Back when I drank Bourbon and Coke (as opposed to my Bourbon and club soda of today) I LOVED the little packs of King Oscar sardines and saltines that came packed by the dozen on a white card that hung behind the bar. You got six sardines and three double saltines per package, and BOY were they good with a sweet drink! This was when I was traveling thru the south east, the deep south and Texas on business, so you Northern types may not know whereof I speak...

Snowangel, that is the most gorgeous yard! Were you sitting in a tree to take such a grand arial photo? Just to keep this on topic, your rhubarb is spectacular!
-
Aha! Suzi Sushi?

Snowangel, if you haven't gotten the pan clean yet, try this: fill pan about 2/3's full of water and dump in a good slop of Arm & Hammer baking soda. Bring water to a boil & let simmer for a few minutes. The carbon dioxide generated by the heated baking soda floats the burnt stuff off. Turn off the heat and let the pan soak until cool. The burnt on stuff should lift off.

Amazing! I own a TINY condo in Florida; this sound ideal for a situation like mine! I could have this installed, and have plenty of room left over for prep area, unlike the barely 2 square feet I have now!

Wouldn't opposites attract? [Ducks] Add two for me: Jacques and Julia at Home and Food and Wine's Best of 2000. $7.00 SCORE!

These recipes are not "officially" mine, but I pass them on it that spirit! http://www.about.com/food/hubsearch.htm?SU...+salad&x=13&y=6 HTH!

Two more for me; Plain and Fancy from the Richardson, TX Junior League, and Yankee Church Supper Cookbook. Love the Friends of the Library!

Here goes: White meat chicken, celery, a little bit of red onion chopped very fine, Hellman's mayo, red seedless grapes, pecans or walnuts or pistachios broken up and the usual s&p. I have recently found a commercially available chicken salad that's almost as good as my own; Wendy's! It's a big chunky mix of everything in mine, minus the onion, and add apples. Amazingly good!

There's some pretty good looking stuff here: http://www.hersheys.com/recipes/recipes/search-results.asp and nobody says you HAVE to use their chocolate to make it!

Hoping it's warm and wonderful for you this weekend! Think quiche is the answer to your food question !

That seems to be the same recipe I used to have, except I used Joe & Nellie's Key Lime Juice instead of Persian limes. I get the J&N at Publix, but it's pretty much universally available, I think. It's really a yummy pie. My recipe was from "The Best Recipes from Bottles, Cans and Cartons" or somesuch book. It was one of the ones I lost in the fire.

(quote) After all the festivities, this is just a regular Monday. Well, besides the fact that we just spent 2 hours cleaning the house. Did I mention we have no dishwasher?(/quote) Klary, of COURSE you have a dishwasher! His name is Dennis! Congratulations, happy belated b'day and thanks for showing me another wonderful place I haven't been to yet. -

At the very least free dessert all around for the party! And if the waitress did to them as has been done to me (she was practicing her "Bunny dip" and dropped a full pitcher of ice water down my back. In the winter time. In north Texas.) my choice of dessert would have beem tete du waitron with whipped cream!

Wow, what a kick in the memory! My mother would drag me to Sunday School and Nana would cook a roast, potatoes, a veg and ALWAYS a desert. (We lived in the house with Nana & Pop) When we came in, it was always the guessing game as described above, with the occasional addition of a ham or a roast chicken (with stuffing! ) Maggie, thanks for the walk down memory lane!

Would you like to try a cocoa bagel? Yes! No! Is this a joke? What type of schmear on this one? ← Peanut Butter and Raspberry jam! OOOOOOOH !

Boston Baked Beans with molasses and bacon. Creamy coleslaw. Potato salad with a nice mayonnaise dressing with celery and onions. Now I'm hungry!

Since I last added to the tally in December, I have acquired Cook's Family Cookbook (from my son for Christmas), an old Marcela Hazan, all the Best Food Writing books except 2005 (any offers?) Fork it Over by Alan Richman, Women Who Eat, and a few more, so add 10 for me. (And DON'T ask me about bookshelves, please! )

Wow! Sugar free licorice, and a darn good price. THANKS! As a (fairly new) diabetic, I have a hard time finding "goodies" that are "legal", and I do love me some real licorice. Oddly enough, though, I dispise the yucky flavor thet goes into the blue nonpariel coated round of chewy candy that comes in all-sorts.

Now Shmear This! ... what does shmear mean to you?

My favorite is the fresh mixed cream cheese and smoked salmon I use to get from a bulk food place that's now long gone. Boursin with Garlic & Herbs is good, too. -
Pasturized processed "swiss" cheese. Gak.

OK, re Panna; I think you'll find a Mexican product called Crema to be a fair substitute. Get thee to a bodega! -
u.e., your pictures are wonderful! My boss hates them, because I spend so much time looking at them.
