Texas is still opened.. Called two minutes ago. In terms of Duke's and Earl's I know nothing about there set up in the back.. But i would guess niether of them are all that good..
-
Although i have never eaten at either Duke or Earl's i have certainly drank at both.. My question is though, if you add Earl's shouldnt you add Dukes? Duke's Barbecue, Southern & Soul 99 E 19th St, New York 10003 At Park Ave S Phone: 212-260-2922 Fax: 212-260-3088 also Texas Smokehouse BBQ 212-725-9800, 438 Second Ave., New York, NY

HAHA.. I like the references from my last few posts.. I am glad you are enjoying my writings.. I just like the fact that someday as I am on my lipator, or whatever they give you for cholesterol, and as i sit next to the wall socket waiting for my electric heart to recharge, I will have these memories to look back upon..

Melo what time did you go, and was it crowded? was there a wait?

Of course you could do it with ice, but i prefer the non watered down version and the consistency is a lot smoother.. This one place i go to in Vegas serves as a dessert ice cold fresh peeled lychees in a martini glass.. Simple ( if you werent in the middle of the desert) and terrifc..

I dont know who the dessert chef was last night.. And I was so full i didnt even look at the menu.. I couldnt even look at food.. But the old dessert chef opened and was put in charge of a place that is known for the incredible tea service.. She is also the one who first made the green truffles they have at Saka.. I went there a few months ago when it first opened and it was good, ended the night at decible.. The name of the new place seems to escape me but its something like Chahn or something like that..

My girl and I take a can of lychees dump them out with the juice into a blender.. At vodka, hit a quick pulse and then put the mixture into our ice cream machine until it begins to slushify.. Really great drink..

I was excited to post pictures of SakaGura but Alas FatGuy beat me to the punch like three years prior.. But anyway, I will still post them.. Wanted to show the interesting entrance to the place.. Its in this unassuming office buildings basement.. Its always fun to see the surprised looks on peoples faces when they discover this place.. Last night it was me and my girlfriend who went. For peoples first time I really try to confuse them by walking down 44th and cutting through a parking garage that goes through to 43rd street... Here is the lobby of the building After walking down a flight of stairs you come to the entrance.. We sat at the bar while waiting we ordered a Poochie Poochie sake.. Its a light sparkling sake.. And a beer.. We also ordered a cold Japanese Eggplant and asparagus with bonito flakes and some vinegar from the specials menu.. Excellent.. The bonito added a really great smokey flavor.. We then were seated.. In the back room its really pretty and private back there.. We ordered a junmai of some sort and a few more beers.. This dish was a cold cheese tofu dish from the specials menu.. Really interesting. Tomago with eel.. I love their tomago there.. Sliced Squid with garlic.. They have the squid separated into the three different parts.. Its really good.. Great presentation. Cold duck wrapped around scallions served with a little basil sauce.. This dish is one of my favorites.. Light refreshing, fantastic.. It has changed a little since the last time i was back but still excellent.. Pork stomach.. Excellent.. The meat was so so tender and the sauce a little vinegary a little saucy.. This might be one of the best pork dishes i have ever had.. Stewed beef tongue,.. The beef tongue is so soft and has absorbed the sauce.. There is radish in their that is cooked and absolutely perfect.. One of my favorite dishes too.. I forgot what the heck this was.. The sake has kicked in and we are on bottle number three at this point.. This was a fried white fish in a vinegar sauce.. Outstanding too.. The grand finale! Beautiful beef on a hot stone.. First there was fat placed on the stone so the meat wouldn't stick The we grilled.. Since the dessert chef left and is now in charge of her own place downtown, i was excited to try the desserts.. However, me and my girl were full to know end..

I just wanted to start this off proper like... This is an old photo of mine... Its 5 pounds of meat to start off and 1 egg to hold.. Worshtishire sauce and a ton of black pepper.. A half pound of cheddar, an onion, mad pickles, and what nots.,,So technically it satisfies both catagories.. Raw meats. I asked for five pounds of ground beef and the butcher was out, so the 22 year old kid was burning 12 dollar steaks to give me 5 pounds at 3.99 a pound. Fried first then baked then fried then broiled with cheese then fried Then handed to a friend who went mad... There were stories involved, but i still think he will be back.

I choose an RV because I want all the advantages that come with it as well as all the disadvantages... Does your wife have any good restaurant suggestions from her trips..

Yes i do!!!! Haha.. I would have no problem living in the truck right over the bridge somewhere in Jersey.. I cant wait to read your report too! I flipped through some of the pictures and definately need to give that my full attention.. Stupid work keeps getting in the way..

Funny story actually.. I found some batter recipe and decided to use it.. It was basically like putting pancake mix on a piece of chicken.. So i first battered that one nubby drumstick in the photo and checked its progress.. I was very unhappy with the result so, I removed the breading and started over... At this point the rice was going to be done soon and the greens were blanched and waiting to be fried with the onion and bacon.. So i made a basic flour, hot paprika, white pepper, black pepper, salt, garlic and dredged and fried. Still waiting for the popeyes recipe..

Funny you should ask. Actually while making this road trip for august, we found another route.. In two weeks we are driving up to idaho from las vegas on 93 and then taking route 90 across to New York.. Once driving is done I want to take a house boat all the way down the Siene into Holland.. I also see a greek island via boat tour.. So basically once the car has been exhausted, it might be on to boats.. But these are a bit more costly ventures..

OK - We are planning a trip for late August and wanted to get an early jump...Does anyone know a cheap cheap cheap place to rent an RV for our trip. So far we have found one website that quoted us at $2,900.00 for 9 days. Looking for a quote half of that. Thank You edit to add.. this is the route we are going to take.. northern route

So tonight I decided to make fried chicken even if its just the regular way.. Started out cooking the chicken in buttermilk.. Actually i started out with a bloody mary... Then i cooked the chicken in buttermilk.. Then breaded and fried it.. For sides i made collard greens with bacon, onion, garlic, red pepper, and a splash of apple cider vinegar.. And also a dirty rice with black beans.. Also attempted to make it all perty like.. I am a seperate pile man myself, but it worked.. The chicken was extremely moist, the collard greens were amazing.

Which hardware store are you planning on purchasing the tube and funnel from.. And you could also tape like rough tape on the sides for proper grippage on the keg stands..

Yeh that guy was a complete tool.. "I have a PHD in Music, so i am more educated then you." Haha.. So educated infact, he had to resort to poking because he forgot how to use his grown up words..

If ever there was an arguement for me to move out of Manhattan!!! Holy cow i am in awe of the set up you guys have.. The things i would do with a backyard if i had one. Firstly, I love the fact that your husband bought you a grill while you were dating.. I do the same thing with my girlfriend, but it is with cooking tools.. Like a kitchen aide, or an ice cream maker, a waffle maker, pizza stone/peel, or maybe an order or two from penzey's, a couple of kilo's of chocolate,.. I had to get her apartment up to snuff. Hehe. Your brother in law sounds like he is my type of crazy and extremely giving.. I would love to see the pics of the rodeo ring as well as the grill he made.. I am only into my second summer of smoking and have already thought of a crazy smoker i eventually will have to have built as well as looking into ones that need to be pulled behind your car for my next purchase.. Great stuff and may you have many chances to roast an ox in the future..

Daniel normally I would totally agree with you but those 'customers' know it is a tv show and a reality one at that! I think they are looking for it. Why else would they go up and complain to the chef about a wait for food? On that track, who would wait 2 hours for food??? These people know what is going on and are obviously willing to play the game (IMO). I actually think Ramsey likes women, you can tell by the way he treats Elisa or whatever the turkey taco women's name is. The show scares me! ← Show or not, I was taught not to speak to a woman that way..And even if they knew they were in a show, i am sure they werent looking for such a disrespect.. However disgusting i thought the treatment of the four blonds was, the one that got me the most upset was when he cursed at the women and man standing there.. They seemed like really normal people not looking for face time..

Ahh yes i have seen her online.. She is in charge of the burger club.. I would love a list of potential pies as well as how far i would have to go for them.. I remember someone selling them on the street on the upper west side on this board.. I think it might have been her..
