  1. Paul Newman is the Chiefs player/coach in Slap Shot where Dave Hanson (one of the loony Hanson bros)prefers a grape or an orange. Ice hockey gone mad. (I thank my son for this info ) .....one good reason to breed
  2. 'a leg or a breast' ....Grace Kelly to Cary Grant in 'To Catch a Thief', (Monte Carlo, beer and chicken)

  6. I posted about this last week on the fast food thread. The interesting thing is that Starbucks has been there since the end of 2000 and in October last year the Chinese Govt. bought the Starbucks franchise from Mei Dah who was until then in a joint venture with the US co. The cafe does look out of place; it's attached to a shop selling paintings etc., shame commercialism has to penetrate this site. Will be interested to see what the govt. does now.
  7. hey Anne, I think you mean Sissy Spacek. the 'frozen breakfast' is from Coal Miner's Daughter, and I remember Babe making a pitcher of lemonade after she shoots Zachary in 'Crimes of the Heart, but no idea for number 2
  8. Arsenic and Old Lace ← 'arsenic, strychnine and just a pinch of cyanide' and doesn't Cary Grant look young
  9. ditto, except add parsnips to the peeler list
  10. The lobster bake you describe Karen is very close to what in NZ Maoris call the hangi, (Fijians call it lovo, in New Guinea it's a mumu) except that the food is wrapped in banana leaves or similar and then wet sacking is thrown on top followed by soil and the food (both hunks of meat and veg)and cooks for several hours. Smells divine when the pit is opened and the food is delicious and smoky. Also reminds me of beggar's chicken, love the tea-like flavour the leaves impart to the chicken flesh which just falls off the bone......mmmmmm
  11. I have never seen salt added where I learned to cook rice. Is that some sort of regional way? Just curious.
  12. All the eggs in number 2 are ordered by the boys and a cast of thousands crammed into a teenytiny stateroom(?) in A Night at the Opera, a Marx Bros. absolute classic
  13. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom I could see Kate Capshaw saying the line in my head. I just couldn’t remember the name of the movie until now. ← God, yes. 19. Suzi, what you will soon discover is the north of the harbour bridge and the south of the harbour bridge are respectively foreign territory....not many cross to the other side personally I don't like the northern suburbs
  20. I just HAVE to mention that I stood slack jawed in amazement outside a Starbucks in the middle of the Forbidden City in Beijing recently....Jesus, Mary and Joseph what were they thinking???????? Unfortunately I think I know the answer
