It's soooo much hotter here. Actually I didn't get my potatoes from Burpee as soon as I should have. They ship when THEY think it's time to plant. It's about 2-3 weeks too late IMO. I used to plant right around St. Pat's Day. I didn't get my order until the end of March and really, this year, I would have planted the first week of March. Russets and Yukon Gold

You're so sweet! But I'm really not. I ran across someone else's pic of a charc. board and googled how to make the roses like they had done. Super easy. If I can do it anyone can lol.

Those peppers are beautiful @FauxPas! Ours is really producing right now. Ronnie has a weird fixation on making sure every single squash goes to a good home sigh. Usually one or two of our plants dies from squash bugs but not this year. I can't tell you how many squash I've chucked into the field corn after he goes to bed 🤣. I managed to squeeze in canning a batch of tomatoes a couple days ago (our hunter friend was here so it was really busy). I need to can again today. This was this mornings haul. Dug the last of the potatoes and pulled the last onions. Sweet corn is ready but I just haven't had time to deal with it yet.

ME TOO I don't think we've ever had such a busy summer. I'm hoping these next few weeks will be very smooth and calm. I need a break lol. I can't remember what kind of fish this was--either bass or catfish Zoodles with venison meatballs SV'd turkey loin 4th of July was fried chicken, potato salad and cherry galette BLT's Big salad night Our hunter friend came to stay with us on Wednesday. He's worked his butt off--along with Ronnie-getting a lot of big projects done around here. So, a small board of appetizers the first night For dinner I made stuffed zucchini with some pasta--I used up a bunch of tomatoes and made a huge pot of spaghetti sauce Another board the next night And big salad night for dinner Venison cheese burger pizza the next night with broccoli salad Last night I SV'd some ribeyes --then the guys fired up the grill and grilled some zucchini and a big sweet onion and then seared the steaks. Really good. Deviled eggs and the first garden okra fried up. Chipped beef cheese ball to start with Our friend goes to the airport in a bit. Maybe I can sneak a nap???

I always get a rotisserie chicken if I'm at Dillons or Sam's. SO handy. I got one on Monday from Sam's actually. That night I just reheated it in the CSO. Sometime this week I'll make quesadillas or taco salads with the rest.

Your Daily Sweets: What Are You Making and Baking? (2017 – )

I've never thought about using peanut butter chips! Great idea! -
I've never tried corn but I don't see why it wouldn't! I'd maybe brush a bit of oil on ....but you might not even need to do that.

I couldn't take the heat...or the jet lag. But I'd love your wife's amazing knowledge about wine. And yours about the food. Again, I need to stay on the air conditioned plane lol.
-
Ok. You had me at the wine commentary. I suppose I'd be ready to use a bathroom other than the airplane one anyway. 🤣
-
I'm Doing It My Way So I don't have mess around with any pesky substitutions or requests. 😬
-
I'm thinking about taking the same flight and just staying on the plane. No need to see land. Just eat the airplane food.

Just a little reminder that quesadilla type things work well --if you don't mind cleaning up some cheese off the maker that is lol. It gets the tortillas nice and crisp without having to use oil and especially without having to flip them over.

Thanks for this, Kim. It looks delicious! I've made a note in my SV book.

I always read this thread but rarely post because 99% of the time my breakfasts are leftovers from the night before....or a cracker and a piece of cheese lol. But, this is my favorite breakfast when the garden tomatoes get good:

I already had enough cucumbers to start a crock of pickles a few days ago. I will have enough to start a second one in a day or two. I need an additional fridge in the garage sigh lol.

I haven't been very creative yet this year. Been using the mandolin and salting the strips and squeezing fresh lemon over. Did a huge grated up ziplock so I could make fritters--which we might be sick of by now lol. And this sour cream zucchini bread I've given tons away already. It's either feast or famine with us lol.

I very much enjoy seeing everyone's meals whether cooking for one or cooking for a crowd. I seem to be piling up pictures and not posting very frequently. Garden is really thriving which is good but also makes me need a large nap in the afternoons lol. I am definitely in a cooking rut. Nothing sounds good when it's hot. Now is when I envy those who can get food delivered. Big salad night. Bacon, shrimp and leftover smoked trout for meats The usual broccoli salad with zucchini fritters and roasted chicken quarters SV'd steaks and cheese broccoli and cauliflower SV'd goose legs Deli turkey sandwiches Ronnie went to Sam's for supplies--cases of water because we're going through it like mad--and picked up a rotisserie chicken. I reheated it in the CSO. Nice and easy and good. Cauliflower mashed potatoes to go with Using the leftover chicken I made enchiladas Another big salad night You'll be seeing more steaks in the future. Ribeyes in a bag (not cut up yet) were on sale so Ronnie picked up a couple. Steaks ended up being about $9 a piece and the meat is SO tender. Reason number 126 why I love my Vacmaster.

Nope. I admire the hell out of you. When life is a pitfall and you don't know when you'll quit falling, a good meal like you made is amazing. Looks delicious.

I'm so glad some of you got to eat there. I wish we had gotten to go. I wish him the best of luck in his next endeavor. I'm sure it will be another amazing adventure.
-
I just heard about this a month or so ago. I made a mental note to ask my farmers what they think about it but I haven't done it yet. It would be interesting to plant some.....
-
I didn't know they closed down. I've never eaten there.
-
It's been a while since I've made a burger with an egg on it. Need to rectify that.
-
I do NOT like that at all. It leaves a horrid aftertaste and...some sort of slime that makes me gag.

I seem to be all about easy the older I get lol. I use an Italian spice mix from Sam's and use the Italian breadcrumbs in the can from the store. Works and saves time.
