  1. I think Eater did a good summary today https://www.eater.com/2020/3/12/21177140/dining-out-at-restaurants-during-coronavirus-covid-19-explainer
  2. I don't get it either. Gin maybe being herbaceous

    Breakfast 2020!

Me too. My mom always ate dinner leftovers for breakfast. The only downside to your lovely posts is that non breakfast eaters may be missing out on some wonderful food pics!
  5. Only 6:30am but no sleep so the nice broccoli is headed to become a lightly curried coconut soup - buzzed with immersion blender. Should the sun ever cone up and the fog go away I'll toss in lemon verbena from garden. Better when it sits for a while.
  6. Odd synchronicity. David posted pink grapefruit marmalade a bit ago. I reached into the bag of citrus gifted from the desert to make nuoc cham - and who shows up. If I ever get to sleep this may be on deck https://www.davidlebovitz.com/pink-ruby-grapefruit-marmalade-recipe/#more-45609 (and yes scuzziest cutting board ever)

    Lunch 2020

I love the author and his writing about fast food https://www.seriouseats.com/2020/02/what-is-fast-food.html
  8. @Anna N reminded me of a character in a Marlena de Blasi novel recounting food .shortages in Italy during WW2. He was so so hungry. His mother had him close his eyes and as she fed him the last slice of bread she vividly described the cheese on the bread (which was imaginary). The only starch left was ground dried chesnuts. When spring sprung there were wild greens but winter was bleak. They made it
  9. I have food, I have wild greens outside - so all good. The allergy thing though. My opening line "I have allergies - I am not sick"
  10. I have not personally seen milk as a staple since I was a child and my own (now 28 year old) does not either. Cheese, yogurt and the like are nice to have but no panic about milk - I can cross that off the list. Maybe too much of the "blue stuff" as a kid. (non-fat)

    Breakfast 2020!

Oh that also but I adore them so a tiny burp is worth it, GPs not so much and more virulent. Plus Persian and Japanese ones (cukes) not an issue.

    Breakfast 2020!

Just reading the words makes me burp. Not the taste or the smell but the result.
  13. Thank you for sharing your adventure - the food and the chocolate. My head is calling this the Klimt series

This is the link I wanted to post and used wrong search words for. It is quite a story - toast and salvation and connection. https://psmag.com/social-justice/toast-story-latest-artisanal-food-craze-72676

    Dinner 2020

A dinner party to be envied. My mother would have swooned over the chandelier. Al hers were the crystals - had to hand polish each bit... So the walnut pate grabbed me. Can you elaborate?

  21. Further to that Kenji did a short piece at the beginning of this hilarious interview with Claudia Fleming https://soundcloud.com/user-306003081/special-sauce-kenji-on-5 The question was about a plant based product that would be more like shredded pork or chicken. He mentioned jackfruit which is the darling of vegan cooks around my parts but also Butler's soy curls. https://butlerfoods.com/orderonline.html?gclid=Cj0KCQiAwP3yBRCkARIsAABGiPqW3ZcIT2KRYwDllXfgErekNX5-OEfy4RiY5qDryHCPaRaqFsHenDkaAv1nEALw_wcB

    Dinner 2020

Oh I miss my Waterford. Too many tipsy clumsy people over time. Takes an unfortunate talent to break them.... I even gave sister a glass at first pregnancy to remind her to hydrate.

    Breakfast 2020!

Looks like a nice start to the day. I have to say I knew something about the table was a statement but it flew over my head. Now I see wings & the beautiful Plymouth Rock hen piece.- well done.

    New Kitchen

@TicTac I understand contractor mess Spent years hand holding researchers freaking as the guys remodeled their active labs. (chocolate seemed to work also) I find that opening your mind to out of box ideas can surprise. When I did not have many outlets in another house I'd do the corned beef in the garage or the rice on the kitchen patio.
