  2. Ive had a tough week - and its not even over yet - darting children to different day cares and lots of other time consuming stressful things...and Im treating myself. I have just had my first sip of 96 Opus One and its not even 5PM here yet...It seems like it should open up a lot more so Im going to let this glass sit a while in my Riedel Bordeux before continuing on...beautiful purple color though...I'll review it in more depth after it airs out...

  11. I made CHicken Fried steak tonight with cube steak with Cajun - however my gravy really sucked...too bland, no flavor, not the right consistency..anybody have a good recipe for the gravy? thanks! I browned flour in 2 tbls of the leftover oil from the CFS I then put in 3/4 cup milk and 3/4 cup water...and simmered...very poor!
  12. I havent seen this question here but am curious how much beer people, from across the world, can handle. I understand it has a lot to do with what kind of brew, what you ate that evening and other circumstances but this should get the ball rolling...
  13. Although not the kitchen, my wife 2 years ago shattered her elbow walking out of Blackbird Restaurant getting into a cab - slipping and falling...
  14. I am sorry to tell you but the Michelin 2003 award has already been awarded. The youngest ever recipient too:

  16. Colonel, I love your pics of your kitchen accesorries! They usually resemble torture chamber instruments!
  17. service is exactly that friendly, not formal...but if you catch mk at the right time it can be great! Its a subdued elegant yet still hip blackbird atmosphere with the food definately down a few notches kind of place-if that makes sense...

    Vong

Well, if this means anything - which may- Vong closed in Chicago over a year ago and was replaced by Jean Georges V. with VTK - Vongs Thai Kitchen, an absolutely horrendous, inedible, casual site in which to never set foot in again. I loved Vong. I hate VTK - and so does everyone else - in which, I predict will be gone within 6 months... I hope NYC Vong doesnt follow the same fateful mistake...
  24. and its my guess it was Colonel Mustard in the lounge with the candlestick!
