  1. Sea Shack is a place embedded in the 70s, don't know how they stick around. Does McCormick & Schmicks have steamers? ← I have to agree with you there, however they have steamers I think! I personally don't like McCormick & Schmicks they were too stand-offish and preoccupied the time we went and their menu wasn't to my liking but they had only been open a month.
  2. Three easy questions?! I think! 1) Do you have an address or web link for them and/or hours? Thanks! 2) Is this the same Chicken Curry Salad I ordered today or in the past? (sans Pineapple ) Because I really REALLY like that one alot. 3) Can you find a store more local to me so if you're not open I can get my fix?
  3. Is there any long term diets that don't weigh in heavily (pun intended) with servings of fruits/vegetables in abundance? I've done and succeeded on WW but it's too slow going. No optifast please. I hate shakes and drink stuff like that. There's got to be a plan out there that does NOT involve veggies or fruits as the mainstay. Something besides plain calorie or "point" counting or weighing of the food. Like an all focacchia diet or something different. (wishful thinking on my part?!)
  4. Always at least 1 to 2 bottles of water depending on trip length. If I'm staying away from home I pack a case of coke because I'm a heavy-duty coke addict! (SODA folks... SODA!)
  5. Maybe the Sea Shack in Hackensack (right behind Route 17 Northbound) may have steamers? http://seashack.com/dinner.html#seafood You may want to check there.
  6. Can anyone suggest different places with different cuisine (1 chinese, 1 italian, 1 american, 1 french etc... )that have tasting menus that are under $100.00!
  7. Yes that's the one. There used to be a Clydes in Montvale across from the train station but it was pretty short lived as there is King Kone nearby in Pearl River and a Carvel in Montvale on Chestnut Ridge Rd (they also make their own Ice cream from time to time and they're next to the ERA? or something office)
  8. You could take a train to Pearl River or North of there and hop a bus or taxi I think, someone from that area may know better or maybe you can hop a ride with an egullet foodie!
  9. MmmMMMmm looks like I may have to stop in before we leave NJ! Fink welcome back I'm sure you'll make a great addition to Blauvelt. Is there a site/link for the menu and other information at all? Thanks in advance, take care, goodluck!
  10. If you get tired of Rita's Ices there's always Clydes or King Kone or you can head to Pompilio's in Westwood for Ices. Where IS the nearest Ritas to the Westwood area anyone know?
  11. I surely do hope that someone posts about BLAUVELT in the NY forum. Some of us folks in NJ may be easily confused or maybe not! Anyhow Tommy let us know with the appropriate link from here if need be. Thanks, you're always such a doll. P.S. If you head on over to Maywood let us know too.
  12. Hi Terry! Did you ever make it here? Anyone ever go here? I would welcome a new Portuguese or Spanish restaurant to try near or in Bergen Co! Rosie do you know if they got their liquor license yet... not that it matters too much to me, also what would you recommend other than the seafood? Thanks again.
  13. What's the commute to the city like? ← to answer you: 30 - 45 min by bus/train! LOL Email or PM me for details! I've heard good stuff about the Steakhouse in Maywood but have never been there myself! I went to the Ironhorse years ago with my sister but wasn't impressed. Maybe I had an off day or they did, I've only heard good things about them too.
  14. Since you're in Nutley you may want to hit 280 and go to the East Hanover Asian Supermarket it's in the same plaza as home depot more or less... you really can't miss it. I would bet they have it there. Goodbye, goodluck!
  15. I love Trader Joes because they always have a nice set of nuts available. Pistachio's shelled, roasted, salted or other nuts as well as dried fruits and other canned cordials, chocolate covered goodies, cookies and their frozen pizza, their cereals and tex-mex food is pretty good IMHO!
  16. Well my husband and I decided today was a good day to visit AHD. He liked the "design" of the hotburger hamdog and the toppings on the items he ordered, wish we had a fork it got a tiny bit messy. I liked my hotdog with sauteed onions, cheese and bacon my 2nd dog was overwelmed by the hot dog, it was a NJ Breakfast dog - tasty IMHO. We got 2 different dogs each and shared an order of french fries. We both also got the limeade, never having it before it was something I wanted to try... I don't think I like limes as much as lemons but it was cool and refreshing. I suppose I'm a bit jaded because I prefer Sabrett's hot dogs over Best brand and ALSO a "mistake" I ate this week, it was Oscar Meyer Beef Franks... ugh... way too watery/bland! I think that with a hotdog that is more spicy/peppery or perhaps offering kielbasi and sausage as a choice as well might work too? I know it's amazing hot dog but maybe, just maybe... you may want to offer other stuff. Just a thought. I'm happy we FINALLY made it to AHD before we moved from NJ! Anyone want to buy a home appx 45 minutes N/E of AHD to be near it? Email me! LOL
  17. Yeah I was thinking Washington Township up here in Bergen Co too... guess they mean the one WAY down in southern NJ area. WAH!
  18. I've seen Rita's Ices a bit south of the Dover air force base a few years back and I've seen it in a few other places over the last 5+ years... so it is a chain like McD's growing in popularity. I know Pompilio's in Westwood serves pretty good italian ices but I am not one to go by on the taste of ices. My hair salon down the street gets their choc chip ices & loves it. I love typical cherry ices. A true plus there are SEVERAL Whole Foods Supermarkets where we will be moving to... I saw at least 2 but there could be more. YAY!!!!!
  19. I don't know about South City Grill in "Roselle Park" (which is near Elizabeth) but I do know there is one on Route 17 in Rochelle Park. But I have been wrong b4.
  20. My coworker's friend owns Monsoon... (at least according to him it's his friend!) if it wasn't for "tray" eating I'd go eat there since I've heard it's good, I've eaten at Chowpatty and love all their stuff especially their falafel (hubby wasn't fond of it but I was) and their other stuff. But I really DO hate self service unless it's a drive up!
  21. Somehow "Kakaland" doesn't sound like anything I would want to eat at.... nor Doodooland either! (LOL) Today hubby and I went to eat at... you guessed it - Rasoi in Edison on O.T. Rd. As usual it was pretty crowded even for a Wednesday the service was great and the food was better. They had Pani Poori as well as the usual buffet items and a nice tasting sesame chicken as well. Their Tandoori chicken was not the usual dried out type that you get sometimes but very tasty and moist and the Naan was fresh made and hot. I wish I was a billionaire I'd hire their chef!
  22. I know you may laugh... but I don't like things like Milkshakes so Optifast and Slimfast n stuff are out. ::sigh:: Maybe, just maybe one day I'll find a "doable" diet before I die "fat & happy". (And no to those who suggest surgery)
  23. About 15 minutes from Vernon just outside of Warwick is the Iron Forge Inn, a food oasis in an area mostly devoid of good dining. New American creative cuisine, every dish is done with care. Web Site ← Wow and their menu looks great too... Menton is there any place like that out here in Northern Bergen Co area? YUM, and they feature Bobolink farm stuff.
  24. On the NBC site some AHD recipes...YUM! One day I too shall make it to AHD. http://www.wnbc.com/community/9285272/detail.html
  25. In case I forgot to mention - Congratulations for making the First page of the Food section last week. If this isn't the best week for a Picnic (from PICNIC!) I don't know what would be considered one! I hope you folks there all make it through this week and this summers heat - this week is supposed to be brutal so no doubt I'll be ordering in ALOT from your place and other locals as well.
