  2. Thanks Bux and Ptipois, l'Astrance and l'Ambroisie are on the list!!!! L'Ami Jean has just been put on our list, thank you guys.. La Chamarre seems a little too much for my taste also... Thank you guys for helping me.. I am not buying a Michelin or Food Guide Book.. Why should I, this is a much greater a resource.. (Every now and then you gotta show some love) Are all these places considered Haute.. If you have to go to only 2, where would you go.. Alain Ducasse L'Arpage Le Grand Vefour Guy Savoy Ledoyen Peirre Gagnaire Taillevent - My aunt's favorite..
  3. Great post.. Sounds like a great weekend..
  4. Unfortunately, no lunch today in any form.. Way too busy.. Hopefully tomorrow..
  5. Just wanted to post what a fantastic meal I had there last night... The last time I went, over a year ago, I was undewhelmed.. Every dish I had last night during the tasting menu worked and was really enjoyed. I didnt take notes or photos, we just wanted to enjoy the meal. Besides, the lighting does not allow quality photos.. So I cant share how beautiful everything looked. But since my last time there, I think the taste has really caught up to the presentation.. I was very surprised and happy for them ,to see what a high level they are operating at. Desserts were terrific too.. My favorite was the manchego cheese cake.. All in all a fantastic experience..
  6. I dont.. But if you want to meet me, anyone, lets make it 1130 or 12.. I'm buying....
  7. If Doc is delighted, then thats all I need to hear..
  8. Thanks Doc.. Which would you go to, or should I do both.. l'ambroisie or l'astrance or are they not even on the same level..
  9. Have a reservation for this evening.. Looking forward to it.. Haven't been there in a year or so..
  10. Wow Laidback.. Thank you soooo much.. It doesnt sound like I have to leave my street.. Your post has just gotten me very excited to go.. Thank you thank you..
  11. Hello, It is felt my first topic has become a valuable resource, I decided to post about my trip on this thread.. We have finally settled everything. From dates (changed for work ), to flights to lodging.. After a few rejections, we finally found an apartment.. I am happy to say its down the street from the place we originally wanted.. So i still can use the suggestions people have provided.. Here is the apartment: Located at 15, rue de Monttessuy, 7th district.. Its got a pretty decent kitchen Apartment So now we are planning our meals.. Dinners mostly, because we want to start making reservations immediately.. We were wondering how to attack the restaurant situation.. We both have some French Experience.. Bistro's, and some Haute.. But there is much more besides that.. We are looking for a non-touristy experience. What I would love is if people could give me there favorite 2 or three restaurants with in each catagory.. I know its a lot so I am not expecting every person to answer every catagory.. Thank you for help.. Hopefully this too will become a valuable resource for people visiting.. 1. Fromagerie 2. Boulangeries 3. Charcuterie 4. Pâtisserie 5. Haute cuisine 6. Nouvelle Cuisine 7. Bistro 8. Brasserie 9. Confiserie 10. Cuisine Du Terroir 11. Crêperie
  12. therese, So happy you are having a wonderful time.. Enjoy yourself.. Daniel
  13. Front Street Smokehouse opens tomororw for lunch.. If I have the time to go, I will definately report my findings..
  14. Thanks Randi.. Its lonely out here in Elizabeth.. I appreciate your words.. On Saturday and Sunday night after drinking that coffee I had to do something shnazzY.. I took Kona Coffee and I ran it through the machine twice.. Then I poured milk that I had cooking on the stove with cinnamon, vanilla,sugar..(Sunday I added a little white chocolate).. Ran it through the blender to get foamy and added it to a little coffee.. It was good, but there is something just so simple and wonderful about there coffee.. Elizabeth is a coffee town.. I get gas over on third street and they sell espresso(good espresso) at the station.. I should add those photos one day..
  15. I am still looking for my monkey table..
  16. I was surprised to see the challenger use Ronzoni Manicotti..One of the judges commented that it wasnt cooked.. A good time saver, but not making a fresh pasta cost her points.. I agree with Moosnsqrl, it was funny watching Chef have to explain how to eat a dish.. I thought both sides did extremely well with such little time..
  17. Whoops.. Sorry about that, it seemed like a good plan. .However, I could do a lot of damage in 21 minutes at White Manna.. You could easily eat a bunch of little burgers and be out..
  18. El Rinconsito Catracho rough translation "A little corner/piece of Honduras" 249 Second st (908)820-0990 I attempted to order from this place twice and got hung up on each time.. Finally, I had a coworker order for me in Spanish..THough the menu is translated into English, noneone working there does.. THe restaurant reminds me of a weed spot.. When you walk in there is really nothing going on.. There is a radio playing, a tv on, a few tables and chairs set up in this huge space.. There is a pool table in the back where there are a few rough characters drinking and smoking.. Food comes out of this whole in the wall.. There were maybe 15 people in the restaurant.. I was the only one eating... I ordered the Bandeja Tipica Hondurena.. Which means a typical Honduran Dish.. Served with Steak, Pork Skin, rice, avacado, salad, and tortillas.. Everything was pretty average.. The best part was the Chicharron/Pork Skin.. It was meaty thick cut of bacon.. How bad could it be.. Overall this place is not worth returning to.. I would go back to grab a Papaya drink but, not anytime soon.. Not all was lossed..
  19. When you say you are not interested in fast food, does that mean just chains.. Because you are very close to White Manna Burger in Hackensack... And there is also a pizza place by there that I have heard Jason Perlow mention.. The name escapes me.. 1: Start out going WEST on EMERSON AVE toward SUSSEX RD. 0.2 miles Map 2: Turn LEFT onto NORTHUMBERLAND RD. 0.3 miles Map 3: Turn LEFT onto RIVER RD / CR-17. 0.7 miles Map 4: Turn RIGHT onto CEDAR LN / CR-62. Continue to follow CR-62. 0.3 miles Map 5: Turn LEFT onto CR-503 / RIVER ST. 0.2 miles Map 6: End at 358 River St Hackensack, NJ 07601-5817, US Map Total Est. Time: 6 minutes Total Est. Distance: 1.88 miles
  20. Chicken mole sub with shredded lettuce tomato and mayo.. Serve grilled mexican corn with cheese when you can get good corn.. I would do maybe a multi bacon blt.. Do like 2-3 different type of bacon, 2-3 different colored tomatoes, 2-3 types of lettuce... Maybe two different types of bread..Or a marbled.. Maybe do a fried green tomato blt.. Brined and smoked bacon wrapped turkey breast with avacado, tomato and cheddar. How about latke sour cream brisket and onion sub.. Or chicken liver and onions with latke.. Latke on a sandwich.. Excuse me.. I need to go think about this one..

    Crab Legs

I have a couple pounds of frozen crab legs.. Dont really feel like leaving the house to get sea urchin to stuff in it and broil a la Nobu Cookbook.. Was hoping someone could suggest what to do with them.. Stuff them in raviolis, cook with pasta, stuff with bread crumbs or crackers and broil... Or something simple.. I just dont know if flash frozen crab is good enough to eat on its own, is it? Whats your favorite recipe.. Edit to add: I have this big block of blue cheese.. Wouldnt mind a suggestion that included it.
