It's actually a few roasted banana peppers from the garden.

Since it's been so freaking hot here, I've become obsessed with soda water over ice and a twist (or 6) of lime. I go through at least 12 bottles of water a week--I could drink more than that, actually. But, do I want another thing on my counter?? I dunno.

A Pringles vending machine??????? Be still my beating heart! Must Find One My husband would adore potatoes with a side of potatoes. And that butter...no tea for me, but I'll take a bowl of butter and a spoon please.

I wonder if I have very strange pets, or if this happens to anyone else.... My lab and my Brittany have begun to pick the just beginning to get ripe fruits and veggies from my garden. They actually sniff out the tomatoes that have a beginning tinge of redness. Cucumbers? Yep. Watermelon? Yep. They bring them all to me....slightly poked with tooth holes.... sigh. So, the other evening, here comes Roxy--the Brit--rolling a football sized black diamond watermelon to us. Not even close to being ripe. My husband was SO mad. Anyway, I brought it inside, hacked off the outer layer and had an idea. Fried green watermelon! I don't know if it's been done before...probably has, but it was a first for me. It's really good. No need to add any sugar to it because it's got a touch of sweetness. I added a lot of chili pepper to my breading mix and we dipped in ranch dressing. Along with that, my husband smoked the cutest little pork roast. Very juicy and tender. Also had beer brats a while back

The jam and cheese rolls are all I can think about right now. Those look delicious! I love the cobweb--perfect for upcoming Halloween

We eat a lot of salads.....a lot of Mexican food with the peppers. As you've all heard me complain, I'm still living on the sun. Looked up the long term forecast just now. 100-112 degrees for the next 2 weeks. After that, I don't know. So, we're watering the crap out of the tomatoes. Some have set on and finally formed fruit, but not like they should be. Sigh.

I realized I sounded forceful there....lol. It's none of my business...but I sure wish that you could go.

I wish I could help, and I hope they all have a great time, but I need to know why the heck YOU aren't going????

Kim!! I cannot wait to read this whole write-up. OMG that marzipan fruit is amazing. I've never seen anything like that. LOVE the "foods of America" isle. I am cracking up over it, actually. What are the cowboy items on the bottom shelf?

If I had a choice to have dinner with any? JERSEY by far. They kick ass in the eating dept.

Ditto for the temps. It's been 115 heat index with 104 real temp here for longer than I can remember. Like I said in another thread, I'm living on the sun. And, I never would have said before that I have lost appetite, but I have now. All I want is ice water, cold cold salad, ice water, sweet ice cold wine, ice water, and a cold cold Italian sandwich with fresh 'maters from the garden. OH and the pie that I mentioned down in the dinner section. That is totally yummy.
-
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Never, ever, never ever!!!! NO. Have I made myself clear? It won't hurt your 'maters to sit on the counter one bit. But, for the love of God, do not put them in that cold, dark place that sucks the taste out of them.

Everything looks great. I haven't made monkey bread for years....sounds sooooo good. I want to make some NOW!

O M G I totally get what you're saying about the potluck. We used to do that at my job...for every holiday. St. Patty's, Easter etc. Pretty quick I realized there were the dedicated few that made something decent, and the others ran to the store mid-morning and came back with a container of potato salad. AND, they never helped clean up afterwards.
