Homemade Marshmallows: Recipes & Tips (Part 2)
hummingbirdkiss replied to a topic in Pastry & Baking
if it were me I would use 1 and 1/2 the amt but I am not sure how sticky yours were ..from what it sounds like ..this could not hurt! so you have firmer marshmallows they are good that way I think ! -
make a chocolate rolled cookie dough ...roll it out and then use a mini cupcake pan to make chocolate cookie cups ..make them bitter sweet and you can even just put a berry in them and they are nice.... these are good with anything inside! I have filled them with brownie batter ...wow!!!! I would put the brulee in one just to see if it worked ..sounds really good to me!

AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH I can not believe I am seeing this ..when my kids were little we baked a cake...cooked a chicken and a bunch of other things in one of these (very cheap entertainment I tell you!) ..how funny ..I think I got the plans from Mother Earth News!!! My plans were a less complicated shape and I used foil inside it to direct the heat ... it was fun and it worked perfectly for very little money even here in the PNW we could get decent results if you want to try it this is worth the effort ..how funny to see it again ...

try increasing the amt of the fish gel just a bit I bet that would work -
great! I feel better I do have a good grow light although I dont know that the bulb is as you described so I will go ask the guy who sold it to me to make sure I have the correct one when I take them in ... thanks so much for the info you guys I will try it and am happy to hear I can winter them inside (I wish I had a green house) ...It would have gotten some peppers this year..but I am sure it is too late because there is not even a bloom ..the plant is still growing... ..I am sure someone here knows this pepper.. I am a total pepper freak but this is a new one for me and the plant even is differant from all the other peppers I have ever grown ... kind of exciting! my curry plant is blooming now and my yard smells sooooo good!!!! the bright yellow flowers are pretty ..I love taking them to work in a bunch with other types of flowers and having people wonder where the food is I have my first fig just hours from ready to eat and can not wait!!! the tree is loaded with fruit ... I love to wander around looking at folks gardens now ..so many flowers!!! I have cardoon plants they are HUGE with giant blooms how funny they are it looks like a Dr Seus plant ...does anyone grow those ..I have not actually eaten the cardoon ..but will next spring ..I hear it tastes like artichoke?

Korean markets have the absolute finest mesh strainers for the lowest price I have seen anywhere I bought a heavy duty one that I can smack on the counter to clean junk off and toss in the dishwasher ...for like $4 ...

no I dont have The French Laundry cookbook am I out of the club? I like that idea of gingered bass thanks so much or the saffron vanilla .. or some one time and some the other there is enough for two meals here!

I love to eat fish and seafood before anything else in life..so a friend of mine at work knowing this ...was so sweet and gave me some of her boyfriends freshly caught bass .. I love whole fish and am used to dealing with that ....there is just something so fun about having a whole fish ...large...medium or small...on a plate! but I digress...I have these nice fat bass filets and would like to try something fun with them...... I am all about spicy foods that hit all the tastebuds so if you have some ideas for me I would be thrilled to try? thanks so much!

I use about 1/3 cup sugar (this is to the tart side) ..more or less depending on your taste for sweetness... to one quart brandy or rum for fruits and berries... I also will add a vanilla bean split sometimes and I agree use a good quality brandy the one you like the taste of alone best ..even take a berry and eat it with a sip of the brandy ...not just for fun but you can get an idea if you got the right mix going on! be ever so gentle with the berries I have made a simple syrup poured it hot over a jar of berries..let it cool then added brandy when it cooled ... that worked very well and the color was great!

No Anne but thanks! they are shaped more like a 2 inch red jalepeno (but the flavor is not at all like one) it tastes (to me) medium hot but nothing like a Scotch bonnet (I have an asbestos mouth and can eat any pepper) ... ..but since I only got them dry I am not sure and just guessing at what they would have looked like plumped up...I wish I had taken a pic but I opened them and saved the seeds right away so they are a mess now I love peppers and usually can pin them and have spent years in the Caribbean and Panama but only one day in the Bahamas in my life so if this is really a "Bahamian pepper" I have no idea what that means! I just dont know about this one and I can not get hold of her to ask her more ....she just gave them dried and moved! so any help or ideas ...send me lots of fruitful enerty I have no flowers even yet on it but I have three growing really well they have nice sized pretty big leaves for pepper plants .. I could post a pic of the plant but with out the peppers on it I am not sure if it would matter?

I am not an expert as you can tell from that thread! but I agree with CanadianBakin just add more flour and see what happens ..I may be wrong but I think it is looking good just needs more flour! btw your pictures make me long for New Mexico ..I usually spend at least the second half September there ...this year everyone is coming to me ...I am happy to have them all here ...but I am going to miss the chile harvest/roasting hiking on the mesa's .the smells and sights... those berries look exactly like the ones I used to use... I have also used them in sauces btw so next time you go gathering take some home and dry them ..they are awesome with poultry!

?????!!?! That sounds great! Where can you get that? ← it is great they give you a big bowl of pho with a duck leg in it ..cilantro and egg noodles instead of the rice noodles ... (now I need to make a White Center run!) I believe this is the address.. it is right on the main drag of White Center (there are two pho joints in the same area so check the menus to make sure they have the duck) I know a Seattle chef who sneaks in there periodically for just such a bowl ! personally I can not resist it ...just down the street is the Salvadoran bakery as well so stop there for pastries coffee or bread enjoy and good luck at school!!! this is south of SSCC Pho White Center 9642 16th Ave SW Seattle, WA 98106

my opinion...you obviously did not feel happy with it and the amt of money you paid did not seem to meet with your expectations of the food ... so it does not matter to some folks there was grit the oysters (and in a fine restaurant I would not be happy with that either!) or gray stuff on the salmon ..you do not seem happy with the dinner..and in my mind that is the bottom line! it went before your eyes as unappealing and into your mouth as unappealing... then to your tummy ...all of this sounds very unsatisfactory ...so to me that is probably not a good meal for sure!!! no other opinion should matter but your own!

go have a huge bowl of duck pho in White Center
