Thrilled for you Chris that it's finally happening!

When I get the chance I buy the giant double yolkers and the pee wee eggs. That means I've got lots of options. I use a double yolker in place of 1 egg and 1 yolk and a pee wee in place of half an egg. Of course there is a place on my way to work that sells flats of both so I am fortunate.

From your mouth to God's ear - but don't hold your breath! The program covers all of Ontario - a huge area, many, many small communities. The government reimburses the locum for accommodation to the tune of $120 a day. They could actually care less that I'm taking my child with me when I come up here.
-
Couple of them have the silly idea that I might just stay at their house for a month at a time. Or out at Freer Point which is 15 minutes out of town and then I could stay in the call room when I'm on call. Not going to work - I need to be able to run home and take things out of the oven between patients.
-
Nope - government pays for my accommodation. In order to get doctors to work in the north they have to offer them a certain amount of locum coverage every year. I work under that program. Anna tells me that I have to tell you that I am high maintenance! I require wheelchair access for the rug rat and a fully equipped kitchen so that I can bake for them. And enough room to store all our booze.

Your Daily Sweets: What Are You Making and Baking? (2017 – )
Kerry Beal replied to a topic in Pastry & Baking
Made by Vachon who also make the Flaky! Had a friend when I was a child who's father worked for Vachon - the house was full of products. Wagon Wheels were one of my favorites (fresh ones anyway). Had another friend who's father worked for Lifesavers. Don't think I ever purchased a package as a child. -
More for the 'and such' than the booze itself.

I suspect it would at least as regards me coming up - if I were to come up without Anna and the rug rat - then I would be fine wherever they put me up - but they wouldn't get the baking! But I can't really come up here without the child (or Anna for that matter) in the summer because my hubby would never finish the renovations in the basement! It comes down to money. For years one of the docs has owned this place and provided the accommodation - but it's a money losing proposition and he and his wife are reaching an age where they don't want to be the ones doing it. The other docs have been happy with the arrangement all this time and don't think they should have to pay. The hospital CEO's line is 'if we do it for Little Current, we have to do it for Mindamoya' - of course they need accommodation there as well - but it's kind of Catch-22.
-
Would have to be climate controlled for the booze and such and I don't believe there exists any such thing on the island.
-
I'm doing my best to convince the docs here that they need to come up with new accommodations for us for next year. I don't ask much, accessible for the rug rat, on the water, and enough room for the 18 years worth of kitchen stuff I have accumulated up here and the 7 (soon to be 6) boxes of booze we need to leave behind.
-
Indeed - and you don't really know all the stuff you need until you start.

Mine was passion fruit but decorated the tops with some blitzed freeze dried raspberries because I was too cheap to buy yet another thing!

You tasted them?

I must confess that I don't taste much difference between the Lorann and the actual bitter almond oil that I happen to have a bottle of made by Xenex labs. The Lorann has the advantage of not containing prussic acid which the real stuff does. And a small amount of extract probably isn't a huge problem in your gianduja anyway.

I'm having another go at the first lesson - I'm up north so I'm struggling with the colors - I have some red, blue, yellow and white powder and few small bottles of Glarus Gourmet Chocobutters. For the yellow splatter initially I didn't have an opaque yellow - so I added some gold interference powder to a transparent yellow Chocobutter. Later today depending on how civilized the ER is I hope to be able to get these molded. I also don't have a room cool enough so I placed the mold in the fridge before each color addition to bring it to the prescribed temperature. I'm curious to see what sort of shine I get. t.

Somewhere in my collection of polycarbonate molds I have one that makes 4 or 5 little perfume bottles. They are quite elaborate I recall.

Last evening I put together a blueberry summer torte for ER today and played again with the first lesson from the Andrey Dubrovic course. I was kludging together the colours as I don’t have the proper stuff here. Maybe later today we will see how they turned out.

More like I chose for her! If she doesn't like it she spits it out - if she does she wiggles with happiness.

There’s one more in the freezer!
