  1. if you see a new CSO listed anywhere just buy it toot sweet ! well worth it at almost any price. unfortunately , I ' don't remember ' where my two spares are. That my story and Im sticking to it . each purchased for <<< 170 USD on sale , w free shipping and no tax. just saying .
  2. sometime my frozen veg resting comfortably in the freezer de-hydrate over time. one can tell if there is frost in the bag I refresh them in cold water from frozen and this seems to be quite helpful : right out of the freezer ( MarketBasket Fz mixed veg ) note there are quite a few Floaters 10 minutes later . of note I change the cold water to make sure all items thaw note Green Beans take longer than the rest . only one GB ( 10 O'Clock ) hasn't gotten the message . Im posting this because this is my new technique : using the medium Oxo Salad spinner ! one just lifts out the insert rather than pour into a stainer . Ive been doing this the the clumsy way for years ! and Ive had spinners for ever . also of note : I now use my iPhone 12 Pro rather than my Sony SLR. iPhone works quite well however , the image got blurry changing from the first lens to the second . First time this happened Im not saying I had a bit of angina from this problem , but ..... I tried cleaning the lens , but no-go I called AAPL : and learned that if this happens one taps the glass ( clean fingers of course ) and it focuses . I used to be Tech-y , not so much theses days AAPL is certainly a fine company w outstanding products ! ( F.D.: I do not work for AAPL , but have had their computers since the beginning of Modern Time. I do have a few shares , not too many : well worth it Id say .

the solution to this problem : make more rice . then take the surplus , and add Mix-Ins . use some neutral oil refrigerate . eat the next day as a nice snack. even good cold. " Not Fried Rice " I do this on purpose !
  4. CSO : the only toaster that properly toasts.
  5. what is the 1/2 volume of the 3 qt iPot ? this seems like a trick question , and it may be but its probably 1.5 Qt ? which would be 6 cups ? thus an Rx that said 2 cups of X , and 4 cups of water would fit, right up to the 1/2 way mark on the insert ? Ive been going back and forth w metric and USA cups and Japanese Cups off and on this morning. its been migrainous , quite literally

to be a bit fair: my National / Panasonic works as good as new but Ive had it longer than the Zo's one cn get in the USa but it seems : GoZo theses days which is very fine.

@JoNorvelleWalker OK Why ? I have a number of iPots . and understand most of them having an iPot '' pressure" Rice induction- presser moves an '' essential ' and a so useful item ( read the book ) into :: Why that extra expense? of any kind , working *** as good as new *** 10 cup but I do like the idea of the 3 cup

@JoNorvelleWalker Nice ! Ive been thinking of an AfterTaxInTheMail "" enhancement "" all the Fuzzy ( 0ne item 10 cup ) iPots , and CSO's ( two ' In the Box ' ) this one : https://www.amazon.com/Zojirushi-NS-LGC05XB-Cooker-uncooked-Stainless/dp/B01EVHWNVG/ref=sr_1_3?crid=DZAOGXMCWMHS&keywords=zojirushi+rice+cooker&qid=1648405738&sprefix=zojirushi+rice+cookers%2Caps%2C62&sr=8-3 Just for small rice does Ideas ?

rather than start a new thread ( which is a bit painful ) re: Fuzzy Logic rice cookers ( from Japan ) are the Induction or Induction-Pressure models that much better than the plain Fuzzy ? or are the newer versions just faster giving the same result?
  12. @blue_dolphin you certainly fooled me !

    Rice Cookers

i agree the Fuzzy tie cookers are well worth the investment On-Off rice cookers are fine but the Fuzzies do a lot more , as mentioned above. consider finding this book : https://www.amazon.com/Ultimate-Rice-Cooker-Cookbook-Porridges/dp/1558326677/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1QCC27B3CCE5F&keywords=the+ultimate+rice+cooker+cookbook&qid=1648388462&s=books&sprefix=the+ultimate+rice%2Cstripbooks%2C631&sr=1-1 it was on display at my library a long long time agp and it opened my eyes to the fuzzy potentials. unlike the iPot , these do ' milk ' , which i use for my steel cut oats. iPots can't do this. back then , Zo was non-extant in the US I have an ancient National // panasonic 10 cup ( extra space for MixIns ) it works as if ' brand new ' I cant say if Induction or Pressure-Induction is worth it. other might comment . Im in no hurry . Rice in the N-P takes 55 minutes . but is com[letely unattended and keeps the rice warm. iPots do rice ( I use the pot in a pot method , over water ) Zo seems to have a 3 cup model I asume Japanese Cups , which are smaller than USA cup. hope you can fine the book.
  14. as I understand it : these two books are the same ? ( sorry about the size diff's ) as Amazon is only selling the Top Version
  15. @TdeV I haven't done lamb. so I hesitate to offer ideas. but Id guess it would cook in a similar fashion as beef. I prefer lower temps than ' braise ' w SV , as that jus in the bag , came from the meat Id like to keep at least most of it in the meat. w lamb , there is the issue of the fat : some like lamb fat , some do not . if the lamb is young , the fat is less intense good luck and please post your results w a pic or two.
  16. @ElsieD Nice ! you are going to have some spectacular sandwiches the next day ++ if there is any left !
  17. @FauxPas Mojo has fine taste.
  18. might vent to a garage.
  19. @weinoo I think you've missed the point. sim[ly by scrolling , at home , I see new(-ish ) stuff @ Tj's I rarely find the opinion associated w the stuff helpful its just seeing stuff . that's it. I do understand its a partial list of what they've got and subject to others selection and then opinion but it does give me ideas as I still tend to limit my time @ either Tj's or MarketBasket. previous Tj's list thought a few things I get @ Tj's were awful . I like them and will continue to get them when I remember .

    Dinner 2022

@Ann_T correct as usual . forgot about goulash the thicker version , not the delicious soup version . let's say in ' Hungry, et. al . ' the potatoes back then were not Russets buttery egg based noodles of course !

    Dinner 2022

in my view , gravy almost always prefers mashed potatoes. there are exceptions : Beef Stroganoff is one.

  25. adding ' Best ' to your cookbook titles has been proven to be extremely lucrative . ATK has made its fortune this way over and over and over again. look for books that suggest variations , with explanations , as suggested previously , Shirley Corriher's books do this : https://www.amazon.com/CookWise-Successful-Cooking-Secrets-Revealed/dp/0688102298/ref=sr_1_2?crid=1IL9BYWCECG7C&keywords=cookwise&qid=1648209640&sprefix=cookwis%2Caps%2C406&sr=8-2 https://www.amazon.com/BakeWise-Successful-Baking-Magnificent-Recipes/dp/1416560785/ref=sr_1_6?crid=1IL9BYWCECG7C&keywords=cookwise&qid=1648209776&sprefix=cookwis%2Caps%2C406&sr=8-6
