  1. Awesome plan..So when is the grand opening party?? I will bring over a six pack of Bud. IKEA sounds decent but I just dislike to assemble furnitures.
  2. This is an awesome dish. The first time I had this dish was at a Cantonese restaurant in LA's Monterey Park. I think they have also added some lettuce as filler.
  3. I walked into Chickpea yesterday and bought a falafel sandwich. The falafels are nicely crunchy on the outside and moist inside. However, I still vouch Mamoun the best in NYC. Sorry, Pan the place might be a shabby and greasy hole in the wall joint but the real deal sharwama is the true champ.
  4. They are not similar to Kalamansi. Yuzu looks closer to the hybrid of orange/tangerine/grapefruit..
  5. It also provides a mild sweetness to the soup. Yes, this is a Taiwanese Hakka's recipe.
  6. Simmer it with stock then add tofu and pickled mustard green.
  7. Good call D-man. Yuengling is perhaps the best cheap beer around!!!! Plus, it is the oldest brewery of the country!
  8. By the way, what brand of bean thread do you recommend for this dish?
  9. Support local economy try Brooklyn or Sixpoint Craft Ales.
  10. You are kidding me!!! Drinking Bud???
  11. Thanks for the cheese info. The pizza joint is several steps from our rental condo so we decided to try it out just for the heck of the it. At first, we (the Mrs. and I) were quite skeptical with the slices. The square shape slices look very much like the Silician or Ellio's except they are Neapolitan thin (crispy with a nice springiness). The first one we ordered was the gorgonzola slice-Awesome!!!! The second slice was the "shroom"...Fughetaboutit!!! And we finished off with stuffed pizza of ham and cheese...Fughetaboutit 2!!! By the way, were pretty hardcore with the pizza since I am originally from Brooklyn and the wife is from Queens. Forget about Chicago's deep dish, California Pizza Kitchen or Wolfgang Pucks you see in the airport coz...True pizza is to be eaten with hand and not utensils! I forgot the name of that joint but we definitely vouch that place! Yes, we also tried many street foods such as taco al pastor, gorditas, tamales and etc. My friends and I actually joked about driving up to Merida for iguanas and armadillos. AzianBrewer ← ← These squares are not from Pizza Pazzo but a small joint on 5th and 26th. But I do like Pizza Pazzo's shrimps pizza with a couple of dashes of habanero!! One of the most interesting scene that I witnessed is people putting Worcestershire sauce in pizza.
  12. What about shortening like Crisco? Are they available in Japan??? I know it is very bad for you but is lard an option?
  13. This is an awesome dish that ma used to make. Her version is not as dark as yours and minus the shitake mushroom. The Taiwanese version are lighter and shredded the melon in a fries shape.
  14. Try mashing it and stuff it in a puff pastry dough with chopped cranberry relish. Then bake at 375 for 10-15 minutes. You can serve it as a dessert if you sweeten the mash with vanilla extract and sugar. And dust it with powder sugar.
  15. Thank you for the welcome Torakris. I have to tell you btw I'm a big fan of yours. Love all your posts and great pics Umm... I haven't quite figured out how to post pictures yet. I think I read somewhere we can't just link from flickr? Any help would be appreciated. ← Wow....Torakris, you are a rockstar! This thread actually gave me an idea what to do with the turkey leftover. Onigiri with turkey and cran relish.
  16. ESB and Chimay...now we're talkin'!
  17. Nice, the chicken is plump and chucky. What kind of salted fish did you used? I have tried it with smoked salmon and it came out not so bad.
  18. Flavor Flav as expert witness? What a sad campaign!

    Cider

Granny Smith is quite tart for cider but the apple flavor are more intense than other varietals.
  20. One of the hippest or nastiest drink in NYC's club scene is "Red Corona". Add red granedine syrup and rose lime syrup to the bottle of Corona top it off with a wedge of lime. Yuck!

  22. I will start off with a homebrewed cranberry wit to work up the appetite, Sam Adam's Winter Lager with the bird and than Ommegang's Three Philosophers with the pies...

    Kronenbourg 1664

I will take French cider over any French beer. Kronenbourg 1664 tastes like Stella, Bud and Heinny here in the States.
  24. I like Ha-Ha chili bean sauce. It is spicy amd rich.
