  1. Hi my name is tracey and I like butter and I am not alone http://forums.egullet.org/index.php?showtopic=60498&hl=
  2. Almost a traditional Jersey breakfast here today. Nice thick slices of Taylor Ham..aka Pork Roll with 2 soft fried aggs and cheese on buttered toast... Then I find out there is a brand new Taqueria in town...I was stuffed but did manage to hit the fairly new Mexican bakery for 3 pastries and a huge slice of flan for 5 dollars... tracey
  3. Well we headed over there to give Eric a big hug and see how bad it is. Its not that bad. At least from the standpoint of someone that isn't losing money while they're business is closed, and doesnt have to spring for any clean-up or repairs. The clean-up has begun, there is very little actual fire damage, smoke and water damage is extreme, but the fire dept didnt trash the place. We met some nice folks trying to buy some hotdogs, one really nice couple who were the advance scouts for their dining club. I of course turned them on to Egullet and told them to return to Amazing Hot Dog in exactly 6 weeks...Like we all will tracey

  5. ""Top 10 signs your an egulleteer: ... 7. When faced with a flaming grease fire, your first instinct is not to try an put it out but, instead, to grab a camera so that you can post about it on egullet. ... "" Hey I resemble that comment t
  6. wow indeed. What is the stuff in the tray? By water pan do you just mean a sort of aluminum foil drip tray underneath? I have just bought a gas grill and am hoping to use it to smoke various things this summer... ← .... if you mean the little tray on the front of the grill its actually pine needles and leaves blown off the roof.... and yes just an aluminum tray fill with water or apple juice. I havent used the poor grill since that day we have to replace the hoses. The fire traveled down the lines right to the tank, really good thing my husband was willing to stick his hand in there and disconnect it. tracey
  7. The teapot was replaced with the spaghetti pot a few years ago, we have a lot more spaghetti than tea. tracey

  13. Most of the time I make good old fashion chicken cutlets so they get sliced anyway, but a few weeks ago I wanted to make an app for a party with chicken legs. The legs out there were big enough for a 2 yr old human to walk with. What did chicken used to taste like anyway?
  14. My daughter just called me this afternoon about these cool noodles she got at Whole Foods here in Jersey.... Shirataki tracey
  15. Just got back from a trip to El Bandito. Having been by there a couple of time recently and not being able to get in the parking lot!!! We went at exactly 5pm today. Actually felt a little silly, only 2 other tables occupied. Until 5:30 when all hell broke loose and parties of 6 just kept pouring in the door. We started with the complimentary qesadilla and our ordered app of Chiliquiles w/chicken and I had the Serape...pounded steak topped tomatillo sauce and melted cheese with beans rice and salad, and hubby had a combo with roasted pork chunks, steak, chorizo, beans and salad served with warm flour tortillas....The steak is so tender its almost unbelievable, but the pork was a little dry. We also received dessert taquitos filled with apples served with whipped cream and vanilla ice cream to go with the shots of Cuarenta y Tres $95 with tax and tip and off to the IMAX for the Mars Rover show tracey
  16. "Oh, and I always order some Tamago sashimi at the end of my sushi meal, it's like a bite of dessert to me. Many places disappoint with commercially prepared tamago. This was obviously made in house and was lovely." Rachel I had heard somewhere that you should order this first to check the skill of the chefs. tracey

  20. The 2 things that really got me into salt were David Rosengarten describing some Malden salt he was served as a side with a stuffed nappa cabbage dish, you were supped to dip each bite...and the insanity of Moon salt. Only collected under a full moon, which I thought was over the top until I realized the highest tide comes with the full moon so there would be more minerals churned up. I have this book its very cool http://www.amazon.com/gp/search/ref=br_ss_...s&keywords=salt tracey
  21. Not a baker here, but I have to say one of the most memorable cakes I ever saw was 3 separate tiered cakes (low) (high) (low) joined by bridges with the bride and groom "toppers" walking towards each other on the bridges....it wasnt straight across, the smaller side cakes were angled forward a bit... and this was 19 yrs ago tracey
  22. 2 all beef patties special sauce lettuce cheese pickles onions on a sesame seed bun.... No that not right Bread dressing meat cheese onion tomato lettuce dressing....because the boss usually said so, and the onion is a tricky one in a deli setting. I like to make sure that it doesnt mix with the lettuce in case the customer wants to pick some off and the lettuce protects the bread from the tomatoes. On just a ham and cheese with mustard and mayo I usually put the mustard next to the ham, because so many ham recipes have mustard in them. Now that was all for work, for myself.... O&V meat onions lettuce O&V or O&V fresh mozz onion O&V I like most cheeses much better on a cracker than a sandwich t
