On a related (sort of) topic: Geese Killing I'm not a huge fan of these birds. My kids play soccer and the fields in every town we play in are covered with geese shit. I think the Colts Neck method was drastic, however. Just my opinion.

Reading the posts from last year regarding this topic makes me realize what a negative impact our rainy/shitty early summer has had on our crops. Corn is no where near where it should be growth wise, and tomatoes are non-existent. Hopefully the hot spell we've had here in NJ will help out the crops.

NJO reported today the following story We Want Wine! They note that New Jersey routinely ranks among the top five in consumption and production, and state residents buy about 10 million bottles of wine each year. I can say with certainty that I am a state resident that gladly is part of that data!

Hostess Snowballs have a flat bottom, don't know too many snowmen who would want that!!
-
Pink tits? No nipples. Wish I could find a picture - but alas, none on the Hostess or Home Town website. I think they came in white too. Also disgusting.
-
Hostess loses points just by virtue of the fact that they made Snowballs. Disgusting pink objects that I couldn't get any kid at my lunch table to trade desserts with. They were definitely not Ring Ding, Yodel or Devil Dog barter material.

Here's a link of Farmers Markets: Farmers Markets There is a New Jersey Tailgate Market located at the Cheesequake reststop Exit 124 on the Parkway. I haven't been there for a year or two but the last time I was there, there were quite a few stands.

I must be living a different life than everyone else. Breakfast is a non-event for me. I'm up at 5:15 - out of the house by 6:10. At my desk by 7:40. All I can think of at that point is coffee. We have a Filter Fresh Machine in our kitchen, and it makes pretty decent coffee. Two cups later (at about 8:30) I pumped and ready to torture my staff. I'm Head of Compliance at an Investment Advisory Firm - I make grown men cry. Maybe a banana before lunch. Depends on how much shit went down the day before.

I cook bacon in the microwave occasionally too, and have found that VIVA towels are the most absorbent. Bounty just lets the grease lie there as the bacon is nuking - pretty gross. 2 sheets of paper towel on the plate, but bacon on pt, and add a sheet over bacon and nuke. My kids like it crispy, so I generally nuke about 45 secs per slice of bacon. Comes out grease free!

Well, not really the answer you are looking for, but... Point Pleasant Beach also has a Seafood Festival the 3rd or so Saturday in September. Unfortunately, it is just as crowded, if not more so, as the Belmar one. I try to get there early - even before lunchtime. The crowds are not too large, and you may be able to grab a table for lunch at the ones set up on the side streets off Arnold Avenue. From 2:00 or so on, it's crazy.

I made this from the eG Recipes site and it was a huge hit (Thanks =Mark ) =Mark's Baked Brie I dunno - I just can't bring myself to eat deviled eggs - guess I'm missing out.

Drakes for the discerning palate! Every now and then my big brother- transplanted from Brooklyn to Eugene, OR, calls me to send out a care package of Devil Dogs to him. My kids crack up at the thought of their 50+ year old uncle begging for Devil Dogs!

Yum - that one sounds right up my alley! Thanks to all for the suggestions - if I'm coherent on Friday I'll let you know what the choices were. There will probably be about 8 of us and we will be hitting the bar first. It's gonna be a long night. The hubby is on soccer and homework duty tonight!

I'm out at Tao on Thursday, 6/5 on a company tab. It will be a fun dinner with some ex employees and we'll talk about people still in our employ. Any dinner suggestions?

My husband and I recently had a possum problem in our yard. Seems the pesky possum had a taste for the fish in our pond. Ate four in as many days. We set out a humane trap loaded with tuna fish. Caught pesky possum and brought him to the woods near our local senior citizen center. Now, if we had lemon flavored tuna fish, we would have had a puckered pesky possum!

22X17. A really nicely sized kitchen. We bought the house new, but already prebuilt, with no room for reconfiguring the kitchen layout. I would have (if I were doing it from scratch) taken the space and layed it out differently. I have an "L" shaped counter, with three stools on one side which work well, but the cabinet/stove/frig layout was not given any thought. I would love to rip them out and do over, but I can't justify doing that to an 9 year old kitchen. I do have a nice eating area large enough for a table for 8. I also like that I have a section with two computer desks, so both kids can do their homework/surf the internet while not being closeted away in their bedrooms.

A friend is a marketer for Tomasello Tomasello he's given us samples from the winery. According to him, their dessert wines are their top sellers. I just couldn't bring myself to try them once I opened the bottles and took a whif Have tried their Chards and Pinot Grigio - just ok. He is active at the wine tasting events. Says they are lots of fun.

If you are by chance looking for a finer dining experience, try the White Barn Inn on Beach. The other places that Holly recommended are also right on spot for "locals" type of places. You can also google Kennebunkport and come up with a few Chamber of Commerce type of websites that might suit your needs. I haven't been back to Kennebunkport in many years. When I was in late teens/early twenties, my friend and I would housekeep at the Fransiscan Monastary in exchange for room and board. Friend's brother went to school there and we would all go up for long weekends with lots of people. They have a fresh water in ground swimming pool on the property. I do believe that the monks did lots of praying for us - we were very bad - and had lots of fun.

Maybe the restaurant is still there, but reincarnated under another name. I don't seem to recall a Char-Broil anywhere on the Boardwalk. Do you remember where it was located? Some of the counter type places serve OK burgers - and there's the upstairs place across from Martells that serves too. You can also grab a burger in Jenks. Aside from that, not really too many places on the boardwalk like that.

WHAT??!! No one has mentioned Cotton Candy. The stuff they sell now on the Boardwalk in Point Pleasant Beach, already pre bagged, just isn't the same as the fresh spun. I remember seeing the paper cone swipe around the tub collecting wisps of cotton. You would wish that the counter person would keep going, not stopping until top was so heavy it would lean to one side. Wisps would fly out of the tub and you could grab them before they flew off to the beach. Ah - summer.

I've had a buffet lunch there on a Sunday before attending a Broadway show. It can be confusing when you get up to fill your plate, then try to find your table again. The waitstaff is used to this and somehow can guide patrons back to their correct tables.
