Hi TimH, is your Easter menu very involved? We are having the family in for an egg hunt, 400 eggs for 6 kids and then a light luncheon. My employer designed the menu, she wants my root beer glazed ham, assorted finger sandwiches, assorted salads, and cookies for dessert. I had planned a more traditional fare, but if this is what she wants, my job is easier because it will be served buffet style. THen I have to pack them off to the ranch for the rest of the week which means having food stuffs ready to go as soon as the kids leave with their kids. It will be a little hectic, but then I will have a couple of easy days while everyone is gone. Happy easter ya'll.

my concern is that the cake would have to stay refrigerated until right before they wanted to cut the darn thing. It would not be displayed at all. Besides, lukewarm coolwhip is just not all that appetizing to me tastewise. A major health issue of having a refrigerated item held at room temperature for several hours before it is intended to be eaten is not a good idea.

Chiming in with kudos and a couple of comments. "It's just a flesh wound!" "I'm not dead yet!" And I really think you should go with these bandages instead, if you don't mind my saying so. Thanks for making The Heartland and the hometown look good. ← I have some of those, talk about fun. and the sushi ones are also pretty cool, but the BACON bandages, they rule.

Try them all, then give us a blow by blow comparison of what you think. I know everyone has their favorite for personal reasons. And I second the recommendation to check out that Whole foods and I hear that the Central on the south side has a new cafe. CHeck out the blood orange soda for starters.

There is a little coffee shop in Tulsa called Doubleshot Coffee where they roast their own beans and have developed a loyal local clientel. Now, they are being told that they have to cease and desist using doubleshot in their name and on any of their materials. Apparently, Starbucks has decided that they own the name Doubleshot. A local television station is following the story closely. The lawyer for Doubleshot replies that According to Starbucks So does Starbucks really own title to a generic term like this? Does this mean we can only use the term doubleshot when we are ordering that particular can of product and not when ordering a 'doubleshot' at a Starbucks? Will Starbucks get out the coffee cops to stop us from using the term loosely so as to delute their proprietary product? I didn't know if this was the appropriate place to post this story, it can be moved if deemed proper. Thank you.

I googled Olive Garden and besides links to the home page and newsletter sign up I found pages about Why you should not eat at Olive Garden that led to a blog and a bulletin board about the OG. I didn't find anything about where they get their cheeses from though. So I guess I will email and ask directly.

That picture of the beignets looks sooooo good, I can taste them right now. As for the amount of powered sugar, that looks just about right, enough to get all over your good black pants. But SOOOO worth it. Now for the smell of the cafe au lait to go with it. yum.

You can order a signed copy of Tom Fitzmorris' new cookbook here. A collection of over 225 memorable recipes from the city's favorite food writer.

And that is one of the major reasons I went down in January. The city still needs help, good for you all to help let the world know that there is still things to do and places to go and people to see and good food to be eaten. I left as much money behind as I could. Yes, the devastation is still there and the residents are dealing with it. This is an extract from an email a friend who lives in the Esplanade ridge area sent me today, There is still a lot of work that needs to be done, and one way to help is to go visit and spend money. I like to think of this as direct contribution to aid recovery efforts. Jason and Rachel, I enjoy reading your posts of your visit. Reminds me that I need to go back.

I like to use the method in THe Zuni Cafe Cookbook for the bread salad. Turns out everytime. Thinking about it, that is what Iwill do for dinner tonight.

Sounds like they are trying to sell travel packages at Sherman's Travel which was linked all over at the end of the piece.

what about calling up your local Pepsi bottler and asking if they do sell the syrup, or find a place with fountain despensers and hitting them up for a quart or so or however much you will need. Boy, those things are going to be sweet!

La Cote Brasserie should be open. edited to add I was just reading over at Tom Fitzmorris' place at NewOrleans.com/foodfest about a place in Chalmette called Flour Power. Review from Best of New Orleans and their web page, this looks like a definite search out and see what it is all about.

I am bringing this back up because I received a mailer from Central Market yesterday about this event. THey have quite a distinguished list of attending chefs including some eG regulars. I would be much more interested in Sara Moulton than Marilu Henner. The Grand Affair - 2006 version

Instead of taking I-75, what about taking the old main road, I think it was either 27 or 301 or 441 or a combination of all three. WAY back when, that was the main route and could be an interesting drive, definitely longer timewise but might turn up some dining gems. It would take you through Apopka, Mt Dora, Leesburg, Ocala, Micanopy and into Gainesville. And the stop at Cross Creek and Majorie Rawlings State Park would be on the way. Sounds like I might have a trip for myself happening there.

Having been to Paris, Texas I would venture to guess that Providence and Nashville have it all over the jewel of Northeast Texas. Never been to P.F. so I can't make that comparison.. I still haven't found any decent bbq there. Sad. Truly sad. I did find the Texas version of the Effiel Tower with the red cowboy hat jauntily perched atop. Back to the Evil Garden and there is one in Paris, Tx, I think there are probably more NY locals dining there than a foodie might be able to believe. All those dollars they rake in do not come from tourists.

The way I eat and to have a meal reputed to be better than Besh, I would need to get a cab...and graciously spend the 100. ← instead of taking a cab, just rent a limo for the trip. ← Of course, my plan exactly...just did not want to seem more ostentatious than I am already known to be.. ← Good man with a plan.
