  1. Now THAT looks yummy and original! Nice work Rarerollingobject!
  2. Put me under house arrest in Thailand... I'll manage. Of course food in part of the agreement!
  3. The American public is by and large a glutton for garbage television isn't it? Not an iota of surprise here.
  4. Am I the only one to wonder about the attention paid to precise measurements in some recipes? I mean, most all recipes deal with cups to quarter cups, (or tbs and tsp's)... so if one was to use say a 10 or 20% difference is it severely going to ruin the outcome? I feel there is a fair bit of exaggeration on this subject of exactness mucht of the time. Granted I usually follow new recipes rather closely but... Curious minds wonder.
  5. I'd toss those in all kinds of things if I could find them! Mac and cheese would be good. Tried the ones in a jar once.... terrible. Only a faint resemblance of the real deal.
  6. Who cares about a funny choice of terminology when the food gets rave reviews?
  7. Ahh... the ole dine and dash. I think I may be guilty of one count many years ago. Believe it was tied into a college education. Shame on me.
  8. Sounds like it would be delicious with some soy sauce and a kick from some chili/garlic! Yummy.
  9. Interesting report and a good read, albiet a event which is a bit overly hoity-toity for my personal tastes. Soo Varn A Phoom. Not so hard with a bit of practice!
  10. I can't say as I've experienced that . Must be a fallback from the caveman days.
  11. That sounds like a scary experiment... bong water is gross.
  12. Brilliant job and step by step run down... now, if I can just find some spare time...
  13. The only free bread I've been offered was at Risotteria on Bleeker St. ... very good bread sticks with great flavor and texture.
  14. The great thing about making butter is you can use low qual (i.e. inexpensive bud) and get a much more useable product out of it. Have fun...
  15. Awesome... can't wait to give it a try. NOT. It will always be Mc____ in my book.

    Yelp

Yelp is business oriented and caters to the restaurant industry, not the consumer.Or, should I say it tries to suck in consumers. IMO it's very difficult to find much helpful and unbiased review of the eateries. I'll pass on Yelp.
  17. Two things... breakfast and burritos. Tartine on Guererro and Pancho Villas on 16th. Life does not get any better.

    Jalapenos

Hmmm... may give that a try some day. I wonder if you could dry them out and powder them? Would be good on popcorn!
  19. Two nations divided by a common language. Ah ha... ok. Sounds a bit labour intensive... "Sometimes, the biscuit is dunked into the tea and eaten quickly due to the biscuit's tendency to disintegrate when wet."
  20. Biscotti or a scone for me! digestive bisquit? ...
  21. Yesterdays wake up meal... A equally blended mix of steeelcut oats, rolled oats, and red quinoa...cooked then mixed with chopped nuts and dried some dried fruit... topped with maple syrup, yogurt, banana and bee pollen. Washed down with a nice strongly brewed dark roast organic shade grown coffee. Aaah.
  22. Yes. it is across the street. Seems as though China Garden has gotten better press than A&J.
  23. I can't compete with many of the entries here. Ok, last week I ate a chocolate old fashioned dunkin donut when my brother pulled into a driveup window in a snow storm. And today I sampled a few fritos honey bbq twists. ( I didn't buy them and never would have) but by some odd circumstance they tasted ok.... hmm... ok, I'm shamed. When I found this site I was under an illusion that the general populous was gormands and folks unchallenged by in large by the world of crappy foodstuffs. Oh woe.... things are rarely what they seem.
  24. Reaally great step by step photo essay here! And the result looks and sounds soo yummy! Thanks.
  25. When I lived in New Mexico I recall places serving burritos enchlada style.Seems like a good differention label. Also seems like more like a dish that should be eaten asap. The traditional corn enchilada is more likely to being still intact further down the line...
