Don't forget Margie's ice cream on Washington Ave in Bergenfield. I agree that Louie G's in Teaneck on Teaneck Rd. is good too.
-
I have some friends who have been there several times and love it. We tried to get in once last summer but there was such a long wait, we said forget it. My husband won't wait more that 20 minutes no matter how good the place is!

I don't think Jerry's has a butcher shop. I have not been to Fairway in a while, but it used to be excellent. I purchase my turkey at Thanksgiving from a small butcher shop in New Milford. It is on the corner of The Blvd. and I don't remember the other street, but it is in the little strip mall with Big Jim's Pizza. Across the street from the 7-11.

Saddle River Inn I guess it is in Saddle River.

I too, wondered how many people participated in this poll. Personally, I think that Jerrys in Englewood makes GREAT sandwiches! But, it is not a "sub shop".

RailPaul, Is it the Whistle Stop Cafe, or the Narrowsburg Inn? Whenever we are invited up for a weekend we go out to lovely restaurants in the area. Been to Settlers Inn in Hawley PA. The Elkridge Preserve, Beach Lake Inn, and others I cannot remember.

Went to a friend's birthday party in Narrowsburg, NY. Had a great time. Stayed over at a nearby B&B. So we would not have to drive home late at night.
-
Thanks for all the info. We will definitely try it in the near future.

Has anyone been here? It is on Cedar Lane in Teaneck near the town hall. I think it has been there for a long time, but I've never gotten there.

Hubby likes steak and potatoes. He's not into trying new foods. We have been to the Backstreet Cafe in Westwood. It was very good. We also have been to a party that they catered. There is a pubby place that we went to a while ago (finnegan's sounds familiar) that was OK. And if you have a dog that needs grooming, Westwood Pets does a great job. Of course I'm prejudiced, my son, Patrick is the groomer!

The Mason Jar just off of Rt. 17 in Mahwah has a great brunch. I heard that Il Lemoncello (sp?) in fort Lee has a good one also. We often go to Moon in Westwood for breakfast on Sundays. Not a buffet brunch, but very good food.

We went to La Cambusa, in Fairlawn on Tuesday night. It is a very small restaurant on Maple Ave. The food was good. It seems to have a lot of regulars, you can linger over your drinks or coffee as long as you want, no one rushes you. They have a very large wine list. I had pork medalions with porcini mushrooms in a sherry sauce. It was very good. My daughter and son both had the lobster ravioli in vodka sauce, and they raved about it. My husband had the filet mignon in a port wine sauce and said it was good but he's had better. Nice atmosphere, we will probably try it again.

Sorry about Fink's. I've only had their ribs, and they were good. Mulino's is in Dumont and it is very good. Owned by Cafe Italiano people in Englewood Cliffs. Re: Roadhouse in Cresskill, never really liked it. I'd Rate it the same as Sanducci's. Crowded, lots of noise, and lots of kids. But we do like Ciao Bella in Cresskill. And Andiamo's in Haworth.

Silver Palate is where my recipe comes from.

In Westwood, try Backstreet Cafe. They also do catering. Very good! Also in River Edge, for take out. Try Fink's Funky Chicken. Find their menu's here. http://www.finksfunky.net

Well, the wedding at Mayfair Farms was a lot of fun. The food was just OK, not great. The cocktail hour was good their pineapple glazed chicken was very good, but the rest was just ok. The Sea Bass for dinner was overcooked. But, I did like the skewered vegetables and the mushroom soup. And no Sambuca at the cordial table during dessert, BooHoo. We had a great time at the wedding though, dancing and just talking to lots of old friends.

Hubby's birthday was a few weeks ago, so tonight is his pick, and it is Steve's Steakhouse on Rt. 17. Tomorrow, we have a wedding. I think it is at the Mayfair Farms, I have never been there so I have no idea where it is or how it is.

I just received a gift certificate for La Cambusa in Fairlawn from someone I did a favor for. I was wondering if anyone has been there and how the food was? We will probably try it in a few weeks. I will let you know what we think of it.

In Dumont, NJ, there's Uncle Frank's, a great pizzaria with a side dining room. I love their seafood salad. Then there's Italian Connection. Molinos, just down the st. from Uncle Frank's is very good. Then our favorite is Andiamo's in Haworth, good for a full meal or just a pizza. Another quickie place is Hannah's in New Milford.

There is also a Korean grocery store (I do not know if it is the same chain) in Bergenfield, on Teaneck Rd. in the Foster Village Shopping center. By the way, the Jamaican Restaurant in that strip mall is EXCELLENT!

My White Trash Cookbook has some really good ones in it. They usually involve Coke or Jello!

Well, when I am on the Atkins diet, I scramble them with heavy cream. But I remember reading somewhere that you should only add water. That is supposed to make them fluffier and lighter. So usually that is all I add.

I do not drink martinis, but a good friend of mine does. I would like to get him a good bottle of gin. Which brand would be the best? Any opinions out there? TIA

No, the 9 wineries were; Adair, Applewood, Baldwin, Brimstone, Brotherhood, Demarest Hill, Rivendell, Warwick and Whitecliff.

We just returned from the Shawangunk Wine Trail Wine tours and tastings in the Hudson Valley, NY. We visited 9 wineries in 2 days. It was ฮ for a couple and we went with 2 other couples. We had a great time and tasted several nice wines. I am not crazy about NY wines but some were quite good. The Adair Vineyards in New Paltz, NY was a good one. Their 2000 Estate Bottled Members Reserve was good. Demarest Hill Winery in Warwick, NY had a very good one, Warwick Black Pearl, made from their own foch grapes. It was an interesting and fun weekend. If anyone is interested they have a website. http://www.shawangunkwinetrail.com
