  1. I'm assuming 'trends' actually means 'marketing trends', correct? Nothing mentioned so far is particularly new, and some have been traditional for decades, or even centuries. In terms of what most people actually do, trends seem to have little significant impact (e.g. although the increased visibility of MC made more people aware of it, few who have a real interest in it were attracted to it because it was trendy).

ETA: Now that this topic has been rolling about in my head a bit, I'd have to say there does seem to be a trend to think more about food, and its sources and preparation (not particularly new or specific, but it does represent a shift).

+1 Very well said. I absolutely agree. :)

  2. Tonight I went to drink, which is in downtown Boston, they say the financial district but they lie.

I had a airline pilot (?) which was apple brandy and was really good, a ramos gin fizz which was the ultimate girly drink, I felt like the best kind of flapper, and a really good sazerac made with cognac. I have pictures, but am far to tired/tipsy to post them right now.

Looks like you really enjoyed your drinks then! :) I will try some good drinks tonight in bar. Post the pictures when you have time. :)

  3. I've always thought durian are very similar to jackfruit, and jackfruit seeds are great. Sort of chestnut like.

I thought of that too when I was a child and then I realized that Durian stinks more than the Jackfruit. And that the I love the jackfruit much better compare with Durian. The Jackfruit seed is one of my favorite local province specialty here in my part of the world. They dry the seeds and make sugar coated candies out of it. :)

  4. Back from a 2 day trip to Macau...

    Fernando's (worth going? Yes)

Food is decent, suckling pig was tender and skin was well cracked ($130/quarter pig). Sardines were reasonable ($40 /2) and the roast bacalhau tasted authentic ($130/"serving"). The environment inside and the immediate areas of the restaurant quite relaxing, nothing like the run-down or under-construction or flashing-lights parts of Macau, but the "black sand" beach is quite umm "black" so don't plan to walk along it for digestion. Food is comparable to to Ole in HK @ half the price so why not...

So that's how the price in Fernandos ranges. This is in USD I assume?

  5. Wow wow wow! Yummy set of dishes dcarch! :) They all look great!

I also like ChrisTaylor's Paella! :) Been thinking of cooking Paella for quite some time now. Hope I'll be successful.
