You know, I don't think scrapple can be found around here--or maybe I don't frequent the right places. Pork belly=yes. Scrapple=no. I'd love to try some. Looks like something I would devour. I'm hoping for a really great time for them, too. Yes, Chum is beside herself. She knows he's coming (truly I swear she does) and she knows what that means. Lots of quality time with the guys . And you are spot on about the cats. They also know something is going to happen--too much cleaning going on lol. However, they have been very busy on the mouse front most nights so maybe they will be too tired to care much lol. The upside is they are gone for much of the day so it doesn't interrupt the cats' very important daily routine much.

I think what ever that is in season is on the kill list . So, yes. Deer, pheasants, geese, ducks......we are in the same boat as you, though, on the geese and ducks. There just simply aren't any around this year.

Thank you so much for this information. I need all of you EG people in my phone so I can have access immediately to you for questions So now I have Red Boat and a bottle of pungent fish paste. Lucky me LOL. The isle that is marked "fish sauce" in the market is seriously long. I bet there were 100 different kinds/brands. So, I picked the one that said "GOOD" on the label. Sigh. Exactly.

Oh I do have some of that now that you say it!!!! I bought some after @rotuts said it was excellent on steaks and then I promptly forgot about it. Sigh.

Happy Deer Season Eve! Good afternoon from the cloudy, blustery state of Kansas where the highs this week will be in the mid to upper 50's and lows will be in the lower 30's. Thank goodness it's not going to be too hot. I don't like hanging deer in a hot garage...I'm weird like that. I've gotten all of my Christmas decorations up and as we speak, my cleaning angel is here. I need to wash the lights over the stove in the kitchen, but somehow my mind keeps telling me that I don't need to do that. I'd rather putz around the kitchen this afternoon. Our hunter will be here tomorrow morning, which is also the first day of the season. I think the plan is to go directly out to the field from the airport. As usual, they will have the camera. Anyway, we ventured into the big city yesterday to stock up for this week. We went to the grocery store and also the Asian Market. Then I spent the afternoon putting things away and cleaning out the fridge. Nothing too exciting from the grocery store. Ronnie was deeply disturbed because the eggs were over $2 a dozen lol. My wonderful egg person's chickens have taken a hiatus and aren't laying right now. I should have gotten the ginger at the Asian Market--it was far cheaper there. And, I think this is like only the second time in my life that I've bought skinless, boneless chicken breasts. I am planning on making a dish this week that uses chicken breasts and I just didn't feel like thawing out the whole birds and cutting them up. OR I might sub in pheasant for the chicken...... \ And yes, I adore brown gravy made from the packets. Turn away, true chefs, and don't look lol. Much more exciting stuff from the Asian market--I plan on an Asian food fest one of the nights this week. Needed some sesame oil and some fish sauce. I forgot to look up what brand of fish sauce to buy....so we will see if this is any good. I mean, hey, the label actually says "good" so what could go wrong? And the star of the show: pork belly I've planned a bit, but nothing is set in stone so we will see what we get up to this week.

I wonder if frozen cheese would make a difference? -
Oh good! It didn't occur to me that if you moved the shelf it might just fit.

I hope none of the squirrels were suicidal!

I did the decalcification last night before steam baking my turkey breast. It was very easy to do. Just took some time. Don't forget to empty the water tray sometime during the process. I did the turkey for about an hour and a half and I didn't get any beeps telling me my full tank was empty so I think it was a success. I bought the 10.25". Thank you BD!

WOOOO HOOOOO!!!!!! Did you get to play with it last night?

So, I was in the middle of baking bread in the CSO when Ronnie came in and opened the door to the oven. ARRRRGH I don't know if it was a coincidence or not, but after he shut the door the CSO started beeping with a message that the water was empty. It wasn't. It was almost clear full. It continued doing that all along the rest of the baking process. The bread got done internally, but the top didn't get browned like normal. Anyway. After I sent Ronnie to bed with no dinner (kidding), I googled to see what was going on and came up with these instructions on decalcifying the machine (I still don't know if that's what is wrong, but it couldn't hurt) . I'm getting ready to do a turkey breast and didn't want the same thing happening so I'm being proactive. Just thought others might need these instructions some day. By the way, I only use water that has been run through my Brita pitcher.

I am exactly the same way about turkey broth---and sometimes chicken broth. I am NEEDING deviled eggs. Will have to make them for our small turkey dinner we are having on Sunday. I didn't take any leftovers and I need a turkey sandwich....thus, our own little turkey day. I am starving and this looks so good. The tomatoes even look good. Even with the peels on......

We're waiting for more wheat to grow due to the flour shortage you guys have caused. -
I bought two of those this morning for Ronnie's daughters. I am pretty sure the younger one will find it useful...the older one will probably sell it lol but we will see.

That looks wonderful, Smithy. I am now craving prime rib.
