I have a RL gift card that's been burning a hole in my wallet for about 8 months but I just can't bring myself to use it. My decision to not eat there has nothing to do with the quality of the food (as I've never had a bad experience with thier food), but it has everything to do with the wait. You can't go to a chain in this area without waiting at least 45 minutes. I can't stand it.

I'm visual first. If it doesn't look good, I'm not even going on to the next step. Then I'll pick it up and roll it around in my hand to get a better look. Then comes the sniffing and squeezing.

Agree with all of the above. I work in Barberton and I can tell you that these folks are serious about their chicken. While they are local chains, I wouldn't hesitate to suggest a Rockne's or a Winking Lizard for casual lunches. They both offer a huge variety of sandwiches, soups, and salads, not to mention a bevvy of taps. I've never had anything that wasn't delicious. There's also a place on Cleveland Road, near 30th, called "John's Bar & Grill" that lacks ambiance, but makes a helluva nice sandwich. When my husband's associates come into town, they insist on going to John's for lunch. I also really like The Geisen Haus in North Canton. They have the usual selection of bar food, but they also have a really big selection of German dishes and homemade soups. Oh, and beer. Lots of beer. As far as Akron goes, the only place on my mind right now is a newish Japanese/Hibachi/Sushi place called "Wasabi". It's on the west side of Akron in Montrose/Fairlawn area. I don't really dig hibachi, so I can't speak for that, but the sushi is the best I've had in the area.

Speaking of bologna... Clickity Not to shabby, eh?

My name is Leslie, and I love milk. I stock the house with 2%, but that's as a compromise. I like skim and my husband likes whole. He's really looking forward to the day when our 3-month-old makes the switch from formula to whole milk. Stealing milk from a child... shameful. He drinks milk with most of his meals, I drink it with comfort food, and my 3-year-old drinks it if it's in front of her but she usually wants water. The three of us manage to polish of about 2 gallons a week between meals and the obscene amount of cereal that we eat.

Mmmm... milk. I have a glass of milk with almost every meal that I eat at home. Except pizza... that's beer country.

Yup... Lobster Trap is BYOB for now, but probably not much longer. Our waitress said that they're looking at February and to just ask when you call for reservations. http://www.freetimes.com/story/4281 We really liked this place, BTW. My husband and I had the 1.5 lb. crab stuffed lobster and it was amazing. The stuffing was moist, flavorful, and full of crab meat. Really nice. The lobster itself was beautiful. Very fresh. I told my husband that we're going to have to go back soon because I'm going to have that lobster on my mind for a while. The apps were fantastic, the NE clam chowder was spot on, but the sides and salads could use some work. The staff was charming and atmosphere wasn't a problem as the dining room was full of large parties like ours, enjoying the BYOB policy.

We're checking out a place in Twinsburg tonight that's BYOB... Lobster Trap. Anyone been? Said to be sans corkage as well. The Free Times gave it a glowing review back in November and we can't resist the dangling carrot of good seafood. I'll report back with results.

Cream cheese. Ew. If you could see me trying to open a package of cream cheese, you would roll. It's hilarious. It's not easy to open those packages without: a) touching the cream cheese b) getting touched by the cream cheese, or worse yet, the cream cheese liquid that sometimes lurkes in the package c) God forbid, smelling the cream cheese. I do like cheese cake and there are a few cream cheese based items that my mom makes (cheese ball and a completely low brow "south of the border") that I can eat, but other than that I'm out.

Still pregnant... still craving. Yesterday it was a Wendy's Frosty. I ate it like someone was trying to take it from me. -

So? no problem I can see. PMS is Not about counting calories. It's about what you need! ← No kidding... 385 calories for 3 whole ho-ho's seems like a bargain to me. -
Another preggo here. I would ask for suggestions. You can be vague... ask if there's anything that she's having aversions to or if there's something that she's been lusting for. You can only imagine how satisfying it is for a pregnant woman to finally sate a craving! There are really not that many absolute no-no's, and they've been listed. Raw fish, unpasteurized cheese, tuna, etc.... altho' I've never been told not to eat shellfish or lamb before. (They did tell me to watch the nitrates, but I pretended not to hear.)

Get her a Left Handed Knife. SB (Champion of Left-Handedness) ← As a member of the Left-Handed Club, I can definitely say that the "handed-ness" of your knife has less to do with efficiently cutting an onion than does practicing the skill many times. ← I can assure you, it has nothing to do with being left-handed. She just has a certain way of chopping things that she's comfortable with and she won't consider adapting. My father and I have both bought her new knives and they sit there in their blocks unused because she favors this awful, ancient, and frightfully dull knife that she uses and will continue to use.

The KK in my neighborhood gives you a free hot and fresh one while you wait. They have bought my vote and I'm not ashamed.

My daughter asked for cheese and crackers, so I made her a little cheese and fruit plate and she was set. Her father hit the drive thru after football practice so my offer to make him something was turned down. I had a few crackers, a nibble of cheese, and some milk and called it a night.

I'm having a similar dinnertime quandry. I'm 32 weeks and my appetite just bottomed out on me. I'm not sick, I'm just not very hungry. My husband says that the baby is tired of all the spicy food that I've subjected her to for the past few months. What does he know? I thnk she LIKES it when I put Wendy's chili sauce packets on everyting. All I know is that I have to prepare meals for my daughter and my husband and I have no interest in food tonight. That's never fun.

I had to teach myself to chop things properly. It takes her an eternity to chop one onion. She blames it on being left-handed, but I think she's just stubborn.

I always have a stack of Totino's pizzas in my freezer for those REALLY lazy night when I can't even be bothered to pick something up, much less cook something. I love the crust. That's really about it... as far as what I actually keep in the house. I will admit that I do love many, many frozen meals. Someone useed to make boil in a bag beef and gravy and turkey and gravy. I loved those over toast. Taquitos. Yum. Pot pies. Double yum. Meatball Hot Pockets. Sigh.

Hey, I live about three minutes from Rhythm House! I've never been overly impressed with the food, but it's not a bad place to grab a beer. If your husband is back in the Bridgeville area and he wants a REALLY good reuben, I recommend The Bottle Shop in Collier. Fantastic reubens and an excellent beer selection. Apart from that, there isn't much worth noting in the Bridgeville area. A new breakfast/lunch place opened up recently (Shouf's) that I've heard is really good. The owner is Lebanese, which is reflected in the menu. Oh, and if I'm not mistaken, it is smoke-free (which is a nice touch for a breakfast joint). ← Thanks! He's there quite a bit so I'm sure he'll check it out.
-
Thanks for the suggestions. My husband tucked them into his planner for future reference. He'll be spending about 4 days a month in Pittsburgh from now on so I'm sure they'll come in handy. On this trip they ended up going to The Rhythm House in Bridgeville. I guess it took them a long time to actually get into town, so once they got to the hotel the last thing that they wanted to do was get back on the highway. Regardless, he was pleased. He's been there before and always raves about their Rueben (it is now the standard against which all other Ruebens will be judged), and the boss had a Porterhouse that exceeded his expectations.
-
What's he looking for? I am happy to provide guidance and suggestions. ← Steak. His boss is a big steak guy. I guess he's looking for something on the South Side/Region, but he said they'll head downtown if they have to.

Oh good. My husband is heading to Pittsburgh tomorrow and has been bugging me to see what "the gullet" has to say about dining there. He's spent a lot of time there already but hasn't really had the opportunity to go beyond fast until now. Most threads that I've seen mention Lidia and the Big Burrito groups but they don't seem to really be what he's looking for.
