My kids, who like peanut butter, have said "EEEWWWWWW" at this one. Do you squeeze it on bread and then spread it around? Squeeze a dollop on a cracker? Do kids throw the tube in their lunch box and squeeze out at lunch? Yuck.

Do you plan on an exercise program? I would love to lose weight w/o sweating. I'm trying to cut out breads, rice and pasta. Like I've said, just want to lose about 10 lbs. Can't just seem to w/o cutting out the wine a dinner. Damn. Have a treadmill that I hang my clothes on. My hubby uses it and throws my clothes on the floor. Good luck to you Varmint!

Live in NJ - work in NYC. Can easily drop a couple hundred on footwear in one fell swoop. Life is good. Do I hear a shopping expedition starting? Count me in!!!

How true!!! I know this is a food website, but I'd rather have gorgeous pair of shoes than a one time meal. Can wear the shoes until they have holes in the bottom, have the meal just once!

Good luck to you Varmint!! Although I have just about 10 lbs that I would like to lose, I just can't seem to shake it off. Tried cutting out the carbs, but I know in my heart of hearts that wine is the culprit. Just can't give up a glass (or two) at dinner. All that sugar in the alcohol is collecting in my thighs. Damn Kendall Jackson! I was in much better shape when my kids (and I) were younger. Carrying my now 12 year old daugher around for the first 5 years of her life gave my upper arms some definition. I've got the flabby arm syndrome now. Sigh. I will live vicariously through you.

$3,000 each? Hey, who's your boss, Donald Trump? Not each - $3,000 total. Not Trump - but pretty much in the same league. Every now and then I get to go out to client dinners. Our staff meetings usually consist of pizza and beer in the office. Don't need to impress us - we just work there.

Business dinner at Daniel, my boss (the owner) hosting. Party of 5 with LOTS of wine - $3,000 I still dream about it. On my own, with my husband, GreyCliff in Nassau, Bahamas. $600 for the two of us.

Thanks for those kind words - to all. Our family is doing OK with the loss - but we miss him. Humor is a great reliever and we use it freely. Giving the "who would you have dinner with" some more thought... Some of my high school girlfriends. It's been almost 30 years and we have lost touch. I'd like to find out what became of them. Being freed from the confines of all-girl Catholic school can do mighty strange things.

My Dad. When I was little he would tell my Mom to "just leave me be" when she wanted me to clean my plate. I was sooo skinny and she wanted to fatten me up. He thought I was just fine. It's only been 4 months since he's gone. I would give anything to be able to sit down to dinner with him again. He lived in Florida for the past 15 years. We would have to go to early bird specials when visiting - and he would only go to restaurants that had cloth napkins. Jeez, I miss him.

oh my god, i totally forgot about this place. is this the place that was in a big old farmhouse of sorts?? Tommy, I never thought of describing it as a farmhouse, though that might be a good way to describe it. So, yes, that's the one. Did you ever eat there? You're talking 'bout my hood!!! Clare & Coby's was definitely not a farmhouse sort of building. Outback left the original building facade intact, but redid the interior to conform to a standard Outback lookalike. Directly across the other side of Rte 9 from Outback is Laura's Pancake House. Owners tried to sell a few years ago at the time that the new Loews and Ruby Tuesday were going in. Guess they didn't get their price, because they are still there. I used to go there on my kid's first day of school with the other celebrating Moms. It's been a few years since I've been there last. I think, though, that they are still pretty much the same. Blah breakfast food.

not to be a downer, but are you sure they do? i grew up near there, and it was always my impression that the stories of "right off-the-boat fresh" were greatly exaggerated. I've seen it with my very own baby blues. Right off the boat, I tell ya.

Red's Lobster Pot in PPB gets 0 points for decor, but 10 points for food. You can't get fresher than they do, the fishing boats deliver directly to them from the Manasquan Inlet. I often go in the late mornings to take out fresh deliveries, and we grill later on that evening at home. One of the best local places in PPB, and they are still open after Labor Day. Can't ask for more than that!

Windows by the Sea is actually Windows on the Water in PPB. It was previously inhabited by Heatwave, but since they have moved into their new space in Bayhead, Spano's is now taking over, offering "steak and italian" (that's what the sign says). While it is not waterfront, they do have views from the restaurant windows since they are located on Ocean Avenue, facing the ocean. Rockafellas in PPB faces the Manasquan inlet and is OK. It occupies the old Kelley's restaurant. Views from the second floor, but it gets noisy.

aka "Chacun a son gout." "Everyone has (a ) his taste". My son is taking first year Chinese - I'll ask him to translate for me!

rozrapp - we recently visited Empire Szechuan and both my husband and I though it was awful in every respect. To each his own I guess.

A nice "sit-down" Chinese is in Marlboro. Crown Palace on 79. Also, on Rt 9 S in Manalapan. Hunan Gourmet. Welcome to the neighborhood!

Craved: Spanish Olives - ate enough during 2 pregnancies to keep the industry going for the next decade. Aversion: Only 2nd pregnancy - chicken - cooked any way. The smell and sight would make me gag. Otherwise, the food would have to be moving in order for me not to eat it!

Although I live only 15 mins or so away from Restaurant Nicholas, I've only dined there on Saturday evenings (loved all 3 occasions!) I am beat on Friday night. After commuting home from NYC for the fifth night in a row, I can't imagine doing fine dining. Take out pizza/italian and then collapse to get ready for the weekend! (taxi service for 2 kids in sports, food shopping, etc.). Maybe some who can't get a Saturday reservation would opt for the Friday. I would rather wait for my Saturday. But that's just me.

TRUE! Harvard Medical School should do (if they haven't already) some kind of study on that phenom. Red wine for me - more so that usual. -
howard88 - here is the wegmans link wegmans they are usually very good about responding to email requests. Their inventory is demographic, some stores might carry what you are looking for; some may not.

We had some lobster wrapped in rice rolls with wasabi this evening purchased at the Manalapan Wegmans. It was delicious and cleared out my sinuses.

David, I would be pissed about that too. It's like when you are sitting next to someone on an airplane and they are bragging about how they just booked their ticket yesterday and are paying half the fare that you are! It's just unfair, but businesses seem to practice that type of procedure.

OK - my teenage kids have already told us they will be out that evening so my husbnad and I can be "alone" (don't know what they think we will actually do!! ). I've had a thought: Set up a small bistro table in my den where there's a fireplace. Drape lovely tablecloth and set up candles. Have my husband (who is home being Mr. Mom) go to Wegman's earlier in the day and pick up something precooked and lovely. A bottle of Cakebread or Turley (depending on the entree selection) and we are set! Hopefully the kids will find a friends house to sleep over that night!!
