  1. No....just a regular metal barn. It got beat to hell, too sigh lol.
  2. Thank you Smithy! It'll be reallllly nice to have this all behind us. I'm going to be taking it really easy over the next few days. Because I can lol. Here's a link to Dale's --it's soy sauce based. A customer....or maybe a mill guy...turned us onto it a million years ago. Good stuff. Yeah...deviled eggs are a pain especially if you have to make a lot of them! Filling this time was Hellman's mayo, mustard and a good healthy dose of dry Ranch dressing mix.
  3. We worked on cutting up a ton of firewood both Friday and Saturday. I'm STILL sore from lifting and stacking. Anyway, Saturday I started early in the day and got a chipped beef cheese ball made for snacks. Then I stuffed the doves with jalapeños and onions, bacon wrapped them and marinated them in Dale's. Our guest is a deviled egg fanatic Creamed brussels sprouts And grilled doves So, that's a little tidbit from last week. Again, I hope to be much more on top of my game for next time
  4. Ooooof. Where to begin? As some of you know we had a major hail storm the beginning of September. Time has flown so fast it still feels like it just happened last week. We're slowly getting things fixed up and back to normal. Roof people can't even start until possibly next spring they are so backed up. Luckily I haven't found any leaks. Anyway, all of the sudden it was time for our hunter friend to be here 😮 **panic** lol. He arrived last Wednesday and left on Sunday--it was so hectic that I couldn't post anything in real time. Hoping that the December visit is muuuuuch calmer. So. Here's a bit of what we got up to: I managed to throw a quick chalkboard drawing together (thank you internet for the inspiration) and got some fall/Halloween decorations put up. Ronnie's granddaughter was selling mums for a school fundraiser so I bought some for the porch--our pumpkin patch got demolished so I didn't have any pumpkins (insert major crying face). I was shocked when Ronnie and our friend arrived from the airport and unloaded a ton of pumpkins that they bought for me! Now, if the cattle come to visit me this winter I'll have at least a little snack for them to enjoy. I really dropped the ball taking pictures a times- so I'll have to piece in here and there. The first night, since they had grabbed lunch not too long before, I put out just a few snacks. @HungryChris's marinated mushrooms were again a hit. I've been ordering from Nuts.com and loving some of their offerings--these spicy pickle pretzels are addictive. That night I IP'd ribs that Ronnie had smoked along with stuffed jalapeños and baked beans. Next morning they got up early to go dove hunting and work on the deer stands etc. Scout got to go and had a blast. A dove cleaning pictorial--as usual they saved all of the livers, gizzards and hearts, too. On the way home they stopped off in a mostly Amish community and bought some homegrown tomatoes--it pains me to type that lol. But we had none, again, due to the hail. They're better than store bought....but not near like ours. Another snack board Ronnie really wanted me to do pressure cooked chicken gizzards. That's a LOT of frying when there are three of us. But, I started at like 3 in the afternoon and got done around 4:30. I included the guts from the doves. Pressure cooked for 40 mins along with salad and gravy for dipping Next morning more doves were gotten. This time, I asked them to pluck them so I could freeze them and we'd have them roasted in the oven over the winter. I wrapped them in saran and then vac packed them
  5. Ohhhh I'm kind of kicking myself for not planting any this year. That looks so golden and sweet and delicious.
  6. You guys could've made a killing on us folks down here 🤣 .....probably still could 🤣

    Dinner 2025

It's been an odd weather summer. Lots of rain (not complaining). Garden hasn't done as well as in past years but we're getting enough tomatoes to eat every day so that's all that matters. It's been a high in the mid 70's the last few days. So strange for August in Kansas. @rotutsyour meatloaf looks delicious. I made some a few nights ago but forgot the bacon on top. I need to remember to do that next time. @Smithyhow I love Chile rellenos. I just don't love making them from scratch lol. Maybe I can talk Ronnie into stopping into TJ's next time we're in the area. Chicken and hatch Chile stuffed peppers with homemade salsa and a fig galette. Last of the homemade bread --BLT's, fries and shishitos. I need to make more bread. I know it looks like we've fallen off the low-carb wagon but I swear we haven't . I just seem to only take pictures of carby meals lol. The apple tree we've had forever that maybe produces one apple every 2 years decided to have a bumper crop. I picked these earlier this month and right now I have a huge basket full that I need to make pie filling out of. They aren't the prettiest apples but they are MINE lol. Pizza and salad Needed to use up some fish we had frozen before it gets burnt so a mix of fried walleye and catfish along with zoodles and stuffed jalapeños. SV'd pork chops, squash and greens With quite possibly the best dessert I've ever made (which might not be saying much because we all know that's not my forte lol). Maybe some of you saw the peanut butter and jelly popcorn I posted in the snacking section? Anyway I've had PB&J on my mind I guess. I had some delicious Thomcord grapes (my favorite grapes ever) that I got from Misfits. I decided to make a galette out of some of them and thought OMG what if I spread a bunch of peanut butter on the crust before I add the grapes??? SO GOOD. I was so looking forward to making another one but Misfits didn't ship my Thomcord grapes this week . I have them in my basket again for next week so maybe I'll get lucky.
  8. Well this looks awesome. It's been a while since I've been enabled 😳 I do not need this I do not need this. But I love soft serve.
  9. Yes Peel tomatoes and put into your pot. Add chopped jalapeños right away and let it all cook for a while. Season with salt. Can as you normally would. If you have leftover tomato juice it makes wonderful bloody Marys. Rotel uses green chilies....if I ever had any on hand at the same time as I'm making this I'd add some of those, too.
  10. I've been doing the same thing. Misfits has had Hatch chiles for several weeks now. I can't seem to stop buying and freezing them lol.
  11. I miss Anna, too. I think of her so often.
  12. Beautiful!

  15. I don't get out much
  16. Ronnie had to use the bathroom during a shopping trip at Sam's yesterday which left me alone for several delicious moments in the snacky area. I snagged this: SO GOOD. I doubt I'll ever run across it again.

@Duvel What a great meal! I want it all. Your wife's pasta dish looks delicious and I want to poke my fork in that deep fried egg. @weinooNice looking tomatoes. Turkey wraps with shishitos, tomatoes and fake potato salad One of Ronnie's daughters made tamales for the first time and brought some over for us to try. So, I made venison taco salads along with the tamales. The tamales were so good. Seasoned perfectly. I was impressed. Fried wings and chicken strips (I have started frying up some strips to use a few days later for big salad night) with salad and squash casserole--I used crushed up pork rinds in place of crackers for the topping. Zucchini pizza boats and SALAD lol Big salad night--I used leftover steak and the chicken strips Last night we splurged again and had BLT's. Heavenly.
  20. Thank you so much @FauxPas but I will live vicariously through you guys for now. I can't wait to hear all about them!
  21. I can't sleep. I can't eat. No more CSO's. I'm just spinning out of control. lol. kinda.
  22. OMG I missed this until now. I love Peeps. And wine. This must be a sign.
  23. I'm jealous of all of you and your berries! We've gotten SO much rain this summer. Our property has been in the monsoon sweet spot. From April until now we've gotten roughly 30" of rain. That's a lot for us. Rain gauge from July 24th am to July 25th am--almost 6 inches. \\ The lake in the background is the garden. Getting enough tomatoes to eat every day plus a ton of cherry tomatoes that I'm drying and keeping in olive oil. Dunno about any canning this year....the plants are stunted and even the green tomatoes are splitting. Plus side is we've barely had to run the irrigation which saves a ton on fuel. The river flooded a bit a few weeks ago but I don't think it did much damage to the corn. We'll see how August and September go. It's hot as hell --humidity is through the roof as you can imagine. We are under heat warnings most every day lately. Cucumbers are doing well. Peppers are super stunted. Maybe by December I'll get some jalapeños 🙄. Harvested all of the onions. Several had rotted due to the rain but I still have a nice stash in the fridge outside. Tons of watermelons on but I'll be shocked if they have any flavor. Too much rain makes them...well, too watery. Green beans are just now coming on. Anyway, just a little garden update from over here.
  24. NOOOOOOO!!!!! I'm so sorry!!!!! Very very stupid question and I'm sure it's not the case but your reset button on the outlet doesn't need to be reset does it? I assume you tried that or a different plug in. And, I'll add, that when mine does that screeching sound I have banged the hell out of the top of it and then restarted --sometimes that helped. Sometimes it didn't but I got out some aggression.

    Dinner 2025

Thank you!!! I want another one tonight so bad. It doesn't help that I have most of the loaf of bread left that I made lol. It's easy--I just do my regular potato salad recipe only sub cauliflower. If I have a head of cauliflower I break it up into bite size pieces--mostly the tops but some of the softer looking stems and then I throw it in the IP. 1 cup of water, keep the cauliflower out of the water using what ever you use in the IP. 0 mins on high. If I have a microwavable bag, I poke holes in the bag, micro for 3 mins and then let it sit for a while. You want the cauliflower tender--but not mushy. I don't measure. Hellman's mayo --or what you like. Not Miracle whip imo makes it too sweet Mustard Diced onion, pickles and celery 2 chopped up hard boiled eggs Fresh dill (I like to add a lot) Secret ingredient is some dry Ranch dressing mix Salt/pepper to taste Mix that all up, add the cauliflower. Good stuff
