Does this involve Harold and Kumar going to White Castle in a movie that incorporates Superfreak in the score? ← I like that.. And when they finally get to White Castle I need a scene in slow motion with Fire and Desire playing too... Taking a sip of the drink "You were as cold as ice"

I had my second dinner of the evening here last night.. This dinner was roughly 45 minutes after eating a niced sized dinner at Porchetta.. We arrived around 1130 or so to a fairly empty restaurant.. We started with the tea sandwiches and the mango with sugar chile dipping salt.. Here is the mango and chili dipping salt.. I felt it was a homage to the fun dip of my youth.. It also had the whole Mexican chili, tamarind, salty candy thing going on too.. I really enjoyed this dish.. It was a nice way to wake up my "slumbering palate" Nexy we had the Fatty Tea Sandwiches.. I liked these guys just fine.. I liked the thick soft bread and the mayo in it.. It reminded me of the day after a holiday at my Grandmother's house.. Just a big slice of homemade bread and a lot of mayo.. I felt the ingredients were rather sparce in there sandwich however.. It was over run with Mayo and was just a terribly unhealthy sandwich.. Do I like a mayo sandwich? Of course I do.. But I could stay at home and have something like this.. Next we moved on to steamed pork buns and the crispy pork and watermelon salad.. This guy was just the star of the night.. A dish this good at a restaurant gets an automatic gold star with me.. This might have been the only dish I truly enjoyed here but, hey this is certainly good enough.. And I havent tried everything on the menu yet either.. Pork was just sick.. And went so well with the pickled watermelon.. Steamed Pork Buns.. Eh.. Didnt really lilke this all that much.. The pork was a little on the dry side except for the overly fatty areas... Flavor wasnt too exciting either..The bun itself was average.. Finally we got the braised short rib Redang with kaffir and toasted coconut.. This was good.. The sauce was really oily, I liked that the short ribs seemed to be crisped after braising.. And I loved the toasted coconut on top.. At this point of the night I was really really full so the heavyness of the dish was wearing me down.. However, I would like to give this bad boy another shot.. For the toasted coconut alone, this dish would be worth ordering again.. At 22 bucks its a little steep though.. I wouldnt mind if they offered a half a portion either.. Free little coconut rice cakes which I really enjoyed.. All in all the place has promise.. I dont think I ordered particulary well... If I was in more of the mood to work I would be excited to try they Crab dish.. I know nothing about the food of Malaysia and would obviously like to know more.. Pan's Skyway suggestion is still top on my list.. That being said, I feel this food was incredibly Fatty.. Coming from someone who loves fat and can open a small high end Fat Bar out of the contents in my fridge.. When its done well its great, I felt alot of this was for the sake of being excessive.. However, that pork and watermelon would be the great start to any meal.. "I'll be back"

I will certainly keep you all abreast.. Sorry had to do it..

Besides that, it just seemed totally unimaginative for an upscale diner. I would have rather eaten at a normal diner most likely.. I just ate at a restaurant that goes for the upscale diner thing, The Buckhead Diner.. I didnt like my meal there and would have rather eaten at Buckhead.. Diners have buffalo wings? And since when is tempura upscale? Root beer floats good choice.. Really upscale with all the time in the world would be like at Tru, homemade root beer and ice cream.

I am going Vegan just for two months. Want to see whats that all about.. I figured I have done the too much meat and cheese thing.. Try to see the way the other side lives.. Also, the Chinese and Japanese eating habits are addressed on follow up articles link at the bottom of the original article..

Article What? Is there any truth to this article, has anyone else heard this arguement.. As someone who is about to start a Vegan Diet for the next couple of months on Monday, I am really wondering if this increase in Estrogen thing is actually true...

That suggests he's making return visits, and a review is probably imminent (within the next 2-3 weeks). ← I dont know.. I thought portion sizes were average.. But thats a great catch Oakapple about the review..

Yah it was a fun night, and a tough morning.. Sneak, rereading your review , its nice to see we agree.. To be honest, I didnt know that this place was or is getting bashed by people.. But if there was something bad to say its the pace.. And only having been there once and not having read another review besides yours, I didnt realize that it was typical of Porchetta.. If they dont want to change, its fine by me.. I just would take that into consideration the next time I go.. Because its not like the service is poor or bad, its really the time it takes the food to come out of the kitchen... Recently I was at this restaurant in Atlanta, Buckhead Diner.. I ordered scallops with risotto and 10 minutes later, my dinner was ready.. Now, I rarely order risotto for this reason and it was re-enforced that night.. It was clumpy and hard.. Yes it came quickly, but I would prefer it not have come at all. Now if I ever see risotto on the Porchetta Menu and have nothing to do for an hour, I would happily order it then, go home, take a shower, change my shoes, come back, and be very excited for it..

Had a really good time eating dinner here last night.. This was a part of an eating binge I happened to go on last night.. I started my night eating dinner here around 730.. The place was almost half full when we arrived.. I was super impressed with the food.. The pace of the meal was almost close to being annoying but, with how well each dish was prepared, I understood the waiting.. If I thought my food or order was just sitting around the back, I would have been annoyed.. But I really like to think that a lot of care went into each dish.. Our waitress was really friendly and informative.. We went with the 4 course route.. We each order from an appetizer, then a primi, a secondi, and dessert.. I stared with baby brussle sprouts with pork belly, fried egg, and a mustard sauce.. It was perfectly done.. Every thing on the plate was delicious on there own.. The sprouts carmalized on top, yet still held its shape.. The pork belly was done with such care.. Thats why I didnt mind the waiting time.. If it had come to my table and it was just ok, or slightly less perfect, I would have been annoyed.. There was nothing haphazardly done on the plate.. Tripe Sicilian Style. I absolutely loved this dish. This was the best tripe dish I have had... The sauce was almost like a curry, you could tell the African influence to the Sicilian.. It was a dark sweet and sour sauce.. There was cardamom, piquilo peppers.. The tripe was in little strips done very well.. I would love to make this dish into a sandwich.. My buddy ordered the gnocci and it was really impressive.. Perfectly little airy gnocci in a truffle sauce.. When i go back, I am getting any gnocci dish this man is willing to make.. We both went fish for our main courses.. Really we got pretty drunk waiting for our food to come.. I think I was able to finish two glasses of wine while waiting for our fish.. But hey, I was in no rush.. Or actually I was, my girl's flight was landing at 10:30 and we were meeting for dinner at Fatty Crab... I was really looking forward to this dish.. I only like fish dishes when they are prepared perfectly.. Meat can be a little more forgiving, but if fish isnt perfect, its almost bad.. Mackeral comes out crispy and perfect! Served with fried artichokes, in a thick garlic "soup" with a citrusy pesto layered on top..It was called a gremolata by our waitress.. Whatever you call it, it was that extra pop that made the dish.. One of the better fish dishes I have had since Bouley.. By dessert I was pretty much whacked.. There was coffee and the Glens showing up.. But from what I remember there were enjoyable.. Here is an olive oil cake with pistachios baked in served with a poached and some gelato.. As good as it sounds... Enjoyed it , we ate every bite.. This was another dessert and I liked it better then the olive oil cake.. There was bannana and other things. I really appreciate the high level and quality of cooking that is going on here.. The attention to detail and execution is very impressive.. Despite the comforting, dark and relaxed vibe of the food and restaurant, its beening done with the utmost care by an amazing chef.. 35 minutes later I was sitting down to start another big meal at Fatty Crab..

It's a little more involved... ← I was wondering.. I will take it back.. For some reason I just think of an Indiana boy growing up with a daddy owning a grocery store as living off of milk..
-
David Bowie and Feta Cheese..
-
John Dillingers father owned a grocery store in Indiana.. So, I am sure he can be connected to several glasses of milk..
-
Charlie Parker and Dizzy played in Havannah.. And Castro I am sure has shared a bowl of borscht with the Russians..

I dont think telling this chick that the restaurant is not ignorantly serving foie gras but, is aware of the issues.. It is not arguementative to explain ones position as long as its done with civility..
-
Before I eat at a restaurant, I find out who the owner of the restaurant voted for, what religion they are, and how they treat there mothers..
-
I was thinking the same thing because he looks at all of them like there is something wrong with them.. I was thinking of my college days and it easily could be shaved eyebrows too!

I really am starting to dislike Sam.. I think he is an affected jerk.. One thing that stood out besides his envy of Marcell was his Italian Grandmother thing.. I was thinking to myself, this is what it must have sounded like when Rocco was coming up with his Italian Restaurant.. He said, "think 80 year old Italian Grandmother cooking in the back".. Well, he is is not an 80 year old Grandmother and that sort of stuff should not be taken lightly.. What 80 year old grandmother would serve that dessert.. I think his food is a lot like him and his style.. It looks like exhaustive measures have been put into appearing natural... He is whack.. That guy Ilan is another person who bothers me and should be the next person to leave.. Everything he makes gets completely panned by the judges.. He is a poor mans version of Marcell and that probably why he hates Marcell so much.. I am thinking its going to be French Chick and Marcell in the finals and everyone is going to sabotage Marcell in the end..

Thanks Meg, its been awhile since I have gone back here.. I might have to go back and get that hunk of feta.. If you go to the Broadway location you are not far from the Parisi Bakery.. I believe its on the NE corner of 31st street.. I would go to the location in Manhattan when my commute would put me in the area. I dont know if the Queens location has a deli, but the breads are worth checking out..
