  5. Sounds like a good excuse for a side by side taste test. I'm sure you'll be able to find volunteers to do the tasting. ← I have found I have more success cooking a burger perfectly if it is frozen...you get great char without overcooking. I often now get just shy of fully cooked yet still drippy juicy. So, you will have to relearn to cook from fresh or keep em frozen tracey

    For the veg how about braised cabbage and apples with bacon...cabbage just seems a natural for the pork and perogies and it is seasonal for fall as is apples then with the cherry sauce....Mmm it could be a whole pork theme tracey

    Another Sunday afternoon....another birthday dinner. My M-I-L's today and just the 3 of us for dinner. I started with a orange and yellow tomato salad with cucumbers and spicy poached shrimp and a little something to discuss our upcoming trip to Munich over...Pork Schnitzle, potato dumplings, red cabbage and gravey Pinot grigio in the glasses and bakery German Chocolate cake and coffee later tracey
  13. Now I remember..it took everyone elses posts to give me all the ingrediants cold pineapple soup with (Japanese)coconut jellies, basil oil and strawberries So, coconut, strawberry, and pineapple go great with Basil tracey
  14. I often just cook apple chunks with rum, sugar, and spices and freeze it. It works defrosted as pie filling or over cake or icecream thats genius to freez in the pie pan, I do that sometime with lasagna... make small ones for just the 2 of us and pop them out of the baking dish so I dont have to lock the dish up in the freezer tracey

  19. once you know how to make a basic frittata you're all set. After that treat it like fried rice...whatever veggie or meat leftovers go right in. cured ham, onions, and peas is a good combo, also sundried tomatoes and spinach, bacon and asst cheeses, fresh herbs, potatoes and peppers.... it just keeps going. and they are good hot or room temperature and with a little sour cream/creme fraich on top too tracey
  20. As above...but give them a good squeeze in a towel like wringing out spinache. Cooked and frozen shrimp seem to turn into sponges to me. Try grinding them up with water chestnuts etc for shrimp toast or dumplings T
