  2. Lekkere bollen!!
  3. I make genoises all the time and this same recipes failled me once. Mixing the melted butter in the cake batter is crucial(sp?). Another thing i learned is when i bake it in a sheet pan is very easy to overbake it. Once you got it, it is the easiest cake to make and so versatile.
  4. Gimme some garlic, onion and high heat and i'll make almost anything taste good
  5. I have made lemongrass ice cream .........It was one the best ice cream me and my husband had. We have a drink back home that is made with coconut milk infused with lemongrass called dawet. For non savory dishes make sure to use only the soft white part of the lemongrass otherwise it will taste kind of ... well grassy
  6. My reaction was the same!! Altough i did make a tamarind sauce last weekend that called for a pinch of saffron The sauce was good but there were so many other spices in it that it blended in very good together.

    Ethnic Pop

My favorites from Fernandes , a company from suriname i ofcourse from there grew up with it. Some of fav were: cream ginger, pineapple and a green soda i forgot the name of. Most of our soda's were sold in bottles(non plastic) and you get the true flavor of it. I never liked soda's from the can untill i came here because there was no option. Actually they do sell coke in little bottles but they are a little more expensive.
  8. Best meal - Bossa & Americas although i was very disappointed with the dessert, particularly the tres leches that they claim is the best. Besy meal affordable- used to be mekong , vietnamese chinese until new owners took over ...not that great anymore! Worst meal -not soo affordable but i don't even remember the name anymore!!
  9. I use my coffee grinder for a finer result to make cookies. I also use it to flavor my black tea but i use them whole out of the pod along with some whole ceylon cinnamon ....is really good

    Bagged Teas

I love their tea, cold and bottled served at some restaurant here ...hmm the mango flavored is good and i usually don't like ice tea. I have home right now kiwi pear green tea ...it is so good. I get them locally here at a store called Costplus. Ashiana
  17. Hallo Klary, I happy to see that you are back..Take it easy..... I bake spekulaas koekjes a couple of days ago.....they were so good!! I made my own spices because i wouldn't know where to get de speculaas kruiden in houston. My husband who loves all things chocolate actually loved these koekjes. Thank you for sharing your recipes with us.
  18. NIce looking cream puff, Ling! Did oyu fill them with something? I made some about a month ago ....wow these are really good!!! They were filled with almond pastry cream, whipped chocolate ganache and flavored whipped cream. I was planning on making a croquembouche but my firends and i only made to the second layer. I really liked the whipped cream filling, soft and creamy covered with the crunchy caramel layer. HAs anyone here made a croguembouche before? I had trouble taking the cream puffs apart....I don't know if it had to do with the caramel if the sugar had reached the hard crack stage. I had to keep warming the caramel in the microwave because it would harden up on me. Ashiana
  19. I am baking the eggnog version of ultimate butter cake with crumb topping . I've cut back the sugar by 1/2 cup since the eggnog was already sweet. Let you know how it will come out. Ashiana
  20. I sweeten my heavy cream with powdered sugar (which has cornstarch in) and that stabilizes it. It stays good a couples of days in the fridge. I've tried gelatin before without any success. Ashiana
