bird , it having an eye for the juiciest berry on The Bush.
  25. very interesting . Tech gone Bananas . if you have a family of 4 , do you need to buy two ? ( see the vids @ YouTube ) Jan 2020 this might have been very interesting. now , how ever, for this to take off , they need to add a Suvie Shopper to go to the grocery store and Motor around ( electrically of course ) to pick up your stuff. as we all recall , there were some similar ( but very different ) ideas ref'd here in the past : The modified CSO that scanned what was delivered to you and then cooked your meal , always *****. ( five star ) I think that fizzled . if their pre-packaged food is up to your personal standards , and you can and chose to afford this and the subscripstions ( until we all get vaccinated re C-19 ) go fo it. its also really important that you dont enjoy cooking and dont get personal satisfaction with prep , knife works etc. pre-C-19 : this is a dud. post C-19 : who knows. thanks for the refs. it is interesting P.S.: in thinking about this for a family of 4 : it would work , Im guessing , but the family would be on the thin side. and no , I have not started in on my TJ's Home-blended dry white wine just yet
