Alinka, being a Texan, I was hoping it you would give tell us a little more about that steak you cooked up? SiseFromm, that looks great.. Where did you get the recipe for that.. How did the peppercorn react with the tangerine.. Was it too muted, or did the spice come through? Ling, That looks really great.. Is it possible to ask this question without considering the double meaning.. What was for dessert?

Speaking of Tehuitzingo Deli, there is another Deli in the Neighborhood.. Its called La Rosita and its like a half a block east of the Acura Service Department, on 47th I think.. I have only been there for breakfast and ordered a really good chorizo and egg sandwich.. But they have seating in the back and sell tacos for lunch.. Has anyone been? La Rosita Grocery 526 West 47th Street (betw 10th & 11th) New York, NY 10036 212-397-1137

Yup thats a thumb print alright.. My first time making them was last week.. Going to somewhere on Christmas this year, might have to make these cookies one of the things I will bring.. Has anyone seen them in like a red and green jelly.. Like Xmas colors? Maybe add food coloring to an apple jelly for the green? And use a strawberry or Rasberry for the red..

I think this is a perfect oppurtunity for you to look for a Chicken Milanese recipe.. If you look around the net you will run into several recipes for this dish.. As for the chicken, perhaps you can cook up some brocoli rabe or spinach, or some type of bitter green with garlic and olive oil.. Heat a pan of olive oil and add chopped garlic and cook at a low temp.. Then add the slighty steamed Greens.. Even artichokes and mushrooms too.. You could also if you made the lemon, butter white wine sauce you can cook the greens in that instead.. Heat the chicken a little in the oven.. Take the chicken out, put a layer of spinach, put a piece of ham down, then some mozzarella or sharp provolone.. Broil until the cheese melts..Put on a roll.. And thats an awesome sandwich! You could make a pizza dough and do the same recipe above as a pizza.. Chicken spinach, artichoke, mushroom, mozzarella pizza.. You could make a Chicken Salad.. Use spinach leaves, the chicken, and make a lemon vinegreatte.. Could add marinated artichoke hearts and mushrooms.. Edit to add: You could take that pizza and fold it closed. Now you have a chicken Calzone..

Clearly, no one who isn't blinded by anti-milk ideology would be able to resist such a well-reasoned argument. ← Its all in the delivery..

That looks really pretty.. Is steaming the stroop waffle common or do you do that.. What a fun idea.

Honestly, I think this whole issue is a lot more then milk.. Its just another attack at the moral fabric of society.. Milk and Cookies are out.. Cheetos, Soda, and junk are in.. Are we now so P.C that we cant even make a comparison between Milk and Cheetos without someone asking you to respect the good things Cheetohs has contribute.. Its milk should be the response to anyone trying to ban it.. ITS MILK.... Get over it and lets move on to getting rid of Christmas..

Roasted Parsnips: The duck was outrageous.. I made a red rice with oyster liquor, oysters, onion, peppers hot and green, thyme, sausage, tomatoes, chicken stock, and tomato paste.. Used a long grain rice.. Stuffed it into the duck really tightly and baked at 325 for 2 hours..When the internal temp was nearing 180 I blasted the oven to crisp the skin.. Cheese Course: My southern cheese course.. Was a super sharp cheddar mac.. Served with Taylor Flagate Port.. Cookies.. Short bread with pear and rasberry jelly.. Pecan Pie: No photos, but left over from this weekend..

Last night we had a friend over.. We made chesnut soup with a brandy finish, truffle cornbread madolines, a bitter green salad with a sweet mustard vinegraette, roasted parsnips, stuffed duck with red rice with oysters and andouille sausage..A mac and cheese course, Shortbread cookies and pecan pie for dessert... Bought the bird from Dartanga.. This thing was just too perfect.. It was like a model duck.. IMO way too lean, but still good.. This was not on the official menu, but these parts didnt go to waste.. After the duck went in,before company arrived, we had some time.. So I made the liver, heart and gizzards... Here is the liver, lightly coated with flour.. Fried in butter with a port reduction.. Chestnut soup before a cup of cream is added three tablespoons of brandy was added.. Salad: Arugala, Watercress, added with thin sliced radishes and cucumbers that were soaked in ice... Then composed the salad like a moussakka.. Using the cucumbers as the supporting base.. The dressing was a mustard vinagreatte.. Madolines:

As an act of kindness I ordered lunch for the office today.. Everyone's came but mine, the guy paying for everything.. So I bought 8 lunches and ate none.. Looks like its diet pepsi and a whole bunch of nothing for the kid..

Would this whole milk ban include whole milk cheeses too? Cream cheeses? How about ice cream too?

The rice was super.. It was this orange color most likely sazon.. It was highly seasoned and taste chickeny, however that could just be the sazon.. I am now determined to get the recipe and post it.. Its going to require me to have the recipe written in spanish and then translated.. So worth it..

Is Hotel 71 where Toast is.. I love that place.. The soup that has the brick bread baked over the top.. Oh baby.. It was an exact copy, as told by the chef, of some famous French Chefs recipe.. I would love to know whose it was.. There isnt plenty of room at S. Antoine if you want a fireplace.. The breakfast there was good last year.. Rabbit terrine for breakfast. good stuff.

As good as mole has ever looked to me, I have never had one that I loved.. I love the story behind mole. Where a Nun created this dish for a visiting Cardinal, originaly using turkey stock and turkey.. And how this dish gained popularity and ultimately became a defining dish for OaxacanCuisine.. But no Mole has ever lived up to my anticipation.. This, well this, beat all my expectations.. As JamieMaw said something to the affect, the food should taste like the chef just made love or fought with his girlfriend.. Well it turns out, this was not the doorman's sisters recipe, but one of the mother of his childrens recipe.. One that he is not currently with.. Hell, I want to get back with this woman if she cooked like this.. I told him he was crazy.. The complexity, the flavor of this dish, could only be spawned from extreme love or hatred.. I want to play it cool, but I am getting that recipe..

Thanks so much identifiler, Unfortunately I am not well enough to fly so I had to cancel my reservations.. If anyone cares to know, there will be room opening soon at the Auberge St. Antoine.

Well its Christmas Season and for someone living in Manhattan, that means its time to start tipping everyone around you.. I have doormen and for some reason, around this time, they start going out of there way for you.. As jaded as I am, I actually believe this way a legitimate act of friendship.. I cook for my doormen almost daily.. Every dinner you see, normally ends up downstairs too.. So often to return the favor my doormen bring me food from their country.. Wether its Polish, or Chinese, or Mexican, its fun to share.. So this Mole was made by my doorman's sister.. It was terrific.. Fresh Killed Chicken and a really spice moley.. Served with fantastic rice and toasted sesame seeds wrapped in a tortilla..

I also have my own to add.. I was using the smoker this weekend.. I went to a place I have never been before and got quails..The only kind they had were semi boned.. There was a mix up and they got left soaking in this brandy marinade for almost 6 hours before we realized.. They were smoked at a super low temperature.. I dont think the alcohol even burned off.. Needless to say, they were so soaked.. I swear, you couldnt serve this to a minor.. It was gross..They were ruined.. What a waste of a beautiful bird..

There is really nothing more painful then a burn.. I think I would take three cuts to a bad burn.. Like those kids in high school that cut themselves.. EH, I am not impressed.. Show me a burner, now thats a bad ass... Those freaking pulses of pain, what is that.. OMG, whiskey is the only thing.. Ice pretends to be your friend, but coming off it is twice as worse..

Last Saturday (a rare Saturday off for me) I headed over to Jerry's. On the way I noticed that the Majestic was open, so I decided to stop on the way back. I've been to Jerry's a few times since my last post and am happy to say that the dogs are 8 to a lb again. I think that one time they may have gotten the wrong size from the distributor. The dogs were fantastic as usual. Boiled, then finished off on a steel griddle for added flavor and snap. These dogs are always fresh, juicy, and tasty. Only other place I like as much serving beef dogs is Syd's. But I go to Jerry's more because it's only $1.50 for a dog (8 to a lb). And it doesn't matter how many toppings you get; still the same price. Syd's is $3.29 for a 5 to a pound dog that is boiled then charbroiled. Both are Best's with natural casing. I usually buy these dogs (Syd's) at the Best factory and prepare them the same way at home. Same dogs for much cheaper than what I pay at Syd's. When I want a great dog without having to make it myself, I run over to Jerry's. On to Majestic Lunch. I ordered 2 dogs with mustard and chili. They are indeed grilled Sabrett's, but much smaller than the dogs at Jerry's. My guess is 11 to a lb. They cost $1.60. Good dogs, but one was definitely done too long. The outer casing was brown and sort of like burnt toast with small crumbs falling off with each bite. The chili was flavorful, more sweet than spicy, but good. These are good dogs, but I much prefer Jerry's. ← John, the man knows all there is to know about hot dogs.. I am assuming they do less business on a Saturday.. Who was working @ Majestic.. Husband and wife or the son? I am thinking its local crowd sans work week people on the weekends and they might sit around longer on the grill.. I cant imagine the women serving an over cooked dog.. Do you get chili at Jerry's.. Whose is better between the two.. I would like to take a to go order of chili from the Majestic and add it to the Dog at Jerry's.. What was your take on Majestic's Mood.. For me I just love the warmth of the place..
