    Pala

    I like pala. shhhhhh......
  7. I had dinner at Belcourt the other night and found the ambience and the food to be quite pleasureable. It had a French brasserie look which didn't feel cheap or tacky, the food mostly seemed like new American with some Euro influence. It was all very good flavorwise, though a few things needed to come out of the kitchen hotter. Matt later mentioned that he was training new cooks, and that a well-known reviewer was in the house, so I couldn't realy fault the kitchen (especially on it's second night) I really liked the Boudain Blanc, it had really good texture and was served with a nice mustard and pickle. The giant squash raviolo with brown butter and mushrooms was also gone in one second..... The lamburger which was also on the menu at Uovo (his last restaurant) is still good and the harissa they serve with it kicks major ass. It's on 2nd ave and 4th st...just go, it's good.

Yes, it very veryvery very good. Go. You won't regret it. The guys a genius. The room is better than it was before, but still not the best, but the food is about to be considered amongst the best in the city. go now. I cant really comment on the dessert program, seems above adequate. also the sommoliers rock, bigtime.
  9. Knocked up????!!!!!! Wow! congrats.... secondly, sexy in the kitchen is gross. I mean if youre naturally sexy, go with it, but if you need a push up and heels..c'mon... I hate the pepper pants and stuff...wear whatever you want in your home (I cook in sundressed all year long...but in the professional kitchen the clothes (help) make the wo(man).
  10. Hot bread is squishy, and extra tasty you can eat 1,000 times more voila! tummy ache.

WOW! what an exciting report! do you have more photos? I've always wanted to know where the fungus grows....
  13. I find do hwa a bit pricey and a bit loud, but otherwise quite good. Not all tables have grills though, which is a bummer to wait for. To answer Raji. No, gyu-kaku does not have coals.
  14. I'm, signed up for the class!
  15. I strongly disagree. And its certainly not reasonably priced (for the quality) Mary's fish camp, pearl, mermaid inn, hearth....
  16. Lil- Dude, you must be my kindred spirit. I don't know what it is, but I have such a soft spot for crazies....I never try to train mine though, they're always so sensitive... good luck.
  17. what do people pay you for michbill? do they get to treat you like shit for the money? I mean if they have a nice experience.....it's fine right? there is no justification for rude behavior in restaurants. none. people with good manners don't do the things you listed. I understand wanting to have a good time, and not being overly concerned about having to "act pleasant" but if you want to make the rules- buy the joint... i'll never get it. People with perfectly good manners who act like barbarians in restaurants. yeesh.
  18. I thinkt here's ageneration gap in the bottle water thing. I think younger people generally were not a part of the fancy status-water blitz in the 80's, so the idea that all consumers are "being fleeced" by water that not even from a spring! is a bit of a stretch, I think a lot of people just buy water.....because it's in a bottle. I also find that filtered water is in many cases much tastier than yucky mineral laden spring water of he world.
  19. I'm surprised nobody mentioned the modified tollhouse...everybody I know has a little something they do to make it just...that much better. I double the vanilla and use dark brown sugar. A also skip the chocolate chips and go with nuts instead. I call it a no chocolate chip- chocolate chip cookie...
  20. being condescending not knowing the menu touching me (ever, anywhere) forgetting things then acting annoyed when asked again. If I place an order with a modification ie. burger no lettuce, I'd like the server to acknowledge the modification... upselling me... repronouncing words I've mispronounced " I'll hae the kee-no-ah salad" "so you'll have the keen-wah salad" it's embarassing... this habit natch excludes serves I'm familiar with or close with...
  21. I like it. Natch, the better the oil the better... if ou're going to put "stuff in it" it better be good stuff. I like olives that you can eat while dipping the bread. Or chile flakes...
