  1. I will toss in a thought about the readability issue. In the paper book, many pages are on colored backgrounds, which many find hard to read. In the Kindle version, there is no colored background, and the text is much easier to read. Kindle screen shot……

    Lunch 2022

I am curious about the bread heating on a hoe, could you share a picture of said hoe with us? I have heard of hoe cakes and assume it is rather the same idea, but I am lacking a mental image. Thanks!!
  3. That all looks very good to me… we have no Korean eateries in these parts that I know of, more’s the pity.
  4. I wonder why it took them so long, actually… but it pleases me.
  5. I wonder if using powdered milk and eggs in your mix would allow you to simply add water when you were on the trail?
  6. I was wondering if the Northern Minnesotans were soon to hit the road (and hoping so!) So glad you have arrived safely.
  7. “The robots are coming for many of our jobs, but not mine!” 😆 Watch the video…
  8. I see her book is available for $1.99 (Kindle version) here…

    Breakfast 2022

And once again, your breakfast post had me eating French toast for lunch 😋
  12. I ponder this at times, as I’m sure all of us book lovers do. So far, my best idea seems to be just living with my books till I breath my last and then let the kids hire an estate sale professional to deal with it. I know this is magical thinking, but, what the heck, it is working for me at the moment.
  13. This is all the stuff that lives in the book
  14. I just have to add this little ramble of thoughts here…. I have many of the books listed above and they all make me happy, but the book that makes me the happiest to peruse is one that my grandparents gave to my mom, and eventually, she to me. They lived in a small mining town in Arizona (where I was born, BTW) that has long since been at the bottom of a huge open pit copper mine. This book is a fairly tiny one, with a 1958 copyright. The recipes were my childhood taste memories, which were passed on to my kiddos…. As things should be 💕
  15. I have a rather large collection of antique cookbooks and it is a fascinating dive into all manner of rabbit holes. I was quite struck, years ago, by the peculiar phrasing in this formula. Research ensued…. One can learn all manner of things from a cookbook!
  16. I find the search function to be pretty helpful in the books where the index doesn’t link to the recipe, using the recipe title as my search terms usually gives me a clickable way to the “page” I want to be on.
  17. I like to toss a few pimento stuffed green olives into my mini prep food processor and chop them fairly finely, then add “standard” mayo, mustard and pepper along with the yolks for a quick blitz. We like them…..
  18. And now for something completely different……… Butter Board
  19. I looked on Amazon and found what appears to be the same fryer Alt airfryer The page includes other fryers with windows as well. Happy hunting!
  20. As a post script… the Rancho Gordo website has a lot of great recipes as well!
  21. I like the various Rancho Gordo books quite a lot. A couple others that have not be mentioned yet are: Cool Beans by Joe Yonan (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) Grist by Abra Berens (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) Both of these are fairly new and probably can be found in public libraries.
  22. I am in your camp on this. I would much prefer not to be over served!
